- Written by Jesse Fuller in 1954, "San Francisco Bay Blues" has been recorded by everyone from Eric Clapton to Peter, Paul and Mary. I learned it when I was 13 years old from my cousin Tom McCardle who immersed me in the folk movement of the time.

One of my favorites from Eric Clapton. Thanks, John
Thanks, Jeff. I was going to put in his kazoo solo, but chose not to. Hah!
That sounds like fun!😺🎶
I learned this when I was 13 years old...a long time ago. And "walking with my baby down by the San Francisco bay" still seems exciting.
Very nice!
Thanks!
My intro to this was Clapton and the kazoo solo. Reminded me of my mummer grandfather and his buddies. They always had kazoo solos.
Great job, thanks for that gem.
Thanks, Jim. The guy that wrote it was a "one man band" with instruments on both his feet, kazoos, etc. I liked that Clapton put one in his version. There's an neat Peter, Paul and Mary video where all 3 break into kazoos.
Such a fun song to play isn't it? Haven't played it in a while, but I guess I'll have to later today now. Thanks!
I agree. I learned that Jesse Fuller wrote these sad, bluesy lyrics but always put them to cheery, fun melodies. He succeeded on this one!
