I guess I’ve already put my viewpoint across about idioms and phrasal verbs. They are huge obstacles to overcome. It’s no mean feat.
It takes such a long time - listening, speaking, reading, and writing. However, in spite of it all, it still pays off.
Well, I’m a self-taught student by nature. I do appreciate practicing the language - both listening and speaking. I feel I ‘m on the right track.Why am I stating this? Well, I’ve been to the States twice - Chicago and New York. The first time it was sort of frustrating ‘cause I could hardly understand what people were saying. I fully “sensed” the real meaning of “a fish out of water”. On the other hand, the second time I felt kind of “more confident”. I took the chance to pay attention more closely to the very way American people express themselves.
I will not give up brushing up “my English”.
