  • Beyond the Agitators & Exile, today we learned about the big stuff coming in Victoria 3's Voice of the People (it's first paid DLC expansion). The focus was on France & French Algeria, who have both received reworks. Algeria is now four distinct and historically accurate nations, while France's cultures have shifted and there are a LOAD of new options for flavor and diversity, thanks to huge events like the Paris Commune and other historical flavor elements. Thanks for watching! #victoria3 #gaming #strategy

    I'm so glad they added the Treaty of Turin!!
    I lived in Savoie in France and always thought it didn't make sense that France would have to attack Piedmont or Italy for it since it was traded peacefully to France in return for French help in Peidmont annexing Lombardy and Venetia.
    Ultimately I'd love to see trading land peacefully become an in game mechanic. Trading land for money, diplomatic favors, or just as part of a peace deal would be a game changer (I am winning the war but will give you this land I don't want for the land I do to end the war quickly and not gain as much infamy.)

    Really happy to hear they are including the Dreyfuss Affair in the game. This was a huge issue that made headlines across Europe and some historians have argued not only exposed how rampant anti-semitism was, but also amplified the role of media in political and public discourse. All that aside its a genuinely fascinating story which has multiple books written about it and even a couple movies.
    I'm also impressed you were able to pull yourself away from AoW4 to make this video. That's professionalism for you. Keeping us up to date on ALL the things. Much appreciated sir. Keep up the great work. I'm now going back to playing AoW4.

    After the DLC called the voice of the people I expect something like the Hungarian revolution in Austria or the Polish revolution in Russia, if they want to keep their word and present historical immersion then they should add these events to the game in this DLC

    This is a bit a field but I do want to see an Italy rework as well.
    Imo as of recent patches it is just too difficult to unify Italy as either Sardinia or Two Sicilies. If you try and unify then Austria, Prussia, and Russia declare war on you and the final Italian state will simply refuse no matter what.
    Here are my suggestions:
    1. They have a decent start with the France flavor so that France will want to help Piedmont unify Italy in exchange for Nice and Savoy. This is mechanically sound and historical.
    They should want to help more if you pass liberal laws to match Frances.
    2. There should be a "Austrian led" unification option where a conservative monarchical power that unifies most of Italy will be given Lombardy and Venetia in exchange for becoming an Austrian protectorate or Dominion. Again this is historical based on the congress of Vienna.
    3. Two Sicilian needs to start as a minor power. It should have a mini sick man of Europe event which requires reform like the Ottoman Tanzimat. If it succeeds then it can choose to either embrace liberalism or use its power to secure the aristocracy.
    If it fails, then you have Garibaldi do an expedition of the 1000 to wreck Sicily and make it easier to annex.
    Just my thoughts here. Let me know what you think!

      This is great stuff! My guess is we will see country focused updates like this for most of the big European players. So I bet you will get something like this, just don't know how much detail we'll see.

      I like the way you have thought about this, but to be honest I found it super easy recently to create Italy as the two sicilies diplomaticly. Improve relations and get them all into the customs Union if you can and bribe if you have to and it was done very quickly. Then bribe a great power to help you regain your land that Austria holds, France is usually a good bet, and you are done.

      I unified Italy rather easily when I tried when the game first came out as two sicilies, and that was without understanding how the game worked at all. You just have to be diplomatic with europe and choose your allies carefully

    Hope we can use Coups as a means of Geopolitical exploitation, and can instigate coups in other nations, like America did in Latin America under the Monroe Doctrine

    Thank you for being my news source for this game. I got the big dick edition for $40 on CDKeys, and can’t wait for all the DLC to flavor up and diversify the game. The core mechanics and ideas of V3 will keep me interested for years. I have hopes that this will be my favorite PDX by a landslide in the time to come. Just gotta keep adding historical events and more viable options for the player. I have a feeling a big diplomacy update is down the line soon

    Doesnt seem to be enough to warrant the price if I'm honest. I hope they don't expect us to buy DLC for every nation like this.

    • @MondoChow777
      @MondoChow777 Před rokem

      Or just consider getting the highest editions from the start to support the further development of your favorite passion projects so you don't have to spend pocket change on every pain staking addition or expansion?

    • @ichbinschanppi
      @ichbinschanppi Před rokem +3

      @@MondoChow777 that would still only get you one expansion. So wouldn't really fix the issue if they are to go down the EU route and do this for every nation. It's simply not worth it for a few buildings, a few different developments and a few models of historical figures. The important parts I feel are in the FLC. As for support. I remember doing that with CK1, back when things were on disc and guess what, they had to and did release a fully made game. That shows their DLC model isn't about the continuation, but a decision made in order to make the game more expensive and make more money. They have basically admitted it themselves with backtracking on previous DLC policies. This is evident in ck2 and eu4. A game at its highest price point should never cost more than the deposit on a home
      And with the release of mediocre, after mediocre empty games. ck3 (the best of the lot tbf), imperator and Victoria 3... what have they actually done to deserve that blind "support" from players before they play the game? So people shouldn't buy the "highest edition" from this developer on past performance, and with how the game was (it still isn't great) don't have a lot of pull to make people want to upgrade either. Paradox doesn't really deserve people to pay extra hoping that the game will finally be at a position people expect from a AAA developer by the 80th paid dlc

      This is honestly just like launch stellaris. It has a decent core to builf off of but for its all just completely flavorless. It took stellaris a long time to finally be able to roleplay something in it but until then it was just, functional. Vic 3 somehow took a very important and interesting part of humanity and just made it flavorless goop its honestly impressive.
