The city of Whitehorse in the Yukon Territory on a beautiful July day. Approaching from the North over the Yukon River. Great footage of a floatplane landing ahead of the camera plane.
Omg, along that flightpath lie 2 of my homes, and I had a houseboat-restaurant business on Schwatka lake - ha!- the in- and out-going daily floatplanes liked to swoop low above my deck laden with passengers, tried to scare the ! out of me, but never succeeded.
That video reminds me of the countless times I landed the Air North Cessna 185 C-FZRF just south of the dam and made the radio call to Whitehorse tower .... "ZRF final for Schwatka" and would hear .... "No reported traffic, cleared to land at Schwatka Lake, pilot's discretion." Some of the best times of my life where those years spent in Whitehorse. Many's the time I wish I were still there.
I cannot believe this video is 9 years old already. It’s been in my favourites since it was published. Our quaint little town has undergone substantial growth and transformation since this was filmed.. a current flyby video to compare would be immensely appreciated.. cheers
Very beautifully pictured and in a single shot explored the whole beauty of Whitehorse , masterpiece city on earth captured in a professional way , well done
Great memories of flying in the Yukon while I was based in Whitehorse. Beautiful video quality! The river level seems higher than I remember it. All the best, and as Bob Hope used to sing at the end of his performances .... "Thanks For The Memories."
Nope in the 70's and worked for Air North when the operation was first starting. I was the first full-time pilot that worked for Joe and "Ace." I loved it there and was well treated, the flying type was great, but I left due to what at the time were limited professional advancement possibilities. That was to later change of course, and many's the time I wished I'd remained.
I have been so long away from Home .. Working with N.A.T.O. in other Lands.. THANK-You for this wonderful update on our City !!! Sure has grown !!! Hope to be able to come home soon ... Thank-You for showing Her to me !!! All the very Best

What a beautiful city, would love to move there from LA.
Let"s Say: it is a nice small town in the middle of nowhere. :)
Now we're two. In my case from Barcelona... I'm tired of big cities, hot winters and unbearable summers.
Definitely less traffic....
if you can handle -45 in the winter time sure ..... move here....
@@reservoirgod8632 I grew up in Michigan, I can handle it. -45 is a bit of an exaggeration though, lol.

Wow. Whitehorse is really a beautiful place. My aunty goes to Whitehorse all the time. I wouldn't mind visiting.
Left there in 74’. Miss it. Watched the old paddle boat burn to ground. Loved hunting/fishing.
Watching this for the nth time. Such a beautiful video of Whitehorse. Can't wait to go back :)
Great video, thanks for posting. I lived here briefly in the 90's, it's great to see it again.
