As Good As It Gets
Jack Nicholson, Helen Hunt, Greg Kinnear and Cuba Gooding, Jr., star in James L. Brooks' hit comedy, AS GOOD AS IT GETS. Nicholson gives a show-stopping performance as Melvin Udall, an obsessive-compulsive novelist with Manhattan's meanest mouth. But when his neighbor Simon is hospitalized, Melvin is forced to babysit Simon's dog. And that unexpected act of kindness, along with waitress Carol Connelly, helps put Melvin back in the human race.

When Melvin gets Verdel, for me it was the beginnning of Melvin's getting a heart. His interactions w/Verdell were so cute, sweet and loving. I think Verdell was Mwlvin's heart.
The poor dog desperately looking for an escape. XD
The cutest dog
2 Academy Award winners Jack Nicholson and Cuba Gooding Jr. one of the best.
Poor Verdell!😢
I still cannot make up my mind whether that pup was incredibly cute or incredibly ugly. BUT I always come down on the side of cute!
This is a wonderful movie and has certainly stood the test of time as the issues and theme of the movie are universal. All the characters are superb. Jack Nicholson struggling with ocd and feeling above everyone as a pretence mechanism. His character arch is beautifully developed as he changes so dramatically and overcomes his ocd so he can fall in love. Helen Hunt is truly real and authentic as a single mother struggling with a sick child. The neighbour Simon in need of assistance is the catalyst for Melvin's dramatic change as he looks after Simon's dog and learns to love something tangible. The developing storyline where Melvin falls for Carol is wonderfully played. Funny subtle and on point. The ending of the movie is organic and for me emotionally satisfying.
