18:48 “I got a couple spare” bro has 49 paddles in this vid alone
Brayden's Tungsten Tape- non-toxic and just as effective
"Not here to sell paddles........directly" that was funny moment.
For anyone who hasnt gone to a ppa event, you should. You get to observe the play from close up. Players show amazing speed, talent. Was impressed with C.A.'s attitude & focused approach on/off the court.
You should get the Pickleball Effect tungsten tape.
Thank you Christian for giving such a detailed explanation on your paddle setup!! I learnt a lot about the setup.
Great tournament in San Clemente!! Good to see you back
Congratulations on your win ❤❤
Great vid! Nice to see how one of the best setup their paddles! All the best during this current tourney
Thanks for the in depth breakdown and led tape placement. Helps to understand what placement does and how it affects gameplay
Thank you for showing the setup!
Thank you for sharing your paddle setup. 😊
Hey Christian, love the set up vid, thanks for sharing. I’m very surprised that after that much lead it’s only weighing in at 8.5 oz! I swear, similar to ALW, you’d be thinking you’re swinging Thor’s hammer! I mod my TKO-CX that was stock at 7.7 with 12 grams lead, electrical tape over the edge guard, a Hesacore small elongated grip and an over grip and am at 8.5 oz as well!
I smooth out my lead with the side of a Sharpie or other type Pen. Also tape over the lead. Tungsten is 3X as expensive. That must be light lead since it only brings the total weight to 8.5 with how much length you put on.
Great to see ya at the Orange County Open this weekend.
Thanks so much!
Tennis I used to put lead under the factory grip or take the cap off and put silicon inside the handle. Works for PB also. One time I almost tried cement in the handle.
Agreed, I put .6 ounces on the base. Because I use so much wrist, having the counter balance will help me accelerate my head
Thanks, going to try this on my Shogun. Great paddle but I think it will benefit from some lead tape and an overgrip.
Thanks for sharing, very interesting 🎉
Great video!
lets go, been waiting on this video
Thanks, this is awesome. I am a fan . Hope to win one of your paddle.
Really would like your tips for someone who played D1 tennis and trying to improve. Suggestions on how to reset dink when pulled out wide on both forehand and backhand sides.
the white Wilson grips are the best
I weigh my paddle to 8.5 oz too! Nice video. I would love to try one of your paddles someday!
Wow that’s dope you’re giving one away each month!
With the Gen3 Joola paddles banned… I decided to go with your 12.7mm paddle. It’s a very good paddle but it’s dead around the top edges. Please have Paddletek fix that. :)
Lead increases the twistweight of a paddle, thus decreasing how much it twist in your hand when impacted by the ball. Thus, paddle becomes more stable and it opens up the sweetspot.
You should use tungsten tape, it’s non toxic.
For 3X the cost.
How do you decrease a paddle's swing weight with lead tape?
Try using the half a a gram per inch of tungsten weight instead. I personally review a lot of paddles and find that tungsten often yields a better feel off the face as its denser and stiffer leading to a pretty different resonant frequency of the tape vs lead which I think creates a much more tactile satisfying feel.
can't wait to get mine, but the 12.7 is out of stock on pickleball central and that's where my store credit is :/
Golf Lead is the best
3:19 FALSE - It's physically impossible to decrease swing weight by adding weight anywhere, ever. You can only lower your balance point, making the paddle feel less head-heavy.
3:40 Every paddle scholar knows adding weight further from the handle increases swing weight which improves power (i.e. "plow-through"),at the cost of reduced hand speed.
Gimme that !!
I want the paddle lol
DO you ever sell any of your used paddles? I would be interested if you do.
Tungsten is better. It's denser (so you don't need as much) and it's non-toxic.
I prefer Tungsten, but one isn't better than the other assuming you're handling the lead safely. Lead tape absorbs vibrations better than tungsten. Also you have more customization options with lead where you can apply strips on top of each other. Tungsten doesn't sit as well on the paddle and the balance feels off when you try to apply more than one strip on top of another.
Only a couple extra paddles
Please use tungsten tape
Lead widens the sweet spot and reduces vibration. But too much slows your reaction time.
Your reaction time stays the same. Your movement speed is what slows.
More specifically it increases the twist weight (proportionally with distance from central axis of rotation, i.e. hotdog-style centerline), which increases the stability due to creating more resistance to twisting when contacting balls off-center. It CAN also make a sweeter sweet spot, but that is a more complex interplay between the paddle shape, construction, and materials and adding weight to the sides may not improve your paddles sweet spot at all. It will always increase it's stability though.
Adding weight further from the base (i.e. on the top of the head) increases swing weight more than twist weight, and that swing weight is what slows down your hand speed. Higher twist weight won't your hand speed as much, relatively speaking. That's why adding weight lower on the paddle and further out to the sides is better, as it maximizes twist weight while keeping swing weight manageable.
Brother can you send me one please? Id love to hit one. Was rooting for you all weekend!
Christian keeps saying "electrical tape adds an ounce" where he really means tenth of an ounce
This comment! My bad 😅
Pick me, pick me! Anyway, nice job as usual. I especially appreciate you noting the toxicity of lead and being careful with that. Most others make no mention of it. Onwards and picklewards!
I am C.A. and I will never move the rankings because I speed up to BJ's forehand no matter what...
I think you mean .1 oz. Not 1 Oz
$300 paddles and people won’t spend an extra couple bucks for non-toxic tungsten tape lol.
A couple of inches of lead tape isn’t going to hurt a thing pal.
I would think that with the 100 paddles he has behind him that the cost per paddle would be why. Lead is like 20 cents a paddle and tungsten would be $10 per paddle since the smallest roll of tungsten is about $25 and with how much he puts on would be about half the roll. Just wash your hands afterwards and try not to pick your eye boogers when applying the lead tape hahaha, only a joke but really, don’t do it.
@@JovanniG678 he’s sponsored so he wouldn’t pay any of that. And his viewers are rec players who have 1-2 paddles max or 5 if they’re a paddle addict.
@@WhitePillMan I use lead but, I understand what your saying. It’s just cheaper and it works the same and I cover it with electrical tape anyways like I did with my tennis racket.
@@therandyevans evidence?
Bro has so many paddles...
"Boughten" is an adjective, not a verb :-).
Adding lead to the tip of your paddle doesn't increase spin, it increases swing weight
Yep. He went a bit weak on describing the specifics of "where for what"
pick me for the next giveaway fr
He uses so many paddles. They must not last.
Worst arts and crafts channel on YT
I heard sooo many people talk about your paddle. Saw you at the san Clemente tournament. Can’t wait to try it :)
