I love how even with a faction that lacks gunpowder so no cannon montage, Pilps still manages to blow up the enemy general with artillery.
this game doesn't take into account that after a bit the Aztecs would have DEFINETLY started using the steel weapons and armor they were taking off the bodies of their enemies...that is a frightening prospect
That would of been insane to see them using armour too
Why they never got metal working in the tech tree is beyond me
i mean if the Zulus did it then so should have the aztecs if given a chance they likely could have at least held out as long as the incas did if they hadnt welcomed them in to there capital like they did in our history.

In both cases the overwhelming majority of the "Spanish troops" where enemies of the Aztecs / Inca. In the case of the Inca on top of that, the previously losing faction in the civil war allied with the Spanish.
And yes, they used iron weapons very quickly. The Inca already used metal weapons along with stone, the Aztecs used obsidian.
Its good to remember that the Inca was 2.5 million km2 empire, while the Aztecs where 1 city + 2 allied cities.

encapsulates perfectly why medieval 2 has never had more people playing it. this game aged like wine and just goes from strength to strength after 15 years.
you did a hilarious what-if scenario with the grand campaign in the base game, but to this day, the americas kingdoms expansion was one of my most immersive and engaging total war experiences and it was for all the reasons you showed here. i would come home from school and play as spain in the americas campaign over and over again. felt so unique. it was like a mod before mods even existed.

Fun fact: Tenochtitlan had an estimated population between 300k and 500k people, while Sevilla only had 170k, so this video is kinda realistic
Yeah and there is some sources that estimates up to 400k soldiers being mobilized for a war
They needed them for the sacrifices!
Population estimates for Tenochtitlan usually range in between 200k-400k, but the entire Valley of Mexico, taking up about the same space as the greater Los Angeles area, had a pop of 1.2 million.
Seville's population in 1530 was 60,000 people.

The Aztecs are actually one of my favorite factions to play as in the game. Despite the lack of cavalry and things like catapults and trebuchets, I love how fast the infantry moves and how you can have them in such large numbers. Using them in human swarm tactics is always fun, and yeah, their ability to demoralize is OP.

I remember in Vanilla I was playing as the Moors and after I finished the campaign objectives I gave away a ton of territory in Europe to the Aztecs. I don’t remember anything happening, like the other factions didn’t interact with them, but I do remember they had stacks of Arquebusiers because they couldn’t spawn their own native troops in Europe.

As a Portuguese, I like this video a lot, makes me wonder how different the world would be if the aztects did play a reverse UNO card on my neighbors
It’s a really interesting scenario to think about.
What if the Mayans or Aztecs were the ones to rapidly advance their civilization instead of the Greeks & Latins? What if this highly advanced Native American Empire of Mayans or Aztecs discovered & conquered Europe while it was still nothing more than petty Celtic tribes & Latin kingdoms? What would a world look like where Native Americans dominate the modern world both culturally & ethnically?
We might’ve had some humanized form of Mesoamerican religion as the dominant faith in this world, rather than Christianity. Our language & writing system would likely be either a mix of european & native american style at best, & entirely replaced with Native American style at worst. Obviously architecture would look far different than it does in our timeline.
Honestly, It’s depressing to see a civilization with so much potential be reduced to ruin by the Europeans. The Asians got lucky in that much of their culture is still more-or-less intact after all these years. But what would our world have been like if Christopher Columbus discovered Asia instead of the Americas? The world may never know, I guess.

A disturbing fact about all this is that the Aztecs probably left the children of all the cities they destroyed alive, but not for mercy but to sacrifice them to Tlaloc when there were droughts.
This move is known as "Reverse Cortés"
Whats funny is that the Aztecs in vanilla are relatively quite stronger than they are in the New World DLC where they're meant to be played. Because in vanilla, Old World cavalry and troops all have 1 hit point each, only generals bodyguard have 2 hp. In the New World DLC campaign though, Spanish troops and cav (except militia) have 2hp, and their generals bodyguard have 3hp! to try to make a quantity vs quality balance
Just imagine how terrifying that would be. A massive armada of pagan warriors wearing jaguar skins just appears out of the endless sea one day. No one knows who they are or where they came from, and they immediately just start conquering everything in sight.

Honestly, even if the Aztec in this video never developed over-seas ships, imagine Conquistadors exploring this version of America and coming to find that the ENTIRE continent is ruled under one banner of a blood-thirsty tribe that wants to assimilate any other nation it finds

Warhammer is incredible well done and fleshed out, just make sure you have the latest version
In my opinion LOTR is trash, sure its well done but you barely get money while your armies are expensive and the AI cheats but better you see for yourself
@@PuellaMagiHomuraAkemi I find the fact that fundings are low and that the AI gets certain privileges very nice. It makes for a nice challenge which I have enjoyed multiple times

But its not enjoyable if the AI spawns stuff infront of you the moment you siege something and neither is it fun if you can barely afford anything while the AI has no problems whatsoever - thats no challenge but makes you always feel miserable and powerless no matter your victories - its the same issue as in TW Warhammer because even if you win it won't matter because the AI will instantly recover.
Its to me the absolute worst way of design and ruins the entire experience, as all of your expansions or victories wont or barely matter anymore.
I understand what you mean but if the cheats are so obvious and makes the player always seem punished for playing the game its simply no fun and a very artificial "challenge" that comes down to "we higher stats lol"
It would be far better if there would be other lategame challenges like another AI becoming very big and powerful like you so you have a major fight while the minors pick sides. That would be fun lategame difficulty without obvious cheating. Same goes for an adaptable difficulty, there are many ways to design this but the way it is in the LOTR mod is just ew.
Virgin inca: lose to the spanish with a force numbering around ten thousands made out of a majority of untrained conscripts, utterly terrified by the spanish weapons and horses, just numbering 600.
Chad aztech: is scared of nothing because he cuts himself everyday, so that the sun rise again the next day. Lost because his vassals allied with the invaders and their major capital was flooded just a couple of years before the spanish arrival.

That's what I love about Total War series (historical ones): you can pick up almost every nation, existing or ever existed, and write your own story. I think, for this developers can be forgiven for some historical inaccuracy or gameplay issues.

The innacurate thing in this game that aztec stiil using clubs and cotton armor while aztec should actually adapt and start to use metal weapons and armor and horses right after they capture the first eouropean city.

Imagine, if you will, you are a Spanish knight and you’ve spent your life dueling, jousting, and training for honorable combat against your foes, only for some guy across the world dressed in literal cheetah print to sail over to your country, beat you to death with an obsidian tipped club, then dunk a leather ball through a stone hoop. Truly a “goat’d with the sauce” moment.
