Am actually glad u made this video, because not all Ghanaians speak fluent English, so if u approach one and u get an awkward reaction it’s not because u’re Nigerian it’s because they find it stressful and worrisome to switch to English to be able to communicate with u. Also Ghanaians are just extra courteous of meeting new people. It doesn’t mean they don’t like u, the world these days u just never know. It’s better to be safe than sorry. 💯🤷🏽‍♂️

Lily, originally or traditionally, we never precede greetings with the word "Please". It has been added recently. "Please" was used when you're requesting something or asking questions.
I learned the Twi language from primary up to the High School level. "Please" was never used to precede greetings.
An average Nigerian can communicate in the English Language either in pidgin or the correct English language than an average Ghanaian. Ghanaians like using the local language in communicating even if they are educated.

Lily, you can still play along with your Ghanaian friends and/or older people, so as long as you're pleasant and cool with the old..🤷🏽✌️.
It is all about the vibe with that Ghanaian, that's all..

Most of Nigerian living in Ghana knows this but they intentionally did , and when you reacted they will turned back and say Ghanaian don’t like Nigerians there is proverb that says if you go Rome do what Romans do , but some Nigerians think they are superior than others so when you see them in your country they behaves anyhow that is the one of the problems Nigeria got .

The Twi is mainly used by the Asantes and a few other Akan tribes, but there are many other common dialects spoken by the majority of the tribes mosly in the mid & eastern.
The southern parts of Ghana 🇬🇭 who speak Akan and are called Akans as well.....and they are Asantes, Fantes, Akuapems, Assins, & the Akyems. We all speak the Akan and can understand each other even though with slight differences in tonation, pronunciations, & annunciations as well.

In Ghana, we normally communicate in English when we meet a white, but trust me, we recognize every dark person as Ghanaian, hence we suddenly communicate with you in our local dialect ie, mostly twi.

Culturally, we are mandated to find a traveller a bed, food to eat and water to wash. All you needed to do is mention your village, family name, etc. And by all means you will be directed to a household.
If not, the Chief's Palace is your last resort.

What you said about allowing someone to stay with, I don't like people visiting mothers readonly is what you said and I also don't visit cos am an asthmatic and a lot oh heart issues so if am visiting someone I let them know and I make sure I visit the nearest hospital and the person am visiting will make sure I get someone my health info given cos I might not know what will happen. All my friends know to do CPR and offer emergency medication to me in case i have any lapses . It really serious issue

Now to greet too, you have to add please?,....forget about those old people in those villages who have reached their menopause. If i greet and they don't reply becuz i don't add please then i won't greet them again,....cuz I'm not cut out for their old and archaic mentality 😒😏🤔🤔
