Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit czcams.com/users/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.
Wow, not only so knowledgeable but so well with a clear and interesting way of speaking. It's a joy to hear you speak. Thank you, I always get a lot from watching you.
From Guam USA, Hawaii here. We are so fortunate to live so close to Asia that slow pitch jigging is almost the norm here. Happy to see itâs catching on in the mainland. Itâs not about loading up a cooler of the same fish, itâs about what am I gonna catch today with this brilliant piece of metal and extremely thin braid.
Exactly, thank you!
Good seminar , videos from the guys at Johnny Jigs provide a lot of info also .
thanks Mike, now it's time to take notes

Thanks for watching.
Great learning experience for this saltwater rookie. Took your advice and first time out caught 3 different species on same 200g jig. Got hit just about every time it hit the bottom. Addictive. You shortened my learning curve a ton. Thank you for these excellent seminars Mike.
MrJeff0063 - If you want to learn more about Slow Pitch Jigging techniques look up "TheFIshingKit" channel on CZcams. He does educational fishing content to help others learn and improved their fishing (slow pitch jigging) skills etc.
One other thing... HIGH QUALITY slow pitch jigging rods and reels combo can be had for less than 200 bucks from Asia, but not from the states. However, information are suppressed so American don't know about it. Just an FYI...
Hope this information helps!
Great seminar. Thanks. I'm hoping to try this on the Yankee Capts soon.

This is the video I send to friends that ask me about slow pitch jigging. Great presentation. Thanks. (By the way, slow pitch jigging works great in Alaska, too!)
Thanks for the presentation. Just purchased a Gooffish jigging rod, A Gomexus jigging reel, #8PE line and some assist hooks for the Jiggs I have had for a year!!
Thanks Mike ... your seminars are very informative ... I don't know of any that even come close to what you teach ... I'll look forward to trying them this weekend in Key West - keep up the great work you do

Great work. Learned a lot here. Awesome.
Awesome! Great talk
A very long video but oh my God very informative. Thank you very much
Dear Captain, thank you for this seminar with so much good information but with some points that I disagree with.
For example, I do not agree that any fishing rod costing less than $ 500 is bad. There are many rods on the market for lower values ââthat make a great alternative to top brands and models.
Another point where I completely disagree with you is when you say that in SPJ the jig is not animated with the rod but only with the reel.
I think you should review your options because in any type of SPJ action (Slow Pitch, High Pitch or Long Fall) you can use the lifting movement as the reel to load the rod, and in the last two you must do so.
Best Regards

Excellent tutorial, like all of your videos! I do a lot of slow-pitch jigging lately & lost many fish & expensive lures to our toothy predators, such as king mackerel, barracuda, etc., because of the braided hook ties. The fix, I switched out all of my braided hook connections to wire connections, and also added a six to eight inch wire leader to my lure/fluorocarbon connection. It worked, as you can see for yourself by clicking on my Marlin, blue icon to the left ...
Most ppl just use 60-80lb leader. Get a king cut a foot off.
rod builder here, this video is a great instructional! I will say though "spines on rods are a myth they are all made from material rolled on to a mandrel, there is a natural point that the rod "snaps" to which is what people call the spine but you will not break the rod by bending left or right, you will if you high stick it or grab the tip and bend a short section. fortunately id does not happen often even when your running a charter outfit where high sticks happen all the time.
You can build on the spine or the straight line on the blank
Very generous in throwing information. Thanks alot.

Thanks for this amazing tutorial. I am looking forward to implementing these techniques as soon as possible. Tight lines!

You just convinced me about the old way of fishing to the new way..... I loved this seminar , have watched it several times and have taken notes.
I just ordered a new rod from Florida Sportsman, jigs, and a new diawa reel. Thanks for you knowledge . I can wait to come to Florida for the winter, I WILL follow you from here on.. ....Thank you!!
So tru, yesterday is my first day doing slow jigging. Never done jigging at all in my life, I alway use dead bate to bottom fishing, but after yesterday no more dead bate, all slow jigging from now on.
Start with $550 combo, after 1 trip I caught so many different species, I end up spending $900 for 2 rod (daiwa jigging and shimano ocea jigger limited) and $1800 for 2 Stella 6k pg and 8k pg. itâs really fun, no longer using dead bait.
I volunteer to participate in technique research of 8+ hours and vow to only comment on findings of the experiment đ
Wonderful explanation well done but I'm wonder no one have questions there and no one brings you a glass of water sir
I've learned alot from your seminar sir, thank you for sharing.
01:42:37 you can also thread the topside line with a 5 pound weight and let it slide down the line to dislodge the jig from the wreck....or lose both the jig and the weight :/
What a fantastic seminar. Ive been looking for just this information thank you! Please come to NCal & fish lingcod halibut & rock cod so we can apply this out here.
Hi Jim - Have your tried any of these SPJ's Technique's on NCal fishing? I live in Monterey, CA and I will give this a try this weekend on a trip out of Moss Landing to Big Sur.
Lots of great info here. Although itâs amazing how SPJ rod technology has improved since this video came out. Canât speak for Chaos rods, but so many manufacturers now make super strong SPJ rods that you donât have to be so delicate with anymore.

Interesting! I see the japanese and Australians jerking the rods to impart action to the lure. Gets me thinking
wondering how those rectors would do in 60-150 ft of water for blue fin an yellow fin
Question after you crank the reel and the rod loads do you go into free spool or allow the jig to drop in gear? Thank you for this seminar.
Capt Mike I'm going on Yankee capt halfway ledge trip 200ft to 400ft. What weight slow pitch jigs should I use?
21 dislikes, 10 from groupers and 11 from red snappers!
Itâs at 45 now. Probably 20 from people whoâve never done this before and 25 from people whoâve never fished in this area lol. All slow pitch masters of course
All from people who wonât spend $1500 on his lil rod and reel
â@Discov110 you don't need a 1500 dollar rig, but it is fun to use one, you can use a spinning set up for under 500 that will work, but if you can spend 1500 I don't think you'll regret it, just don't tell the wife đŽ. Braid let's you put more line on a spinning real, you just got to have enough line to reach 400'-800' down. The spinning reals seem to have better drags, the conventional reels are more like a winch....FishOn.....jimi

Do they make acid wrapped rods for left and right hand retrieve reels? If it is to prevents the rod from twisting when fighting on a right hand retrieve would that make it really twist under a left hand retrieve reel?
Great video. Learned alot. Kind of confused though around 1:15 though. You are saying you are imparting action on the rod itself only by turning the reel handle and not actively jigging the rod itself? I know this isnt vertical speed jigging but you still need to move the rod AND crank the reel handle in combination, albiet much slower and subtle than speed jigging. Even all the Benny Ortiz videos show jigging the rod with and without retrieving line. Can you elaborate?
I've seen "Da Mayor" in action and he hurts your eyes but catches fish.

I still havenât been able to find the diamond braid he is using. Anyone got a lead?
Crazy question can you slow pitch for fresh water fish that feed on bait fish like bass walleye pike musky etc
Ya use a flutter spoon
You mentioned that you caught a 900lb blue fin, what set up weâre you using? Rod, reel and line
Old school broom stick, Penn Senator 16/0, 100 dacron. 824 pounds. Please follow me @FloridaSportFishingTV
Where can I find the PE line?
Quick question. Can I use a lighter jig than the SPJR is rated for? My TRG2 is rated for 150-400g. I probably won't be fishing in more than 200ft so 100-150g should be good. Less than 100ft.?
You use which ever size jig that can get you down to the bottom vertically as much as possible. Lighter jigs. Shallower water.
Link the line who sells it
Where can I buy the x9 line at?
Is he referring to momoi diamond braid?
You never mention the weight rating of the rods for an all around rod would you recommend 10-30 or 20-40?
Most slow pitch rods are rated in grams (i.e. 160-230g) and made specifically for slow pitch jigging.
I think the uni knot is better especially for braid.
He's not using braid to the jig but I have decided the best knot is the one you tie perfectly each time. I like uni knots too but if someone is super confident in an improved clinch knot then that works too. The difference in strength is so minute it comes down to what you have confidence in tying. At least that's what I think.
Uni knot is great but very hard to cinch correctly with line over 40lbs. matter fact at 60lbs it's almost impossible to cinch and finish correctly. if you watch many of the videos online they all mentioned the same problem. also, if there is huge difference in diameter between both line it becomes an issue. especially with braid to mono/fluro.
Weâve went from zing pow to wack pop. Hmmmđ¤đ¤
UK, Canada harshest lockdowns. What else do they have in common?
can I jig shallow water near a reef? around 50 feet deep⌠Which rod and jigg weight should I use?
You can, but I have found slow pitch jigging to be far more effective in deeper water. Where are you fishing, what area? Also, please join my streaming channel at www.FSFTV.com. Evidenced-based!
Has anyone ever done this over a wreck or heavy structure ? I canât see it working especially for big AJs.
a 25-50lb slow pitch rod can handle fish up around the 100 lb mark
You just gotta use a 3-4 power rod. 40# braid 80# leader and 25 lbs of drag. And donât fish super close to wreck and you can pull ajs off wrecks slow pitching. I call it the wreck rod. Bigger line donât work past about 300â though no matter how heavy the jig and it better have an aluminum reel seat....
Are these rods out, or are they still prototypes?
U can buy and order these rods from overseas. Japan and Maylasia makes badass unbelievable rods. Waay better than any mass produced brands to date that makes slow pitch
Ocea Jigger rods or you can use shimano trevala butterfly rods in the 80# line class with medium fast. Iâve got one and it works nicely
For spj and only $180.
Can you effectively slow pitch with a spinning reel? Thank you
You can and many do. I like the power of a conventional rod though and have gone to spiral wrapped guides to get the benefit of both worlds. Iâm fairly new to slow pitch jigging but Iâm hooked solidâŚ
Yes but much more effective with conventional, plus much more leverage and line capacity. Please join my new streaming channel with 300+ instructional videos at www.FSFTV.com. Sign up today and receive a free trolling lure. - Capt Mike
what bran Slow Pitch jig rod and reel combo sir
He said the reel is a daiwa saltiga 30 wide and he didn't say what the rod was
@@gowrestle160 black hole cape code. He didn't really dive into it but he said it very quickly right before talking about how parabolic the rod is and the acid wrap.
You dont have any trouble winching fish up with your high gear ratio? Ive noticed in my research most reels are 5 or 6 to 1. In my personal experience high gear ratios are more tiring.
I went with a tranx 401 low speed with a jigging world power handle matched to a phenix titan slow pitch jigging rod.
@@DanhNguyenster64 Best to have lowest gear ratio reel with highest line pickup... he mentions high gear and what he should be mentioning is line pickup. 30 inches per turn at a minimum... Preferably closer to 40.
I enjoy fishing and those who talk about just that
How do i know if the jig is a slow pitch jig ?
the manufacturer will state that is a slow pitch, nomad design, shimano and many other make them
slow pitch jigs have to different sides. that way the jig flutters. fast jigs have the exact same sides..identical.
whats brand name of the rods ?

Can you slow pitch jigging with the spinning reel?
You can but its best prwcticed with a conventional reel
when you have a lot of toothy fish do you use wire assists? i cant find a material i really like that's tooth proof but still has the movement you need
Yes, you can use steel assist hooks when the toothy critters are biting off jigs. I keep one single silver / glow striped jig in my tackle box with steel assist hooks and a small steel leader near the head for when the wahoo are thick and are biting off lures / baits. If I lose a jig to a hoo, I instantly swap to the pre-rigged (up-armored) jig and use it until the toothy fish move on. I also use this rig when fishing for ribbonfish / cutlass fish at night with success. Here is a link to the style I use. www.pecheur.com/en/gb/buy-assist-hook-decoy-dj-89-pack-of-2-50408.html I don't see any ill effects from the action of the hooks. If I'm vertical jigging, I just run hooks at the top of the jig. If I'm slow pitching, I run hooks at both ends and don't see a real difference compared to regular assists as far as action. I'm sure it's limited a bit but it still produces plenty of fish and stops me from losing 20 dollar jigs while missing really nice fish. There are other types but this style works well for me.

Where can I purchase the line. Can not find anywhere. Also canât find rods on Chaos site thanks.
This line is excellent for all jigging needs. The colors change every 10 meters so if you're in Murica, you might need to calculate the depth in feet but with slow pitch, you're going to the bottom each time so not really needed. Good for knowing how far off the bottom you are and can also be used when vertical jigging in situations where you need to know how deep you are without the bottom being in reach. www.1stopfishing.com/shop/shimano-ocea-ex8-pe-line/ It's what I use on all my slow pitch and vertical jigging rods and have for the last 4 years or so. Very smooth, very strong, great knots. Until something better comes along, I don't have a need to change. Get some PE spray to condition / protect it, rinse properly and store out of UV and it will last quite a while. I've got 3+ years on a few of my rods and haven't had a need to re-spool yet.

@@briankogan6871 SFC are spendy but they work really well. The other really good brand IMO is Deep Liner. Xesta has some good lures but SFC and DL are my favorites.
SFC are fantastic jigs, but sometimes its not economically feasible to replace 4-6 jigs per trip at a average of $16-$30 a piece. Luckily, as Slow Pitch starts to become more mainstream, the replicas will be more and more readily available. Try Tackleworld.com (used to be jigging world). They have many jigs extremely similar to the OG JDM jigs without the huge price tag. I've had very good success on the Qubee, and falling angel jigs. Diawa SK jigs are pretty great as well. Williamson has a few jigs as well that have good action as well.
for beginners like myself the daiwa sk jig has worked fantastic for california rockfish and lingcod. I was literally outfishing everyone using live bait.
Kids really going to just stand there lol
Agreed in full.... why die with all the money in the bank.

Letâs not play the âif you didnât pay x for your outfit itâs not xâ game. There are plenty of rigs that are inexpensive that get people into our sport. Tight lines and big fish everyone.
He reminds me of Captain Dave from Wicked tuna.
Literally everyone else uses the rod to impart action. Here he says use the reel only. Gets confusing
Tell that kid to sit down!
Can you link the rod you had in hand.

Donât buy chaos. Buy temple reef, black hole, evergreen, etc. chaos is Chinese made blanks wrapped in the US by people who donât know how to slow pitch period. The other brands are companies who invented this method
Pat attention, the blank is a black hole.
@@peterk814 lol you say donât buy exactly what he is selling. Then say buy exactly what he is selling.
