Simon dreams of slaying zombies most nights
This really cheered me up, thank you. Check silver hallmarks the stamps should give you location and year made. Couple of good videos. Just brought a victorian teapot/jug show in early research mode. Good luck!
Thanks for the tip! Good luck with your set! 🤞
Always enjoyable videos with a great mix. This one had more of a 'cut and thrust' than usual.😉
Gonna start a sword swallowing channel
Huh - do you think we are going to swallow that ? 😁@@Married2Reselling 😁😁
🤣
Very interesting collection. Expert valuation is the way to go. Just finding a person you can trust. There are specialist militaria sales at some auction houses. Have a look in your area. Last one is definitely a toasting fork, but quite an old one with a bone/perhaps ivory handle. There were more usually made of brass. You never know what you will find in a house clearance.😊
Thanks for the recommendations
Think you've got yourself some nice very old vintage swords worth quite a lot of money. Well done
Gawd! Swords. I wouldn’t know where to start. Glad Simon moved his ball bag out of your way 😂😂😂
😉
Your swords - the three pronged one is a toasting fork for use in front of a camp fire. The ones with French writing and round hole are all bayonets for rifles - the rest are ceremonial. Need to see an expert and MAKE A FORMAL APPOINTMENT WITH the expert. That way if you are stopped you can prove where you are going.
Good advice, thank you
Solingen is a place in Germany famous for making very high quality cutlery, knives and swords that meet specific DIN standards
Fantastic, thank you
My Dad (who served in the army) was a collector of Militaria (amongst other things!). When clearing out the loft for my Mum (I’m working my way through it all on eBay for her) I found just the same sort of thing: two metal cases with lots of swords and bayonets. My Mum was horrified and wanted them gone ASAP. I didn’t really want to take them home to research etc. I looked up Militaria shops online and there was one a few miles away. Called the owner and he came over next day. I’m sure he got a good deal (£350 for everything) but my mum was delighted and much relieved they’d gone! This might be the way to deal with them for you too. Either that or as a job lot at auction. (PS last pokey thing was a toasting fork! Possibly ivory handle?)
Sounds like it worked out for everyone
Steve, Jan and Nigel are bayonets. I think they are chassepot bayonets. The second last one is also a bayonet "pig sticker" style rather than sword style like the others. Looks like triangular cross section (difficult to tell from video) Triangular blades were banned because the wounds were really difficult to sew up. The three pronged one is probably a toasting fork. The curved ones are cavalry swords, I think.
Cheers for using their birth names 🤣🤣 made me chuckle.
Great knowledge, thanks for sharing!
Swords as a guess three to four hundred quid good luck
They are beautiful. If you transport them please put in your boot And wrap up well. As if its inside the car they can say you might use them in road rage. Mental but thats what ive been advised when selling. Auction is really the only way i go with knives. Hope this helps x
Thanks, definitely a concern
The curved one is called a sabre, a sword with a curved single bladed edge. I’m no sword expert, I googled it. We had a 3 pronged fork we used to toast bread in the fire when I was growing up.❤
But why three prongs… why not two or four 😁
That yellow bowl they use to sell pate in it . And you would ask for in oz over the deli counter . I use to have loads . Fantastic video love watching in bed before I go to sleep . 🥃🥃🥃 I had mine earlier x
Ah yes now that you mention it, that’s familiar. Hope you didn’t have any sword fighting nightmares!
The 2nd sword looks to me to be a 1796 British Light cavalry sword. There is one that looks like it sold for around £900 online.
3rd sword looks to be a French Infantry Officers sword from around 1840s by F.Backes of Paris
Ooooooh! Thanks for that!
Wow, thank you
British 1796 Light Cavalry Sword by Egg, found that online. Look identical to yours
😮
Please keep one to slice up lengths of bubble wrap 😂
🤣😆🤣
Simon is very clumsy she said as her head rolled across the garden
🤣
Those short ones with holes look like bayonets to me but I’m no expert, they seem old and genuine rather than repro so that’s a good start. The tabs at the bases are for trapping then twisting your opponents sword out of his hand…
I agree, the triangular profile of the blade is a giveaway as well as the fixing holes. Designed to make a cut that will bleed profusely and is hard to heal I believe. Would also be used for close quarters hand to hand fighting as well
Thank you for that info 👍👍👍
Thank you
Well they are very interesting!
I could just imagine Simon getting them out during a summer BBQ to show them off and having play fights with your friends lol
Invite on its way
Fun 😊 video 🎥
I know nothing about swords ⚔️
Me neither
@@Married2Reselling Hopefully someone in the comments do. Maybe pop by a local antique shop or pop up the question on Facebook or Instagram
Will you move your ball bag😂
🤭
Hi, just found your CZcams channel today. Great items. Please can you let me know your eBay channel, unfortunately I don't use any social media links etc. Thank you
Welcome! Link in the description of this video 👍
I sent off a 20 piece dinner service and when it got there it was a 58 piece.😂😂only joking
Heeehee
Simon was having way too much fun with those antique swords 🤣
Keep your melons safe Faye 🤣
Brutal yet beautiful pieces of history though & I wish you very peaceful & safe sales with them 👍
They’re now being kept in ‘the scary corner’
@@Married2Reselling 🤣 brilliant 🤣
Look forward to the update 🤞
Tea service must be murder to wrap and get to destination in one piece.?
No really, you just deal with each type of piece together, so saucers bound together, cups together etc… big strong box and you’re done.
Wow, they are something. Criminals tend to keep decorative swords mounted on their walls should they be raided by the police.
😱
Are you only selling china pieces now?
On eBay yes mostly, and glass etc. we change a lot though
Do you no why the uk Drives on the Left hand side of the road.? Going back to when man Rode Horses and went to war most men where right handed so when they draw there sword its done with the dominant hand..Abit of useless information for you..Youl tell me your both left handed now hey....lol...
Interesting… Simons a lefty so he’d have been buggered
