2:47 I am still impressed with how they shot the ball for this bumper. I'm honestly shocked they managed to not get the camera crew visible in the ball prop and its reflective surface.
The way it looks in the reflection, I'm guessing the camera was concealed in the square box looking thing in the horizon. Possibly the stage is several feet off the ground while the crew were underneath it, aside from the "fly guys" above moving the ball on wires.
Animated by Klein& in Fall 1980 to Winter of 1980/81, first used on April 12th 1981. Klein& also did the music for these bumpers, the orchestral stuff (like strings, and horns) are from the London Symphony Orchestra.
I was a teen in the 80s. and i had a bit of a crush on the girl in the blue pants rollerskating in the id back in the 80s (maybe she was close to the age i was when these was made). maybe i am a bit weird, but between wanting to ba a boy in a bowling skit i seen and my crush on the roller skating girl. i kind of like being a kid and teen in the 70s and 80s
It's crazy that some of these suckers were recently found after being lost for over 40 years!
Nickelodeon Should revive that for their 45th birthday this year!
What about the splat too? The classic when i was born in 1996.
Or maybe use it on April 1st for some fun hahas

@@ChristopherSobieniak That makes sense, hide the camera in plain sight and film it. Very creative way of doing things before the age of CGI.
@@Newsystuffs It's a lost craft.
this is the only video with the highest quality, and its also smooth
and with production cards!
This gives me good memories

Thank you!
So it was a transatlantic collaboration of sorts, right?
So they began working on the Silver Ball rebrand for Nickelodeon in late 1980?
Awesome find!!!! Thanks for uploading!!!!
Great find.
Terrific find! Could you find opening, interstitial, and closing materials from Alpha Repertory Television Service (ARTS) from 1982 to 1984?
Sorry, I don't have those.

This has what is probably one of the few recordings of the roller skate bumpers without the weird phone dial in the middle
True. Those tones were everywhere back then. That was a normal procedure of cable TV, known as DTMF tones.
@@ChristopherSobieniakoof, I’m not sure why but it rubs my brain wrong, glad it’s not here though
Would hate to come across that in the 80s ngl
@@BopperBippity The 80's weren't for everyone. It was uncharted territory.
Can you upload more Nickelodeon IDs from 1981?
That's all I got, but thanks.
You´re welcome,@@ChristopherSobieniak.
5:30 this one still played as late as 1984
Yep, many of these lasted up to '84.
