Crazy fact: The guy who did the VFX for this flick is none other than Kevin Yagher ie the designer of Chucky. He also did FX work for Freddy Krueger in Elm Street 2, 3, and 4.

@@JasonBrant Oh yeah. He even tried his hand at directing with Hellraiser Bloodline but ended up having his name taken off and using the Alan Smithee name in the credits due to numerous behind the scenes issues making that movie.
As a young metalhead in the '80s i loved this movie. In italy it was called "Morte a 33 giri" as "Death at 33 RPM" as the velocity at the LP albums spun.
I don't think i can stomach to watch it now.

I remember when this movie came out, the theater was packed with metalheads and when Ozzy came on the screen everyone exploded with laughter because of the irony.

This is not what I would think of as a bad movie. It's a decent and entertaining horror film from that time period. The main character was Skippy on Family Ties (Michael J Fox sitcom 80s). This film's soundtrack was popular and the main song got lot radio play time.
It was a solid horror film until the end.
Totally recognized Skippy! Also noticed Large Marge actress, from pee wee's big adventure, made an appearance
Ragman's Mom was Elaine Joyce who was in Motel Hell.

The old lady who hates rock and roll, Mrs Cavell, is played by Alice Nunn, who went on to play Large Marge in Pee Wees Big Adventure. (I had to research but recognized her face instantly.)
I do know that the guy they hired to play Sammi Curr was a Professional Dancer, I saw that on an episode of Jo-Blo Videos that covered this flick. As far as I know, this was the only movie that the guy who played Skippy on Family Ties starred in as lead. Another similar movie that I'd recommend is "Brainscan," starring Edward Furlong, from 1994, only about Video Games. It would be right up your alley.

This is an absolute classic…saw it in the theatre when it was out… great set up… done in other films as well. I wish they would reboot it now… terrific movie. It isn’t bad at all… just a solid horror film from the 80’s.

These three are definitely great but I find when he has the other guy in there, that guys laugh is infectious. He's one of those guys that you don't even have to know what he's laughing at, when he laughs, you laugh.
He's married to at least one of them, so I think that's required.

The special and makeup effects in this are really hit or miss, first the god-awful rubber dino in the car, then the awesome tv screen interactions concept and effects. 😁

The guy who played Sammi Curr was indeed a dancer, Tony Fields. He passed in 1995 at the age of 36 of HIV-related cancer.
That effect when he ripped the old lady through the TV was awesome, especially for...whenever this film came out😂

He translates part of a book by stuntman and actor Sven-Ole Thorsen. I won't spoil it but it does not sound made up, I honestly think this happened because Segal is an asshole.

Tony Fields ( the dead rock star guy) was a dancer on Solid Gold and did gymnastics as well. His other notable appearances include the “ Beat It” video ( he’s the guy who grabs the girl’s head and kisses her on the way out of the diner) and “ Running With The Night” with Lionel Ritchie.
After he became sick and couldn’t perform anymore , he became a mentor to high school kids .
Unfortunately he’s no longer with us . He died from HIV related cancer in 1995, according to Wiki.

This is one rememberable movie, the scene when the chick gets cooked is one of those scenes that sticks forever, especially when I watched it as a kid.

Say what you will about this movie, but you can't deny the fact that the old lady being yanked out of the TV was one of the coolest and most hilarious special effects ever. I died laughing as I rewatched it a dozen times. @15:23

The guy who played Sammi Curr was a professional dancer on a show called Sol8d Gold. They originally wanted Blackie Lawless from W A.S P. to play him, but he didn't want to perform music that wasn't his.
The actor playing Sammi Curr was Tony Fields, he was a dancer mainly. He danced in the "Thriller" and "Beat it " videos of the Michael Jackson songs, in a Queen's song video, he landed a role in the movie version of the musical " A chorus line", starred in this movie and a couple others, had some roles in tv shows and performed in musical theatre. All in all a solid career for a dancer, sadly he contracted AIDS and died in 95 of HIV-related cancer.
Since you mentioned the song, here's a somewhat fun fact: Steven Tyler wrote (along with Joe Perry and Desmond Child) "Dude Looks Like A Lady" after seeing Vince Neil at a bar during a night of drinking.
Which is funny as they were looking like ladies back then as well.

The machine is a lathe and the pointy metal part going at his face is called a dead center. The spinning chuck would have torn him apart long before the tail stock, which is not powered by the way, would do any damage to him. A lathe that size will tear your arm off and beat you to death with it.
Thank you guys for finally doing this movie! The third act where it goes past the point of no return on the supernatural stuff is just hilariously absurd!

We partied in a giant open area under the high scool rumored to have been dug for a never-installed pool. You could fit a ton of people in there and it was pretty sound proof. Cops never came once. Safest place in town for teenagery.
As a metal head I loved this as a teen, saw it in the theater when it came out.

Abysmal writing aside, the VFX in this film were actually pretty damn good. The scene from the thumbnail looked great.
When you have to ask "How did he get out of the toilet water" about your main villain, you know you're watching some crap. With that said, I always kinda liked this one.
As a very young 80's Metal Head this movie was a staple, could not get enough of it, especially with all the guest stars like Marc Price , Skippy from Family Ties and Ozzy! ( and Large Marge from Pee Wees Big Adventure) Just recently got the sound track re release on Hell Fire Vinyl edition!🤘🔥🤘

This entire movie was a slam at the great "satanic panic" of the day. Casting Ozzy was 100% a slap in the face to Tipper Gore and her PMRC goons. While many famous metal musicians have slammed this movie for the main character "not being metal" enough...I disagree. A lot of geeks, dorks and oddballs were metal heads and found solice in the metal brotherhood. I'm glad y'all liked this movie because it's been in my VHS and DVD collection since it came out. Rock on y'all!!! Another great video!

I remember the heavy metal paranoia very well. And you cant forget D&D. Both were intertwined as the devils instruments to lure innocent teens to the devil. There were all these church and school meetings about it and we had so much fun with it! And then this movie came out. It was the best thing ever! I miss those days.
It was a debut for Charles Martin Smith as a movie director. And he succeeded in that profession as well.
I once brewed a batch of pumpkin ale I called “It’s The Grated Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!” It was… drinkable.

Oh yeah...at 9:32 Erin...that's a lathe (they make them for wood and metal). It's made to hold wood in place and spin it at a high velocity so it can be evenly carved and shaped. I made my own baseball bat in junior high with one and for highschool I used it to make custom legs for a table. ...just incase no one told you what it was!

Tony Fields(Sami Curr) was a pro dancer who unfortunately was a casualty of the AIDS epidemic. This flick was watched by my teenaged metal crew 100s of times in the late 80s.

my friends moved into a rental and we found a vhs of this in the closet. halloween staple ever since. the actor that played Sammy Curr died about a month before they found it, 30 miles from their rental.

Our school right after the last lessons on Friday until early Monday hours before school start - was dead. Like haunted. Only me and my brother went to the school yard to play football/soccer or ice hockey during the winter because it was just stone throw away - and no one was there.

As a guitar player and HUUGE fan of 80s metal I loved every second of this. As far as I'm concerned, you guys are the greatest channel of this type BY FAR.
That was great! :D And I could be mistaken, but I believe that the woman on tv at 15:23 (and at one point earlier) is the one who played Large Marge in PeeWee's Big Adventure :)
I was one of the few who saw this in the theater as a teen because of Fangoria magazine, it was only in the local multiplex for two weeks. I think the fact that Skippy was the lead killed it, nobody liked Skippy on family ties.
The best thing was Fastway, it should've been bigger, I mean it was founded by Motorheads guitarist and the bassist from the prog rock group UFO, the lead singer had a unique voice and could hit all the notes. I have the sound track plus most of their albums on my Spotify playlist.
