Addressing journalists today (7 Feb) on the situation in Gaza, Tor Wennesland, UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, said that the “agreement on the lasting ceasefire will be incredibly difficult to set up.”
He explained, “We will have to go into details on names and kinds of arrangements that are not a quick fix whatsoever.”
Wennesland also said, “How we get from where we are in the midst of a humanitarian nightmare and a total conflicted West Bank into a different course, and we need to set that course not by humanitarian means but by politics.”
He continued, “At the moment as the hostilities are ongoing, it’s impossible for the UN system to deliver sufficiently and most effectively on the ground.”
Answering a question, Wennesland said, “It's hard to find words on what to say to the people in Gaza that have lost everything, as they've lost everything, and they've been exposed to a massive destruction.”
He added, “It is very difficult to preach hope when you sit in a safe place to people sitting in the middle of what is hellish. And I think we should take a step back and not be too bold and think that the big words are what will make the big difference. What is making the difference is our ability to put our acts together smart and put the necessary pressure on the points that will trigger change.”
He stressed, “But you should be under no illusion: The humanitarian system is not designed and set up to carry the delivery of all goods into Gaza for 2.2 million people. We will not be able to have Gaza properly supplied unless there is a private sector delivering into the strip. In order for that to happen, geography needs to be taken seriously.”
He concluded, “Geography has combined what is now Israel with Gaza for 3,000 years. You cannot just kind of delete that away and say we should do it differently. Geography is defining the options for the way forward.”

Do you think the UN possesses that power? The nations agreed to abide by certain treaties they signed. Obviously, exceeding that treaty agreement is in essence an armed invasion. Egypt won't allow it, nor would Israel. Who has the power to force those nations to open their borders to foreign troops?
What of the problems? Aid that contains weaponry or chemicals that Hamas could use. A war against two pretty strong powers in the middle east fighting off invaders. I'm sure that the US doesn't want to lose an aircraft carrier that is sailing around Lebanon. Or make Israel mad enough to go nuclear, literally. They definately have nuclear subs and nuclear short range missiles, maybe even mid range ones.
Bottom line, Israel would crush any nation - UK, France, Italy, etc that tried to use force against it. Even Egypt might win against them on its home ground - France had to beg for help from the US to make airstrikes in Libya, not being able to handle even that weak nation. Only the US would have the might to force Israel to do anything, but it doesn't want to fight such a mighty enemy nor get nuked.

The UN would only safeguard it/protect it and make sure that it goes in. It is not about fighting Israel (who are the ones preventing aid from coming in. Egypt do not oppose it; it is Gaza's side of the border that is controlled by Israel that stops the aid from entering). It is about protecting the aid trucks.
There were UN forces in the former Yugoslavia and other places. They should have been there too from day one. The US could have negociated/calmed/controlled Israel. The US talks talks talks but does the contrary of what it says.
When there is a will, there is a way, but there was no will. So I don't really know what the UN does, other than being a nice idea.

Im sorry but the UN is lacking and for what reasons i do not know , so heres why, why have they not implemented UN Protection Force just like they did in the former Yugoslavia in 1992.

Regardless of whether there's a ceasefire or not, the UN must have the power to take control of the border between Egypt and Gaza. It doesn't go across Israeli territory, so for Israel to hold 2.2 million innocent civilians captive based on a settlement reached between the two political parties is abominable and can NOT be LEGAL under international law.
