- Lea Jansen, with the help of Sydney Sonday, spent a day at the Wolverine Pickleball Warehouse running some great skill and strategy pickleball clinics for various skill levels. Lea was nice enough to let Webby hook up a microphone to her and record the entire clinic she did for the 3.5-4.0 group. This video gives a glimpse of what goes on during a pro clinic and Lea shows us her favorite drills to work on to help players increase their skills and reach the next level of their pickleball journey.

Problem with her Drills (which are good ones) is the the Students aren't capable of doing many of them.
You need to be a Solid 3.5 to do the "speed drill" with any effectiveness...

the mic is for the camera to receive the signal while videoing. So Lea has to up her voice for people to hear.

I know the season has just started back but how does one keep with with a seminar schedule.
A lot of the top pro players only do clinics occasionally throughout the year. Lea doesn't do a lot of clinics in general, so if you ever get the opportunity to attend one, you should definitely sign up as soon as possible before it fills up. -Wenny
Swing out moreso than just up especially on softer shots is a great tip. Plus swing to the target. If difficult to always know target, on soft shots it's practically always the NVZ.and to bounce to opponents.

At 28:15 Lea says that Anna Leigh hits a return "this deep". Because of the camera angle, I can't tell where that is. Just on the other side of the net on the return? Wouldn't that invite the other team in?
Whatever Anna Leigh has been doing seems to be working quite well for her. -Webby
At 28:15, when Lea points to the ground and says ALW hits the return "this deep" she is referring to herself as the receiver and the ball landing at her feet near the baseline, not landing way up near the kitchen.
You want to hit inbetween your front foot and backfoot! thats simple tennis less is more because its about the grip on contact! I prefer having one foot in front a little
poor lea, The venue should have given her a microphone so she didn’t have to yell constantly through out that warehouse! but good stuff !

There are actually a few pros that post their teaching videos online. Don’t see a lot of clinics posted, usually just a group of 4.
That's ok, but you really want to slow down, short movement.

2:21 She says ideal hitting height is at her belly level, however, she is dinking every ball at her knee level.
I think you'll find that the balls aren't bouncing to the "ideal" height. So yeah, typically after a ball bounces you will hit it at the peak height.

Have you tried it yet? It's VERY fun and is a lot more challenging than you'd think. There are numerous reasons why it's the fastest growing sport in the country. It's easy to learn, yet difficult to master. -Webby
3.5-4.0? IMO after watching 20mins this is more 2.5 at best. With that said happy to see people getting involved in PB!!
2.5? 2.5 players can’t even serve the ball in the court and if they do, it’s mostly by luck, cmon now. Idk what you classify a 2.5 but you’re way off.
Itś pretty common for people to assume that the people in videos are worse than they are. Filming yourself could be enlightening also.

Every person who attended this clinic loved it! She has a great teaching style and spent good time with each person there. This video only showed a portion of the overall clinic. -Webby

the most important thing is the GRIP position. Just like GOLF, you need a grip that can do for you in ANY circumstances.

"This" Jansen has type 1 diabetes and was told she shouldn't do singles anymore and only does doubles. She is a real pro. ALW did quite well against Tyson M..a high ranking male pro player. If Lea were healthy enough, she would make it quite hard. All she would need to do is exploit the arrogance of a man who thinks he can beat her with ease.
