LYRICS
Welcome to my problems
It’s not an invitation
This is my dilemma
And it’s my obsession
I was sober now I’m drunk again
I’m in trouble and in love again
I don’t want to be a dead man walking
I don’t want to be a dead man walking
Welcome to my nightmare
Where dreams go to disappear
Sit around in rehab
Feeling like a lab rat
Strange days are here again
And it’s getting weirder
Here’s to all my problems
I just want to drink the poison
I was sober now I’m drunk again
I’m in trouble and in love again
I don’t want to be a dead man walking
I don’t want to be a dead man walking
I was sober now I’m drunk again
I’m in trouble and in love again
I don’t want to be a dead man walking
I don’t want to be a dead man walking
Oh, why
When I fall asleep tonight
On the wing
and prayer
Oh, why
For despair and obsession on you
You, yeah
I was sober now I’m drunk again
I’m in trouble and in love again
I don’t want to be a dead man walking
I don’t want to be a dead man walking
I was sober now I’m drunk again
I’m in trouble and in love again
I don’t want to be a dead man walking
I don’t want to be a dead man walking

Most authentic Green Day in a long while, this is a fantastic return

Hello Gabzito 👋
Least authentic comment in a long time
@@stevewilson5402Ok, now let's try to get an answer from someone who's not a complete retard
@@stevewilson5402 why, exactly? what's wrong with it?
This album feels like you just found an old Green Day song you never listened to and you're listening to it for the first time.
Beautifully said! That was my thought too, that it's reminiscent of their old sound but obviously matured (in a great way). And honest.
You mean like kerplunk or American idiot😅
I think this feels more like American Idiot era Green Day than Dookie era Green Day
This sounds nothing like 1039- Insomniac, so no noone found an old gd song lmao, are we even listening to the same thing?
@@guitarsinthesky 2004 is already old in the world of music
Grren day is like that old family friend you lost connection with but as soon as you reconnected its like nothing changed and things are still perfect
TRUE
Can't relate. I've been a fan boy for 30 years 😂
💯💯
Couldn't agree more 😂
I can honestly say I like this album. Not pretending to like it. Or want it to sound good only because a certain band is my favorite. But to honestly say. It's freaking great
Dude same. I was scared I was gonna hate it when it came out since I haven't really cared for any of their releases since AI, but I actually had fun listening to this album.

it sucks though, if you do like it your taste is very very bland.

As an alcoholic who recently relapsed Billie hit the nail on the head with this one.
This song caused me to relapse, not sure I wanna be sober again.
@funkapotamus86 me too lol
Me too, completely on the spot

Same, relapsed and this song makes me happy for some reason
One of my favorite Green Day songs now. The lyrics are so powerful and the sound captures that feeling of being at the bottom and trying to claw your way back up
Ascolta LA STORIA dei Green DAy... parti da DOOKIE e poi ne riparliamo...
Me too. My fav track on the record.
Hopefully this will serve as an anthem for those struggling with addiction and mental illness. Great song.
It already is, this song is helping me get clean and put my life back together. I was already moving in that direction, but a this song is what I needed to seal the deal
This song is supportive of drinking, though. He doesn't want to be a "dead man walking" - he doesn't want to be old and boring. He wants to drink and have fun.
@@VigilanteVegan I mean this in the most respectful and least offensive way possible, but that's stupid as shit. Literally no one in the world but you interpreted the song that way
Actually a very bad song to have stuck when trying to stay sober, but great song otherwise
@@alvaroosbournenot bad for cutting down though, and associating alcohol or whatever substance with "poison" will help in the long term. Im just trying to not drink too much so its okey to drink the poison just not too much. Atleast for me. I dont wanna go full sober, but i also dont want to be a dead man walking if you know what i mean.
This is BY FAR my favorite single from this album so far. Feels like a return to form and I'm all here for it. Siked for the drop!
Agree but I have to say it is the only song off the new album that has been interesting.
@@saintjimmy456 Yeah. Sonically, I've enjoyed all of them, but this one has felt the most genuine, so I think that really elevates it. It doesn't feel like he's trying to write like an edgy teenager, but like the adult man he is still struggling with shit. It feels appropriately edgy, not disingenuous
Not trying to throw shade at Billie. Green Day has been my favorite band my whole life, just didnt rock with the last album that much
@@jaykobhagstrom3531i understand why bro, it’s grown on me, as there’s not 1 GD release I don’t enjoy throughout. I understand though, it’s hard to enjoy that one NGL, kinda gotta be drunk to really enjoy Father Of All… but maybe that was the point 🤔

What makes this video so good is the fact that all the fun b&w party footage we see is in Billie's mind and it's just those last few shots in color that show how much of a mess he is that is reality. It speaks volumes. Well done.
Excellent comment. Didn't realize this till you pointed it out.
Based
Damn, that's right. A pretty sad detail tbh, didn't notice that
Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong has battled alcohol addiction throughout his career. He has been open about his struggles and has spoken about how his dependency has affected his personal life and his music. In 2012 a drunk Armstrong went into meltdown onstage at the iHeartRadio Festival and checked into rehab two days later.
In this song, Armstrong sings about the dilemma he constantly faces between wanting to stay sober and the desire to give in to his addiction. He talks about the guilt and shame that he feels, and the fear of falling back into old habits.
"'Dilemma' was one of those songs that was kind of easy to write because it was so personal to me," Armstrong explained. "We've seen so many of our peers struggle with addiction and mental illness. This song is all about the pain that comes from those experiences."
I don't blame him for getting upset though. They cut Green Day's time by 20 minutes at practically the last minute
@@cooperminion825 just for Usher, FUCKING USHER to play right after

One of their most honest songs lyrically which I’ve always loved about them. Really solid song and I love Billies vocals and the riff
I agree with you ❤
I have so much respect for Billie. He is one of the most vulnerable artists when it comes to the lyrics he writes. That is not easy, and yet he consistently opens up about his struggles. It's comforting.
@@gabbym333 I agree with you on that 💘

Still Breathing from Revolution Radio was pretty personal and about the same struggles he mentions here. Definitely worth listening to if you're not familiar with that one.
@@ering.3978Right. This feels like a part 2 to that
@@ering.3978 hahahaha still breathing was a response to the song: Americano m4ric4 by Rock punk JHR, I'll put the 4 if they don't delete my comment, just write the word correctly using the letter A and you'll ready see it's the song Rock punk JHR. Green day that's why deleted his name Green day from Revolution radio.
Dilemma is a song where Billie Joe is consoled by his friends after having been defeated again because the new album mexican musician Rock punk JHR released on November 11, 2023, rock punk JHR is not famous and still always defeats green day.
@@ering.3978 absolutely! love that song and the whole album too
I just found this song a couple of hours ago. So I was walking home from school with my friend, and we just so happened to run into his step mom, and she gave us a ride the rest of the way. This song was playing on the radio, and the second I heard it, I fell in love. This song has sparked an interest for me in Green Day. I'm going to go through all their catalog and see how many hits I can find. If they have songs that are like this or any other songs, comment.
If you love this I think good songs for you would be 1981, Bobby Sox, Jesus of Suburbia, and Saviors!
American Idiot is classic. Reminds me of this record.
brain stews a weird one like this i think you'll like it
You would definitely like songs off of the albums American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown
Here are some of my favorites: Redundant, Letterbomb, Jesus of Suburbia, Homecoming, Before the Lobotomy, American Eulogy, See the Light. There's a lot more that I love but definitely check out their older albums. There's a lot of good songs.
To be honest, I'm in my 30's growing up everyone I knew loved green day and still does. I never gave them the chance I should have because I was an elitist idiot. I was in to rancid, pennywise, early afi, etc. My brother loved billy joe, posters and all - he passed in 2020, and I ball like a baby every damn time I hear good riddance. So I doubled down on changing the song any time green day came on.
Then watching this year's new years eve show with my 10 year old and my wife they played this song and it all came full force. Green Day kicks ass. Diving back into the years of great music I missed out on. Unreal how my stupid ego or whatever caused me to miss the music.
Glad u came around Green Day is great. Rip to your brother
Rest in peace to your brother. I'm happy we can all just enjoy the music together

I could go on but I'm learning this new album on my guitar so getting back to it, Suzie Chapstick atm, know My Dilemma properly in drop D tuning😊
An absolute banger. Cant wait until the entire album drops
I know, can’t believe we have to wait a whole month
The riff in this one is so good. I have high hopes for this new album.
This is such a nice surprise. I was in love with Green Day as a teen, then life happened, but I occasionally go back for a listen. Great to see them back closer to their old quality. Also, Billie Joe still looks awesome. Good for him x
I can't get enough of that riff right after the chorus, it is SO GOOD

Sorry for your loss.
Green Day never cease to amaze from Dookie to American Idiot to Saviors. They honestly don’t have bad songs or albums (the short father of all album was sort of a mishap, but still good). Green Day will always be a band that will be around from decade to decade and garner new fans. My first show was in 1995 during the insomniac tour. I love this band.
I always describe Father As All as "when the band thats forced to make a new record by their label choose to sacrifice some genuinely good songs in the name of getting the fuck out of dodge" hahahaha
I'm not a big fan and actually I don't listen to much rock, punk,... I sometimes listen to something from Green Day, but I could really listen to this song on loop... All the released singles from the album are absolutely great so far and I expect the album to be too, good job!

How do I explain this? THIS song feels like that one Green Day song I've been wanting so badly. The Pre-American Idiot song, that sounds like their old stuff, but new. American Idiot is amazing, and loved everything after that. But I've been missing the old sound, and this is mixed with new sound too. They nailed it.

Some of the best material to come from Green Day in over 10 years I love this album so far!
Revolution Radio wasn't that long ago
We won’t even associate with father of all
@yeOldeThorne revolution radio has some great songs and melodic hooks, but, at to least to me, I've never heard Green Day write a song with this much earnesty and emotion. There's no metaphorical lyrics that aren't really about anything, this song feels gritty, real, and like Billie was able to tap into a different sort of vocal performance that feels brutally open. I think this might be the best Green day song of the past 10 years
@@yeOldeThorneRevRad felt pretty toothless imo. Like what is Revolution Radio? The headline? Our loves bullet proof? What does that have to do with anything. Very vague, very buzzwordy.

This song makes me realize how much better some of their songs from the past decade would sound with a better guitar tone. This sounds so full of energy in comparison to the other two singles. I really like it!
So true
The drop D tuning really helps!
That’s actually my biggest issue with all of the trilogy era. There are a handful of songs I would find to be pretty good or at the very least decent, but the tone of the guitars and even drums seem so watered down and lackluster. Like they are just missing that punch of energy that Green Day songs usually have.
You mean the trilogy. At least UNO would’ve blown people away if the guitars were heavier.
@@josejr.garcia2228Yeah, I'm basically thinking of the trilogy cause while it was a 5-6/10 everything afterwards was a straight 2/10 that could not be saved by a good guitar tone.
Wow! What a personal and vulnerable song, this will definitely be a top 10 Green Day song of all time.
What an incredibly infectious chorus! You guys came up with a classic rock and roll anthem for the sober crowd, the drinkers, the stoners, and every combination thereof. After singing it at karaoke twice, this is definitely going to become one of my go-to karaoke songs.

@Dylanisa_BasketCase Shuddup that album was great fun🔥🦄🔥
@@olispring2573no jajajaj
@@olispring2573nah that was a bad album all around.
@@olispring2573I didn't like it
Beautiful song, thanks for going as strong as you have for years since, and years to come
1:53 "oh I... I wanna start a revolution".
I am not the only one who wanted to sang this way 😅
Well, if it was this way it would be interesting easter egg
i knew i heard before something like that
I have a feeling that Saviours will become _the_ example of modern Green Day. Just this song alone is nearly as good as the whole Father of All album.
RevRad sitting in the corner feeling forgotten right about now
also...I don't think many fans of the band would consider a comparison to FOAM a good thing lol
I love Father of All but honestly I think this new album is better
By far this song is probably the most groovy out of the recent saviours singles. Rock on Green Day 🤘💚💚
I really do hope this one is a song they play on their stadium tour this summer.
Absolutely phenomenal. Love the sound of every aspect of this song, instrumental and vocal. So on point! Excited for the rest of this album 🤤
A masterpiece 💎👌
Yaaaaaas
Hello Emily
What a good, brave and honest video and song. In addition to being extremely necessary. This brings identification to those who hear through their own shadows. As a fan, I am grateful on so many levels for having my favorite band bringing such a well-produced and sincere sound. Billie, I admire you even more for everything. Even more so after what you did for us at Rock in Rio 2022. I imagined it, but now I'm sure of your character and heart. Thank you for your courage and strength. Thanks! I love you guys!
God Bless Green Day im thankful for a new album just wish i had the money to see them live
I don’t care who you are, this song is bada$$!!! 🤘🤘
Was listening to nimrod after running out of new singles and I came across the song uptight. Then, he's talking about being drunk and suicidal. And in Dilemma he's like "wait fuck no, I want to LIVE" it's amazing how much we change over the years. Love you Billie/Green Day
This video is brilliant.
We are all very proud of you Billie and we have been since day one.
Love you guys x
brilliant? a dog almost urinated on him 0:01
Rock punK JHR defeat green day again.
I recommend that you listen to the song: Su lento Suicidio fumar y alcohol By Rock punk JHR, The song talks about how human organs complain about vices and that the organs get angry with their owner. That's brilliant the song rock punk JHR, and Dillemma is it's nonsense.
This man taught me how to play guitar, sing, and write songs. This album makes me even more thankful he did.
ronnie radke: blames his controversies on "cancel culture" in a whiny ass song
chad billie joe armstrong: actually opens up about his addiction and takes accountability
Ronnie is such a loser
These lyrics feel like a part 2 to ‘Still Breathing’. So many people can relate to them. Very refreshing song choice for a single :)
Yes exactly what I thought instantly
Saviors will win a Grammy. You heard it here first.
This is MY kind of video and comment section. Green Day has an such amazing catalog of killer songs that never get the same attention as the "hits". Going to Pasquala, The One I Want, J.A.R., Stuck with Me, Stuart and the Ave., Scattered, and Whatsername...these songs live in my heart!!!
son las cosas que hacen a green day green day
Whoops, this comment was meant to be on a different video!!!
Havent listened to the whole album yet but I think this is my fav song of the ones Ive listened to. Good shit!
Its like we are back to punk era once again 🥲❤
I was obsessed with Billie Joe in 7th grade....I am 42 now AND still obsessed!!
I Love him so much❤😊
Kkkkk same here!
It's not a phase.
As a recovering addict, this song hits pretty hard man. Especially right now, knowing that I start college in September and I'll be 2 years clean from Meth is truly an accomplishment. But when you have BPD you feel like you're going to lose it every single day, you feel like you're not worth it. Or that the 97 % I got in upgrading grade.12 English was just a nice teacher, and I'm not that good. Not being able to see the things that others see at times, I know that my therapy and volunteering will help as well as my mental health classes. But when you haven't felt companionship, real joy, dopamine and other good emotions in such a long time; you start to wonder if you'll feel them at all. I never went through Rehab, I do feel like a lab rat though with all the medication they have me on. Thanks for making a relatable song, especially in today's age. And have nothing but respect for the members of Green Day. Much love from Canada, everyone.
Billie Joe is one of the few rock icons who just keeps improving with age, he never says "this is good enough"...I love Green Day so fucking much...
This song is amazing!!! Might be my favourite out of the Saviours singles thus far! 🖤🖤
I just can't stop listening to this. The chorus is amazing!!
Same. Kept singing along to the chorus
"I don't want to be a dead man walking" can mean 2 things simultaneously:
1- He doesn't feel alive when sober, therefore he wants to stay high
2- He becomes miserable when he's drinking, therefore he knows he should stay sober
That's why it's a fucking DILEMMA! Absolutely genius songwriting
I have been a huge fan since I was in high school. Thank you guys for making new music, and still fighting for social justice through your song writing
This is certainly one of the best songs Green Day have released for a long time! Good job!
