In order for GWM to win or compete over the Goldwing, they will need to do something crazy to have riders switch. The business is there, but how it will be done is a BIG question. Would love to test one, as a Goldwing owner. This might be a killer bike, or garbage. The issue is zero info on reliability cause its a new baby. Not a simple task.

Every other Japanese maker tried to compete with the Gold Wing. The Yamaha Venture, the Suzuki Cavalcade, The Kawasaki Voyager and Voyager XII were all good tourers, but they came and went and the Gold Wing remains. It's hard to imagine that an upstart like GWM, with no previous experience with motorcycles, will create a better product on their very first try.

Well, if the Goldwings keep shrinking, Honda will soon screw themselves. The European Goldwing styling and small bags make the Goldwing not so appealing anymore.

Hopefully this will push HONDA to get off their rear ends and actually create some new innovations and add the upgrades to the new Goldwing that loyal customers have been asking for. Like a touch screen, more power, better seats, Home link, and A better stereo. Wireless Apple CarPlay, and better Bluetooth integration.
Oh, come on HONDA. Rise to the occasion and up your game. Give us what we have been asking for so we are not forced to buy this Chinese stuff.

Yes. And not just lately over the last 20 or so years.
      Right now....don't buy German.
      Now for your second question.
"How about how far the slam-dunk reliability and quality champion Toyota and Lexus have fallen?"
Eh. This is a motorbike video and topic. But yes quality in pretty much every motor brand especially since the EV rush ( and Covid , and 2008 ) has taken a dive. This is also the same in many other manufacturing markets. High end stereos etc etc.
But as you say "slam-dunk reliability and quality" should really be kept for most other brands. Not for just "Toyota". Especially as of late...Ford ( will they be here in 5 years ) and the two main south Korean brands along with cadelshack . The dirt they are churning out. Wet belts and low compression piston rings ring a bell?
      Anyway....

Yep, exactly what I said when first saw it! Most importantly, it's a bigger bike for bigger folks as a lot of people had been hoping Honda would have done with the new GoldWing instead of shrinking it. More storage capacity, larger screen, adjustable seat. Apparently, these folks have been listening or watching Chris Calente a LOT 😂. If it proves reliable, dependable, have no bugs, or many, many recalls especially in the first three model years, and the service, support, and parts are available in the time of need. Honda will have a new contender ready for a title fight to take the belt. I'm just saying 🤷

did I hear the narrator of this video say that this has an “ inline 4 cylinder engine”???
The thing that I am concerned with, is the front end design used on BMWs that has anti-dive single shot design upfront.. I had a BMW K 1200 LT with that front end design..
because that front end design was on that BMW, I dropped my BMW not once.. but twice in walking speed parking lots. When you tap the front brakes when jockeying around, trying to find a parking spot. Touching the bricks makes a weight transfer to the front end. When the bike has anti-dive like the BMW design, that energy from all that weight in motion does not go into the fork springs like it does on every other motorcycle with a telescopic fork. That Wade has nowhere to go, but making the motorcycle feel awkward and top-heavy like a wheelbarrow with a refrigerator in it if you have the front wheel turned even slightly. My BMW was the only motorcycle I have ever dropped since the 1960s when I was a beginner. Many times I barely held that BMW up at stops.. it’s not like that was the first heavy motorcycle I ever owned, I’ve owned a Yamaha venture royale for 16 years, 138,000 miles, never dropped it, I went to the BMW, dropped it twice, then I went to Yamaha royal star venture, never dropped it, then I went to a Honda GL 1800, never dropped it, wasn’t crazy about the perfect Goldwing, because of how buried everything is when you want to do simple maintenance like just changing the air cleaner.. I do all my own work, I used to be a motorcycle mechanic at three different dealerships years ago, the dealer charges customers over $600 labor just to change the air filter in the GL 1800 Goldwing. I thought that was ridiculous, until I did the job myself. $600 is a fair price. That thing is really buried in there.
so as perfect as the Goldwing is, and it really is, the thought of having something serious go wrong was alarming so I got rid of it because labor in a shop is now $130 an hour if I had to have something repaired on the road 1000 miles from home. so I went back to another Yamaha Royal star venture, which I have at this moment in May 2024.. it’s not as smooth as a Goldwing, it’s not as powerful as a Goldwing, but it’s roomier, and it’s more comfortable, and I can get at the starter, the stater, the slave cylinder, the water pump, even the clutch without removing any plastic on my Venture.. I like simple serviceable comfortable..
this motorcycle interests me. I am going to be closely watching for dealer networks to pop up here in the United States. Motorcycle dealerships have been closing steadily over the past 40 years ever since the Harley Davidson requested tariff on imported motorcycles… before the tariff, I worked in many of the motorcycle shops that were in my area, full-time, and later, part time selling motorcycles, evenings, and Saturdays February through May. There were 22 motorcycle dealerships within an hour of my home here in Western Pennsylvania. That number has been dropping dropping dropping since the tariff was enacted by Ronald Reagan the President of the United States in 1984, Dealerships are still closing, the market never recovered from that tariff. Two motorcycle dealerships within an hour of my home, closed in the last couple years. A Yamaha Kawasaki dealership, and the only BMW ducati dealership that I know of is gone now here in 2024..
there are actually only three dealerships hanging on within an hour of my home since the tariff 40 years ago..
usually a new line dealership is a dealership that’s already in existence selling other brands. I can’t see this motorcycle company opening a dealership just a standalone dealership. It has to be an existing multi brand dealer..
if there’s not a show room floor for people to go and test sit on the seat, there’s an old, saying, “unseen is unsold”.. that is true. Here’s an example of how I have experienced that saying.
in 2018, there was one Yamaha dealership nearby still opened. I asked when he was going to be getting the new Yamaha V twin Venture in. I was very interested. I gave him my number to call me when he gets one.
The dealer informed me at that time that they are pre-order only. They will only order one when someone puts money down on one. So here it is six years later, I still want to see one, I have never seen one of those new V twin Yamaha ventures. I have never even seen one on the street passing, I’ve never seen one at a bike night. I’ve seen more Ferraris and Lamborghinis than I have the new Yamaha Venture in person..
I have had many many dozens of motorcycles of all types, duel, sports, dirt, bikes, motocross, bikes, trails, bikes, commuter, bikes, sport, bikes, factory, Road, race, bikes, big touring bikes..
I am approaching 800,000 miles of combined accumulated mileage, just on street bikes, not even counting over 40 years of off-road riding..
i’ve tried the BMW, I don’t like them. They are too different, and too expensive and too flawed, I won’t go into all the flaws, including that weird front end that BMW has that makes the bike, top-heavy, curiously, no one has copied that front end design- until now..
this machine is not going to hijack the oil, Goldwing riders of the world, especially the Goldwing riders in Europe and France, especially. I cannot believe the gigantic thousands and thousands of gold wings that show up at goldwing gatherings in France. I just can’t see The wing dingers, jumping ship for this machine, at least not yet. I know there are Goldwing understood or not happy with the newest Goldwing model that has been out since 2018. two buddies of mine had 2015 gold wings that they traded in for identical 2018 gold wings. Within four months, they traded those new 18s in on leftover 2017 gold wings while they were still available. They liked the older ones, especially their wives, saying that the luggage and the seating arrangements for the passenger are much roomier on the older ones.
I’ll be watching, and watching all the videos I can find on this machine. I’m very interested. I was a motorcycle tire test rider for Continental tires at one time..
I would like very much to have one of these new motorcycles for a year to do a long-term test..
I have a feeling that this machine could be something special. With their target market being the Goldwing riders, they are aiming very high. I don’t think they would risk that amount of capital by rushing a motorcycle to market that was not capable.
    this could be big..
