Moto Guzzi V85TT "Travel" | Test Ride & First Impressions

  • Having owned a Moto Guzzi for 8 years, I have realised just how nice an engine configuration the longitudinal v-twin is. The Moto Guzzi V85 TT Travel is basically a V85TT fitted with a select few accessories from their catalogue, including panniers, heated grips, tall screen, spot lights and phone connectivity, and others.
    I was very impressed with the bike, although it wasn't perfect by any means.
    This video is my first impressions of the Moto Guzzi V85TT, it is not a full review as you can't do that after just half an hour in the saddle.
    I hope you enjoy.

    Another Moto Guzzi, you are a lucky man. I hope you get one. I don't get on well with screens either, I really have tried but haven't found one that suits my short height as yet. I am looking forward to future videos on your new bike. I have never ridden a bike with cruise control yet, maybe one day. The cruise control looks great. Great video as always and I am also a Guzzi fan and owner of a V7lll special. The TT looks like a very good bike and I do like the colour. I wonder if the vibes may disappear when it loosens up a bit. If I had room for another bike I would seriously consider this one, the most attractive feature for me being the lower seat height. Great first ride. Not a fan of the plain colours. Love the yellow/ white and red paint scheme. Just noticed the exhaust is on the different side compared to most bikes. Buffeting tends to worse be on adventure bikes. Most people reckon taller screens solve it but also lower screens also make a huge difference hence why you don’t get it on sports bike. Also worth checking where the buffeting comes from. A large amount of it on vstroms is caused by the barn door mirrors rather than the screen.

    This is NOT the bike for you. Kinda surprising because you're a V7 owner and you're familiar with Guzzis. You'd be hard pressed to find another adventure bike that fits you based on your body size and type, most adventure bikes are much taller than this. The parts of the bike that you don't like are easily adjusted at a small expense, there's no bike out of the box that fits like a glove. You always have to modify something to make it your own. The Japanese and German competition also have their own corks and advantages, some bikes are better than others depending on what you intent to do with it. There's no motorcycle that can do everything, trust me on this, I have 6 bikes in my garage. Many have complained about the horsepower of the V85TT and its ability for off road use but I don't find it to be terrible or a deal breaker. If you want to cruise at 120mph you need a BMW GS. If you want off road madness then a KTM is the one to go with. However, if you want unconventional styling, character, soul, Italian corks, and uniqueness, the V85TT is the one to have.

    • @HippoDrones
      @HippoDrones  Před 2 lety

      Thanks for your insight... I own a V85TT, I bought it soon after making this video, which well was over a year ago. I very much love the bike.
      I think some people see my comments as hating on things, they are not, very much the opposite, but if we can't be critical, then we can't make informed choices. I have 5 motorcycles currently, and agree, no single bike does all well, some do most to an adequate level, others do individual things very well, but are less adept at many others. All my motorcycles are a compromise, and the V85TT is very much a do all things bike, it just doesn't shine at all things.
