    Nice detailed review. I really like my pair, I was worried about the weight but I agree they don't run heavy. I have found the grip to be very solid on an a real mix of terrain and they run well on the road. One thing that I noticed is how quiet they are, they are so smooth and quiet, a real nice feel. Very nice shoe for the longer stuff or for easy chilled miles.

    My trail shoe has always been an inov8 (parkclaw) and I’ve always been impressed and pleased with the brand, and their clothing too. One reason being the wide toe box. It’s great to see the brand improving their technology with new models. This is definitely a shoe I’d be interested in! Thanks for the review Chris 👍

      The wide toe box, when out on the trails is certainly a big benefit. I too, really like the inov-8 products that I've been using recently, especially these shoes.

    I had been training for NDW50 in Brooks Road Shoes as it had been such a dry long period but then when we had rain and more rain ☔️ in May I took your lead a bought a pair 3 weeks before and so miles going into event less than ideal..... however very comfortable throughout and absolutely no aches or pains, great cushioning and comfort. Grip was poor around Gangers Hill and on the steeper narrow rutted muddy tracks but so glad I switched from my road shoes 👍 Thanks Chris, great review and I would second your findings

      Thanks Michael. Glad they worked out well for you too during the NDW50. We certainly put them through all sorts of conditions during that race. When you are doing your first 50 miler like we did, shoe choice was definitely important.

    Happy I found your channel! Went in to get my first pair of speed shoes today and realized I was pronating quite badly when trying on the Saucony Endorphin Speed 2 (store clerk filming me from behind while running on the store treadmill). Tried the Asics Magic Speed instead and got a much better result with its firmer midsole. So you might imagine a completely new world view dawned on me where all my previous shoe picks have been way off, most notably my previous latest purchase - the Novablast 2. Regret that one now. For trail running my Hoka Challenger ATR 6 wide have actually been okay, and in retrospect the shoe I've suffered the least with ankle fatigue in on easy long runs. But now you completely sold me on this inov8 shoe as I've fallen in love with doing all day trail outings, and when I found it on sale for just 130€ I couldn't resist! Have subbed to your channel - looking forward to more stability shoe reviews like these! On that note, I'm wondering if the Asics Metaspeed Sky would be a decent marathon option? I haven't tried it. What's you pick for a stable marathon shoe?

    • @HereWeAreRunning
      @HereWeAreRunning  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks. I ran my last marathon in the Next% V2, which definitely isn't stable. I took a risk and got away with it.
      I'm looking forward to seeing what the new Saucony Tempus is like in a race and whether it will be suitable for marathon distances. Hope to get it soon.

    Thanks for the review. Very thorough. I have been um’ing and aa’ing between this shoe and the terraultra g270. I’ve decided to go for the terraultra due to the weight difference.

      Hope the Terraultra G270 works well for you. Damien Hall certainly seems to get on well with it. I've not tried that shoe yet myself but it would be interesting to compare it with the Trailfly. I've never worn a zero drop shoe before so wonder if that would take a bit of getting use to with the Terraultra.

    Nice review Chris, I've got some of these and although it's a great shoe for some reason I've not quite got the lockdown fit dialled in yet. I've found the laces too tight over where I knot them (or too lose if I loosen them) and some rubbing in the toe box. I think it's just me, I've not spent the time trying to get it quite right, as I had some Inov-8 Roclite's that were just instantly dialled in. I'm sure with abit of effort they'll be fine, and otherwise it's a fantastic shoe and I've been using it for some road & trail runs which it's been spot on for.

    • @HereWeAreRunning
      @HereWeAreRunning  Před 3 lety +1

      Thanks Thomas. Have you tried a runners knot? I rarely get lockdown issues in my shoes and certainly didn't in these but on the occasions where I have in the past, I've used a runners knot and that has sorted it out. Sometimes the laces in running shoes are a bit short for a runners knot but not in these, plenty of length to the laces. Anyway, hope you can do a bit of tweaking and get it to lockdown properly because I think you'll really enjoy running in the shoe, once you do.

    • @TomSzczepanski
      @TomSzczepanski Před 3 lety

      @@HereWeAreRunning I have Chris, I think it's just me failing to dial them in properly still, I've tightened them too much in some places and not enough in others. I'll probably have a good crack at it in the next couple of days ahead of a big trail run this weekend with them. You're not wrong about there being plenty of length to the laces!

      Of trail shoes I've owned, the Salomon Speedcross is fantastic in the mud. Of shoes I've not yet tried, I'd be interested in giving the Mudclaw range from Inov-8, a go.

    Hi Chris, what do you do to help your over-pronation in this shoe? Have you put your own insoles in, or are they ok without?
    Also have you found the adaptaflex groove affects your pronation?

    • @HereWeAreRunning
      @HereWeAreRunning  Před 3 lety +1

      Great questions Joe. I haven't done anything specific and I didn't notice any trouble caused by over pronation. I tend to feel that it matters less in a trail shoe. They generally come with a more supportive upper and this shoe has a reasonably wide base to it, which I find helps a bit. The groove gives the shoe some flexibility which I think is needed, especially when running over uneven ground. Again I don't find this as a problem. I have been recovering from an ITB injury since my 50 miler but I don't think this was caused by the shoe. In fact, I think that without this shoe I would have really struggled to complete the ultra.

    How are the shoes holding up after 8 months? Are they your favourite trail running shoes? Also did you get any more blisters in them? Could they be because you needed to size up by a half size?

    • @HereWeAreRunning
      @HereWeAreRunning  Před 2 lety

      TBH, not worn it much recently as it's been so muddy in the Autumn/Winter and this is not the best shoe in mud. Instead I'm running in the Inov-8 X-talon Ultra 260 V2 which is great in the current conditions. However, The TrailFly Ultra, remains a favourite of mine for long distances over mix terrains. I think the blisters were more down to the distance that the she fit, only got them on the 50 miler.
