Manumisson closing had a power cut because of a crazy storm, and the whole club with 10,000 in it was in darkness. Amazing memories.

I worked there for Manumission from 98,I had some outstanding times there ,absolutely fucking amazing
I wish I could have experienced that event but unfortunately I hadn’t reached the island still. I’ve been lucky to work with the some of the workers and similar concepts over the years but manumission was something special. I’m the crazy piano man from pikes that’s now owned by one of the manumission guys. Closest I’ll get ha

Privilege was ace as Ku in the early 90s before Ibiza became overrun with nobheads

Drumsheds is what i think every time i hear biggest club in the world.
1984 at the age of 17 went for first time , Swimming pool with "KU" written at the bottom, it was the coolest place I had ever seen. I remember there was a wall full of amps & graphic equalisers behind a glass front. Was the hippest place on the island at the time and I feel so lucky to have gone during those early years.

Used to love ASOT at Privilege.

It was mental because of the place itself, the sheer size of it. If I remember correctly it had a dance floor that extended just over the swimming pool area very near the dj box and when dancing on it with hundreds of other people the floor actually wobbled slightly. It had entertainment people walking around trying to freak you out but not in a bad way. Remember about 5 in the morning the full club went nuts when the club play Sarah McLaughlin delirium, think that’s the correct name. Anyway I will never forget it. I’m 46 now but coming back to Ibiza next year for 4 nights so might go back to privilege if it is back open👌
Who knows if it’ll be open next year if it is then fuck me. They’ll have to spend tens of millions to make that work. I reckon it’s going to be 20,26 but next year they may promote the opening. But who am I to say anything, The family who own it now spent over 20 million on a hotel in the Bay of San Antonio a few years ago and completely renovated a full scale massive Hotel within just a few months and had it open. I remember it well they had over 200 workers working on it night and day 24 hours non-stop. They were literally sleeping in the hotel and working back to back shifts so if this is anything like that with it being the same owners then who knows it might open next week ha ha
favorite memory was seeing Maceo Plex there in 2019! Absolutely massive night….got to meet the man and get few pictures with him!
That was its final year as the privilege we know so you got to witness the club in its last season

Ibiza is a forever changing island and to keep involving means to keep current. It’s such a shame I agree and Ibiza will never be the same but that’s the beauty of it also. It’s like a curse
My first time in ibiza 2017, we went for radio 1 weekend, above and beyond headlined incredible night
Above and beyond are by far, my favourite DJs. The album group therapy literally came to me when I needed it. It was literally therapy for my mental health

I was “ Privileged “ ( excuse the pun ) to go to Ibiza in 1998 when I was 19 and went to a Manumission night at Privilege. I’ll be totally honest in saying I was that smashed I was licking the walls and can’t remember for the life in me which DJ’s played that night apart from John Kelly but the venue blew me away. I never went to another Manumission night after that but that was generally the start of my Clubbing years to come . Sad times to see it looking this way I really hope they do something just as influential as the club was and not just turn it into another VIP event for the mega rich.

Went twice to Privilege.... 2008 Tiesto & Fonzerelli, and again in 2013 for Radio 1 Ibiza Weekend live essential mix with Pete Tong, Eric Prydz & Danny Howard - Still feel like I missed out though, Should I? Can't help feeling I wish I could have seen so many more nights in the 90s and the 2000s!... and the fuckin sex shows! hahaha
Hey if you had a good night then you didn’t miss out. There’s always going to be some time you hear of that you think you were there. You were there when it was privilege and that’s about to be a thing of the past now by the time the new owners are done with it. It was iconic whichever year you went :)
They are going to make a state-of-the-art arena in it, imagine blowing proper techno in there going to be lit.
I think whatever they do it'll be mega. I just hope it doesn't turn into a vip snob fest. The island certainly doesn't need another one vibe like that. Exiting times though I can't wait to see the result!
@@ibizaamigos I don't think so, Hi Ibiza is exclusive and VIP. Ushuaia is outdoors yet limited space. Privilige with a 10.000 capacity is going to be for the masses. Sure some VIP tables perhaps on a balcony, yet the main floor will be massive. Charlotte de Witte, Amelie Lens, big names going to residence that arena.
@@vmaestro-xj9mp what I’d love to see happen is bookings for live bands. I’m a big fan of electronic music but a venue on the island for that live band atmosphere would be amazing!

Hi Ibiza is mainstream David Guetta and stuff with a high VIP level, Ushuaia is the same yet outdoors. It's the same owner, they are going to program a lot of techno in there.
@@vmaestro-xj9mp I think you’re forgetting amnesia. Also techno imho has had its time. Any music that people just side step for hours to isn’t exciting enough. People need to be entertained and techno simply doesn’t cut it anymore. Live music will never die!
first time there we went to manumission ( near its end ) but off our tits in the outside dome , great memories! good to see the venue being put back into operation, what ever happens....

Businesses cant find workers because of rent prices. Overpriced itself into a ghost town.
I don’t think it was that I think it was the fact that it was so big that to make it worthwhile opening along with paying all the staff and hiring all of the alcohol. They would have had to sell a certain amount of tickets each event but to sell out privilege with its size. You have to have big name DJs, and unfortunately the big name DJs were already snapped up by the monopoly that is High, Ibiza and Ushuaia. a few years of competing with that and you get to where we are now

I think it’s due to the fact they want to keep things a secret and also a lot of it is under construction so the place is super dangerous to be in there. Maybe they haven’t got planning permission to do the work, who knows the speculation list goes on

Does the spiritual music loving Ibiza I used to hear so much about in my youth still exist in some form where people go for the love of the music? Or has it been completely taken over by the snobby rich twats who just care what others think of them and price everyone else out? Where can you still go for the spiritual side now that the old Privilege has gone?? What I wouldn't give to see Pete Tong DJ at sunset at cafe mambo on radio 1 like old times. Used to always hear it but never saw it in person!
There’s still hidden gems on the island that try to hold onto the essence of that era of course. You just have to seek it out. We saw Tiesto there and the place was packed to the rafters at 80 Euros a ticket. I noticed that his decks had no cables attached, but I thought they must have done something clever to hide them. I later went up the stairs at the rear of the place and stood by a large booth, where I saw a guy mixing Tiesto's tracks. He put his finger to his lips to imply I say nothing. I kid you not.
