  • In DJing, phrasing refers to the alignment of phrases of two tracks in a mix. This allows the transition between the tracks to be done without breaking the musical structure.
So how can you get both tracks to align and transition at the exact spot you want them to? This video explains the easy way and the harder way to do it.
Please consider subscribing to my channel, it'll motivate me to make more of these. Thank you!

going for the newbies with this video. You'd be surprised how many people don't know about the looping part. I've seen some DJs just loop it 8 bars after the transition so they don't have to worry about phrasing! smh

Pro Tip: If you are mixing live and are eye balling the mix point and you miss it, you can use beat matching or set a loop to sequence the drops.

hey good idea, so have a preset loop point setup prior?

@@djbonlando absolutely. You can use it several ways. Let’s say you have a song where the intro is nice but then tapers off, you can set the loop and then mix in the second deck and then fade it out. Another is when the wave forms of the outro look similar but have a different vibe or vocals, snatch a loop there so that you never venture into no man’s land. Another is if you are doing a wedding and a guest asks for a specific song to be playing in the background. You can snatch the verse or chorus and then just play with the EQs and effects while they make their announcements and then end the loop once you’ve build up the tension in the song.
