Jack Nicholson, Helen Hunt, Greg Kinnear and Cuba Gooding, Jr., star in James L. Brooks' hit comedy, AS GOOD AS IT GETS. Nicholson gives a show-stopping performance as Melvin Udall, an obsessive-compulsive novelist with Manhattan's meanest mouth. It breaks your heart how much Melvin hurts because he has to give Verdell back, but the crack in the heart is because Verdell hurt just as much knowing Melvin is hurting and he has to go back to Simon. Dogs/cats/pets know us so we have to be careful not to show too much hurt, cause they hurt just as much.

Verdell is the HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMP OF CUTENESS in my book. Every dog we had on tv was cute, but Verdell was special. After this movie everyone was talking about the "ewok dog" and Nicholson won an Oscar for his role.
