HOW TO Inoculate Biochar (Integrated Livestock)

- Inoculating Biochar with integrated livestock is a quick and simple method of charging your biochar before adding it to your soil.
Biochar is a fantastic substance that provides massive amounts of pore space for microbes to live and thrive, BUT putting fresh Biochar directly into the soil will have little immediate effect beyond water retention. After some time, the carbon molecules catch enough nutrients, and we see results in plant growth.
Speeding up this process by inoculating the Biochar before adding it to the soil is possible.
Inoculation is as simple as soaking Biochar with any fertilizer for 12-24hrs. Fertilizers can be chemical or organic, such as compost tea, worm castings, sea-sol, aged manure, or urine.
Biochar can soak urine and transform it into an odourless solid organic fertilizer that increases soil organic matter and promotes microbial soil life.

I enjoy all of your videos. I watch through all the ads. Hope that helps. Keep up the good work.
Thank you DG, that means a lot to us both 👍
Very informative and entertaining Leigh. Thank you. All the best. Mitch
Thanks Mr.M, a few nuggets of information & a few giggles along the way 👍
Great video learning something again thanks mate
Great to hear that from you John 👍
Glad to see you are now a part time employee for the ministry of silly walks
There may come a time in the future where I begin to grow up and act my age . . . Maybe 😂
Great vlog you two
I read a quote from Bert Einstein recently that resonated - “I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones”
Wow he's probably nailed it.
Lucky we have lots of stones.
I'd better stop turning our sticks to biochar so I can knock up an armory!
Great video guys your farm is coming along nicely
Thanks Matt. Feels like we're riding on a bit of a high at the moment. Long may it continue 👍
Consistently improving the system👍, setting up your soil for a lifetime of production. They have found viable terra preta 2000 years old in the Amazon, it’s an amazing process. Thanks for the laughs as always.
Many blessings to you and Toon🙏
Cheers 🍻
Thanks SiF. We feel we are on the right track now sorting out our poor quality soil.
Dirty hands and big smiles. Here too...the smiles at least. I ain't afraid of work. I can lie down right next to it and go to sleep.
Chance would be a fine thing 😂
Gorgeous biochar! Mine is always so potash-y. How do you smother it, pretty please?
We used to get a covering of ash when we began making it. Now we just pour two full watercans of rain water over it when the burn has finished. The steam also helps to fracture the charcoal increasing its surface area even more and makes it more receptive to microbes 😉
Toon & Leigh porpeang farm Thailand thank you!🙏
@@TLFarm does the char feel different after your quench it, versus the dry method?
Not noticeable Russell, but then again we don't dry it out 100% before crushing and applying it to the manures and composting piles.
Just hang the charcoal in the fish pond for some time, it absorbs all the nutrients and good bacteria from the pond and then transfer them to plants. Plus it cleans your pond water.
A probably easier and faster way would be to make it very fine and mix it with goat food and then whatever comes out of them already is fool of good bacteria and nutrients and the goats also benefit from them.
What you did is great too.
Leigh, you're getting to be quite the chemist!.......or as a secondary job, a Bandito! Great job on the new crib for Barry and the girls.
Barry and the old girls are loving the new pad 👍
Love the vids keep em coming giving us loads of ideas . Was going to sugest trying to make amazonian black earth but yoir ahead of the curve i see hope im not too knackered to give all this a try when we move from uk in some years but gonna get some of our sugar cane out for the taiwan bamboo thanks again really great vids 👍
Why did the chicken cross the road 🤔⁉️To get to the new Crib 😂🤣😂🤣👍
Uncle Barry is loving his new pad.
Hi ya leigh and toon, 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 i think you know what I'm laughing at!
and doing the Popeye Shuffle -
Still got my swagger at 48 lol.
You're the only person ever to get excited over rotten leaves !! Bit like when I watch porn , er allegedly!
Fungal microbes is pure erotica 😍
Thanks for my Monday fix, it was really needed
Happy to oblige Jim 😉
I have accumulated a lot of wood from a forest area and wanted to make biochar but a Thai friend said it's illegal to burn anything, I'm in rural Sukhothai.
Wow I find that amazing. I know there's supposed to be a ban on burning sugarcane.
At the end of the day making biochar is basically making charcoal and that's being done all over Thailand.
The plus is, unlike normal charcoal, biochar is beneficial to the atmosphere for about 1,000 years 👍
Another great vlog, you guys are priceless, raw, real and honest. haha "who the f.... lives a thousand years" hahahahaha Who would of thought, using nature to help nature, Biochar, absolutely brilliant
Brilliant thank you Rod. Toon has a way with words & I love her thought process lol.
Good morning Thailand!
Very interesting!!😃

You are one lucky person who has a very hard working woman for wife.
Very true, although I do have to ask her to help lol.
Good show.
Cheers Rupert 👍
hey mate where are the other dogs,, ? only see gang running around with you all the time . And nothing better than free compost. And love Toons chicken catcher,,,5555
We can't take any plaudits for the chicken 'no-catch' stick. Eddie kindly knocked it together for us. To be honest it's best used as a papaya 'dead leaves puller!' 😂
Oh the dogs. Spoon is spoon which means she only does what she wants, which is nothing.
Mo is on permanent security with the ducks and geese because she kills almost everything.
Klopp is on a leash until we make a compound for him and Mo (he keeps going awol to see his boyfriend in the village!)
55555 ok gay dog,,, has to be one in the Thai family,,,5555
I see the little lady still considers you #1 in her life. Nothing like stating off laughing at one of your videos. Practice, practice, practice and yes the chicken stick will work..... Sign off from ol' Two Hat Eddie......
I was a tad slow when she said two hat Eddie.
Only you would have a posh cap and a work cap.
All 3 of my hats are for working lol.
@@TLFarm I did a hat change in my next video just for Toon, make sure she watches it.....

🌴 Toon and Leigh Porpeang Farm Thailand 🇹🇭
looks like your land is so much like that here in the Philippines..
Misses very bossy today 🙀🤔🤣😂🤣😂🤣⁉️
That's the way I like it Tim. A strict woman is a must in my book lol.
Silica is rare in Thailand? Aren't rice husks 90% silica?
After hundreds maybe thousands of years of burning rice fields after the harvest it's now illegal to burn. I wonder if in twenty years farmers will experience a diminished yield.
I wouldn't expect diminished yields but there'll definitely be more labour involved without burning.
If the sugarcane burning ban is anything to go by, they'll still be burning rice paddies for years to come.
@@TLFarm my neighbor didn't burn his rice field. He plowed it all in, flooded it and leveled it. So artificially he can add nitrogen for the next crop which I think would be expensive. It doesn't matter where on the planet you are if politicians get involved life never gets better overall.
Toon & Leigh porpeang farm Thailand they’ve started baling rice stubble.U can see videos.Put it down as bedding and the animal will pick out the good stuff
So, yellow biochar = to much early morning inoculation? Those papaya trees, in the middle of the goat corral, are probably not going to last long. Are there any videos on your quail adventure?
Do you have a video of the improved growth of your plants after using biochar?
Not yet but you've just given me an idea for a new video lol. Give me about a week as we have just recorded a couple of new videos that need editing first. Cheers Leigh.
@@TLFarm excellent! 🤗
What is Biochar called in Thai.
Should put some of those leaves decompose piles put bamboo.
Guess what I'm doing this afternoon Yack?
I was out there for a few hours yesterday. There won't be a single leaf left on that road when I'm finished LOL.
Biochar works only first year ! Tested in belgium university ....
Never heard that before 50 sats. Can you send me a link to the trials so I can take a look.
Cheers Leigh.

Nice to see you getting your hands dirty mate.

Impressive performance Mr Loso.

Thanks, I'm in the recovery position. On the beach 555 You know I have little interest in bio-char and its uses 555 But I can watch people who are passionate about their thing. All day long. Keep up the good work, for the lazy gits out in you tube land 👍 Cheers

Will give it some thought. All the good ones are taken 555
Are you still in the fetal position or have you powered through it?
I use my cows to break up the char and they poop all over it and urinate works great . Check out my video, Using cattle to incorporate biochar
To much adds
