    I can't see Manchester City ever allowing united to ever share the Etihad Stadium.
    We did this before for 3 years after WW2 when OT was bombed and again in the 1960's in European games when OT had no floodlights. The thanks we got was the banner in the Stretford End mocking City's lack of trophies when united were at the best. Their fans forgot too quickly the helping hand we had made to the club and took great delight mocking City.

    As a lifelong United supporter and someone whose family have supported either United or City for over 100 years I say a resounding YES. English Football history and Manchester are intertwined. It's worked perfectly well for Inter and AC Milan. Both clubs would increase their Match-day turnover big-time whilst sharing costs 50/50.
    Both clubs could play @ the Etihad while a super stadium is built in the best place possible in or around Manchester. Transport links would be at the heart of the whole process allowing people easy access both in and out. United could ( if needs be) sell off the area around Old Trafford and City could do the same ( if they own it) selling off the Etihad after the new stadium is finished.
    Starting afresh there would be ample room for a City Trophy Room and a United Trophy room. Within the seating @ both ends of the ground you could have a safe standing area for 20,000. Thus you would have 40,000 young and hopefully local fans singing their hearts out. This would mean that the stadium would not have to be built too high or far away from the pitch whilst still having a capacity of 100,000.
    Everyone would be a winner!
    ps. We defo don't want anything that's like the New Wembley, The Emirates or the Nou Camp. All terrible stadiums for atmosphere 👍

    City have allowed United to play at at their stadium before, when Old Trafford was bombed during WW2. United used Maine Road for either no rent or very little. Maine Road was bigger than Old Trafford , allowing them bigger attendances and greater gate reciepts. The move was only of benefit to United with them taking many of City fans back with them when they moved back to Old Trafford. If you look at the history of attendances, City was always greater until you will see a swing in favour of United during and after that period. Let the biggest club in the world sort their own stadium. City shouldn't do them any favours this time around.

      You can't be serious did you not listen when the cost was mentioned and the site of current stadium.
      It makes more sense to spend 2 billion to have new ground with lots of other perks over spending close to 1.5 billion polishing a turd.
      Liverpool case is different and even that ended up costing double the original quoted price.

    • @rufdymond
      @rufdymond Před 6 měsíci +3

      It’s about where the stadium is - we have the rail tracks on one side and a canal on the other side, plus the infrastructure is very old. The sheer cost of a renovation, which still might not leave you with a world class stadium, means that a new stadium might be the best option. I’ve been going to OT for 51 years, and my feeling is that a rebuild is the way to go…as long as it’s built along side the existing stadium, and the don’t mess with the name, I can handle that.

    Best thing the Government/Manchester Mayor could do would be to improve public transport infrastructure to Old Trafford site. If they ever got HS3 off the ground, they could have a stop under the stadium area as a further rapid link to Central Manchester. The current provision of trains plus trams isn't up to scratch in terms of capacity. Spurs have about 12-15 trains an hour going both south and north on two separate lines, plus the Victoria line underground runs every 2 minutes in both directions and that stadium is only 62,000. The club also puts on free bus shuttles from mainline stations. One tram and one train line isn't going to do it for 90,000 people in Manchester.

  • @bryngefferies7530

    There's nothing wrong with the Old Trafford stadium that a bit if TLC won't cure. All it needs is the Upgrade of the Sir Bobby Charlton Stand & East & West quadrant to complete the original design & a Levelled Retractable New Roof + modern refurbishment of the rest of the stadium to warrant at least 90K capacity
    Take Note: The stadium expansion MUST NOT exceed the rail track!
    Please Share!

  • @bryngefferies7530
    @bryngefferies7530 Před 6 měsíci +1

    The Owners were the ones who stop the Original project by using the excuse of the rail track complications. As stated previously, the design has already been laid out for completion of the stadium by original designers, to finish before the train track but the owners compromised by installed the 3rd tier cos the fans were complaining about the capacity at that time.
    Alls well we like to think that once the owners depart or bring in SJR and his team we can address the layout for the necessary expansion of the South stand, East & West quadrant issue ASAP because Wembley or Man City's Etihad is to far to deal with the fan base, we're sure that can be achieved with minimal fuss, going by our walk around the stadium experience by observation.
    Take Note: The Stadium Expansion should Not Exceed the rail track.
    We feel in 18 month to 2 years copying Real Madrid project with the right people it can be achieved in line with progress on the pitch!
    Worth a view, please share!

    There's an completed stadium design on WHF!🔰@UtdWesleyy with a comment stating: So apparently we are looking at an expansion of Old Trafford. It’s been talked about for years
    but put off because of the complications around the south section of the stadium but if we do manage to do it…🔴 2 Tier SBC Capacity: 88,000+
    We're sure that can be achieved with minimal fuss by observation cos its already laid out going by our walk around the stadium experience.
    Take Note: The Stadium Expansion Must Not Exceed the rail way track!
    Worth a view, please share!

    Build a new stadium, a super modern stadium with things brought over from the old one, build it next door 100 yards away...i'd like a 68,000 seater in honor of the 68 team that won the first European Cup, and a special Munch stand with 23,000 seats in honor of the 23 that tragically passed away

The government is never going to pay for a new stadium, and I’m pretty sure Sir Jim never said that either.
