I am not a cook at all but I tried this today and now I feel like a gourmet cook. Invited 2 friends over and they accused me of buying it from the Casa del Too and putting it in the pot. This was great and very tasty with a good romaine salad on the side thank you

I hate to say this but I made some in prison one time I called it albino spaghetti because it was no red sauce it was all white🤷🤣💜
I made this. It was a HUGE hit. I used penne and added a can of rinsed black beans too. I just served the cheese on top of the bowl. They are already asking for it again! Thank you Catherine!

Just FYI, if you add Velveeta cheese instead of spaghetti and serve with those bowl-shaped chips, you have Santa Fe Soup, which is super yummy also. I also add chili beans but not everyone likes that.
Friends don't let friends eat Velveeta cheese.

My mom always broke the spaghetti, I guess she thought it would go around better or easier for us to eat. I'm not sure but when I first met my first husband and I ate spaghetti at his house he slapped my hand in front of his parents when I cut the spaghetti with the fork instead of twirling it. I couldn't eat a forkful that huge! I should have ran that day ! Well my husband now , he loves longer spaghetti he says it's supposed to be kept like the Italians without cutting or breaking but he doesn't throw a fit when I choose to break it, so thank God !

This looks good, Catherine! Just wondering...what type of bread would you serve with it? I'd was trying to think of something other than rolls or garlic bread to go along with the Taco flavor.
I made this a few days ago. It was ahuge hit with my family. My husband has requested that I make it for him to take in his lunch for work. We all (all 6 of us) loved it! Recipe is going into my recipe binder.

WHEN YOU ABSORBED THE GREASE WITH THE PAPER TOWEL I INSTANTLY KNEW YOU WERE MY KIND OF COOK !!!! I DO THAT TOO. ENOUGH ABOUT THAT I MADE THIS AND IT WAS SO GOOOOOD. IT'S BECOME A NEW FAVORITE AT OUR HOUSE THANKS !

I always break my spaghetti just like my mom did. When my son was little and she served him spaghetti she would take a kitchen scissors and cut his serving in a bowl to make it easy to eat.

That looks so delicious and I can't wait to make. I've made this before and it always turns out delicious! One thing I love about making this is that you can almost add everything but the kitchen sink and it will turn out great...in other words, use up your leftovers and make it yours.

I cut my spaghetti in 3rds and 4ths!! I've done that since the kids were little. So much easier to serve!
Just buy fideo noodles. It is a mexican spaghetti noodle that is that length already.
I have two girlfriends (we are in our 70s) that come to my house every week for a meal and movie. They are my guinea pigs for new recipes…guess what this weeks will be!

I am eating a bowl of this as I type this. I have been looking for some easy meals that I can throw together quickly. I am a caregiver to my mom, so I don't have a ton of free time to prepare "fancy" meals. I made this in about 30 minutes (I used beef bone broth and elbow macaroni since that's what I had in my pantry) and we absolutely love it! I halved the recipe and it still made a big pan, so we are going to freeze some of it and have it for another meal. I made some cornbread to go along with it, too! Thanks so much for these great ideas. I'm not the greatest cook, but your recipes are easy to follow and not complicated. So happy I found your channel!

Most Great Value items are just as good as name brands, however, there are a couple of things in name brands that my husband insists on. The Great Value brand on those two items are good enough for me.

I don’t know what is up with spaghetti being broken in half is about either. I do it because it cooks so much more evenly. Lol watching you makes me want to try this at home. You remind me so much of my aunt. She passed away quite a few years back but she used to make some awesome food and she was just as passionate about it as you seem to be about yours. I think breaking spaghetti in half is considered sacrilege to Italians as well as serving your pasta with sauce on top instead of stirring it all together.

I love mine for browning ground beef. No big chunks of meat. It makes it nice and uniform sized pieces.

Looking forward to making this! It'll be a great one-pot meal when camping. I'm 66 and love to cook but the ground meat smasher is new to me. Sure will cut down on time (I've been using the end of my wooden spatula). Also, I always break my spaghetti noodles in half. Easier to eat and definitely easier to add to a one-pot recipe! I learned that from watching my mother always break her noodles when making spaghetti.
I have to break it in half they didn't want the sauce every where
They make them in half size now! Life changed 😆 No noodles flying everywhere.
that's why you use a spoon to twirl your spagetti onto the fork. you don't need to cut the spagetti.

When cooking spaghetti, I break my spaghetti in half because I'm usually cooking for 2 so I use a smaller pan. The smaller pan requires less water and heats up faster but full length spaghetti won't fit!
Another time saving tip is to buy a few pounds of ground beef. Cook the ground beef with onion. Drain it well and divide the mixture into quart zip lock freezer bags in a flat layer in the amounts you will most likely need for meal. Freeze it and when you want to make something like this (or a lot of other things that require ground beef & onion like regular tacos for example), just take out a bag, put it a few seconds in the microwave to defrost, put a few drops of oil in a skillet and heat up the meat mixture adding whatever you need to complete the dish.

I leave spaghetti in packet, then place bag on the edge of your counter and break it that way. Then it’s just a matter of emptying the packet in in one foul swoop.
The was wonderful!! We did add a can of drained/rinsed pinto beans that added another whole layer of flavor and texture to the dish. The addition of the beans made it much richer in our opinion. Looking forward to trying more from you!

I was in culinary school and broke my spaghetti and the Chef had a fit! Never break pasta he yelled and I told him that is what my Mama did! He said no breaking because the pasta is rolled on spoon before eating it!
LOL You can then roll the pasta onto the spoon in smaller pieces!!! LOL

This recipe popped up on my YT home page and let me say..... It was fabulous. I am 62 and my husband is 67. We live next to 3 disabled vets. I am the only cook out of the bunch. I try to cook for everyone at least 3 or 4 times a week and am always looking for new recipes to try. It was quick, easy, affordable and super yummy. Thank you for this. Regarding not breaking the spaghetti, it's tradition in Italy to keep it long. Italians never break it. Properly eaten in Italy, it's slurped up into your mouth. Also, it changes the appearance of the dish of spaghetti when it's broken rather than left in long strands. Italians love their long spaghetti! I'm married to one!
I AM one & I break my spaghetti now that my Italian grandpa isn't here to accuse me of being adopted, because no REAL, self respecting Italian breaks the spaghetti!! Bless his big old Italian heart! I miss him every day... been gone 32 years. God bless... and as for the pasta... broken, full length... really doesn't matter... it's that you eat a good Italian pasta meal every so often... It's good for the soul! (Papa always said that too!) 😍

Perfect dish when you're running late. It's good. We used one pound of spaghetti and added 6 cups nsa broth. Also used ground turkey.
