I've learned that playing often gives less elo. so let's say you play 7 games per week. if you play all 7 games in 1 day you might not rank up. how ever if you played those 7 games spread out over the week or even 2 weeks. you might rank up once maybe even twice (assuming you win them all)
Nah, I was silver like 2 and I carried a game against a team of legendary eagles and we barely won and it didn’t rank me up at all. So stats and rank don’t matter, just win or loss.
I just had a game with dmgs and eagles, i didnt rank up as the ONLY silver elite when we 9-0, yet two of my teammates ranked up, including one below me on board ☠️☠️
15 matches without loss, mixed long and short matches, Premier and direct map pick … no rank up. Then L W L and on that 18th match with L I de-ranked. I was always top 2 fraggers/MVP. Thanks Valve

Honestly if you play silver just sell Silver 1 accounts on websites. They are most expensive since its the hardest rank to get. They used to start at 20$. Global accounts are cheaper since its easier to get than silver1
I remember the times when we used to derank to have fun in low lobbies. I can safely say from experience that 4-6 wins 1 loss and 4-6 wins is the best way to uprank fast
The best thing to rankup in cs is winning like 4 games PER WEEK, if u don’t loose and win, go play on another account to spam wins and come back the next week. It worked for me and my cousin to reach global.
Just a tip, ALWAYS play short matches if you try to rank up quickly. That's what we always do on our boosting server. Takes a maximum of 3 games to rank up if you have a prior winstreak of at least 5 games, but it doesn't get shorter than that. However, make sure that you queue up with a lobby because many boosted accounts and smurfs - also cheaters - queue short matches too. Just a heads up.
Bullshit. I hat a shortgame winstreak of 16 and did not rank up from LEM to supreme. Took me a winstreak of 8~9 long matches to get to global afterward
When I got Nova 3, I managed to rank up after 1-2 wins all the way to MG1. I think a lot more goes into ranking than the wins alone but again, the ranking system is a huge mystery.
Time increases rank uncertainty and the impact of your next match on your elo. In addition, the following plays a role: ranks of opponents + round win/loss ratio + mvp stars
I played on multiple accounts silver to global. Long matches definitely rank you up faster. If you’ve been stuck in a rank for a long period of time it will be harder to get out of it because of your MMR. I remember ranking up an account that was stuck in silver for a year and it was a pain.
I just know 7 years ago from supreme to global, you could win 10 matches in a row but if you lose 2 or 3 games, you could say bye bye to supreme for a lot of games again.
i have also often times ranked accs up to global. it is still a complete mystery to me, sometimes I need absurd amounts of wins (like 21), then other times its really just 2 or 3. Ranking down is btw also not so easy. One or two deranks are fast, but if you want to rank down to silver 1, you have to be really patient
I prefer short matches, for example, my last rank in cs (a couple of years ago) was mge, after I lost my rank, I had to play a match to regain it, I played a short match and got LE, and from there, I played short matches to GE
Not sure how it holds up in 2023, but back during lockdown performance in matches was a thing. If you have 20+ kills, it takes a lot less matches to rank up, but many loses to rank down. On the other end, sub 15 kills wins took a lot of wins to rank up, but you could derank after 2-3 losses with that performance.
Getting to GE for the first time I made myself a little statistics. I might not remember numbers exactly, but it was something like this: only long matches, no short matches then, from 50 matches I won 42 times (27 games win streak) and like 5 times was a draw, only 3 lost. Over 80 % times I was on the top of the scoreboard (across all players, not just my team). Getting to GE later was a lot easier. When I dropped due to inactivity to LEM, took me about 2 wins to get to SEM and another 3 wins to get back to GE. On the other hand, I also dropped from GE all the way to DMG (wtf), going each rank down per 2 losses, literally regardless of wins or my performance. It is indeed one big black box.
In Danger Zone I once got a downrank when I won so since then I knew the ranked system is so broken. Another time I literally got 4 downranks in Wingman in 5 matches
Couple years back me and a full premade went hard in csgo after a long break for a year, we had a 30ish give or take win streak between 2 days in master guardian and no rank up, i and most finnish ppl in a trading group im in believe it's not the amount of games it's the consistency you gotta win couple everyday and it's not any slower than winning 20 a day. Similar experiments happened alot during the first month before we got back to decent ranks.
Many things are taking into account. Result of the match, how many rounds you win, individual impact (not necessary kills), your team rank and the other team rank.
back in the day I'd win a dozen games in a row without ranking up, but came back to play for the first time in years recently and after placement game ranked up 4 games in a row
remember when Basalt was added? me and a couple of friends queued short mm basalt only and won like 30 out of 40 matches with a 14 winstreak and i had only gotten 1 uprank which was from LE to LEM and it was before the 14 win streak. this ranking system is a mystery
I found my way of ranking up. I found a tiny "loop hole" abd managed to rank up in only 4 games. From DMG to Global Elite, and no I'm not bad at counting, I simply left out LEM since I somehow skipped that rank. The way I did it was, I only played a match every time I got unranked (about once every month) and won every single time. When you unrank you basically go all in with either losing most of your elo or gaining a lot of elo. So in just 4 months I went from a DMG to a Global. It's very stupid but worked for me. Also, I only played short matches if anyone was curious.
I played this game very long time. I have over 3500 wins without cheat or something. Always up and down in ranks. And you need be +4 in role. But if lose 2 and win 4 = you only +2 so you need win 2 more to be 4+. Sometime it can be 5 if you enemys rank not so high and u did not many mvp's. If you have a long win stike and you very strong in mvps every game, it can be rank up in+3 games if your mvp 10+ togheter. But most time its +4. Have a nice day
The more you win the less you get. My friend had a few month break and he ranked up from dmg to supreme in like 6 game win streak while I got only one rankup
It’s actually pretty simple. Be on a wining streak and play 2 matches per day. If you don’t lose you can rank up every day with only 2-3 matches. I ranked up from silver elite to gn2 in 4-5 days
me and my friends were around LEM-SMFC, and we always got matched up against gn3s-mg2s 17 game win streak wasnt enough, but a 2 loss against these ranks after 17 wins was enough to derank
I mean, ELO in CS2 is also pretty effed up, you get matched with 5 stacks all the time, you get very big difference between elo and the wins or losses against those big differences don't correlate with the elo points you get for winning/losing much.
dude i deranked EVERY GAME when i had a little loss streak from MG2 to Silver Elite Master, and then needed 41 Wins to rank up once, there even was a winstreak of 17 wir me being topfragger in 9 of them without ranking up - thank god that shits gone
I won 29 games in a row in lem without ranking to supreme lmao. Now years later I ranked lem-sup with only like 5 win streak after not playing for a while and getting lem as start rank
after playing mm for 5+ years here is what I learnt if you are consistently winning and not stuck in one rank for long, it will be easier to rankup for example: when I got to global on my main, I started to grind on my alt account which was gnm, and ranked up really easily, while on my main, one rank would need like 10-15 wins in a row but this system only applies for rankup, which means that deranking is always at the same rate if you are about to rankup then it takes like 4 losses in a row to derank, while usually it takes 2-3 in a row to derank (in mm it is impossible to derank if you ranked up just now and you lose only 1 game, but in wingman you can both rankup and derank with one win or loss) (Also warowl made one video back in the day where he said that mvp mattered in rankup but I don't think that is the case because mostly I saw bottom fraggers who had better win streak but low mvp and kd get ranked up before me) (another video once said that it's easier to rankup when you play less matches in a day, like 3 wins in 3 days > 6 wins in one day something like this, but it has not been proven by anyone and I have not observed it as well) AND YES CS2 FOLLOWS THE SAME RANKING SYSTEM OUTSIDE OF PREMIERE
Honestly, this is why I prefer playing comp valorant compared to csgo. I know when I'm going to rank up/derank, but now, with cs2, I will be playing both.
I'm silver 4 right now because after months of not playing I won once after that a 6 loss streak and after every loss i ranked down, my opponents were lem and le and once mg2, the maximum rank I ever got was gnm. I remember me and my friends were crying since we all were silvers and couldn't even win a single round.
I was Gold Nova Madter for like 60 games. Ofc I didn't win everything , but every now and then I would have a 4/5 games winstreak that I would ruin with a lose. One week ago I finally ranked up after 5/6 wins .
My match history was 28 wins 2 losses at LEM. Lost 3 in a row due to team mates afk and abandoning and a game against a blatant cheater and I deranked.
It’s not really a secret, it’s called the Glicko system and I’m pretty sure it’s outsourced thru a separate company and not valve. Either way if you can understand the formulas they use then you can predict rank ups
"it's not really a secret". "if you know the formula, you can predict rankups" So, do you know the formula? Otherwise, it's a secret. What a nonsense comment lol
it really depends how you perform in your games and the difference in score. if you streak as a bottom frag, eight-nine games. as a top frag 3-4 with a large disparity in rounds won. some ranks are just easier to pass through because there are less people in them. when i went through dmg it was only two games. to hit global it did take like eight, good streak games
For those who are still curious how cs go rank up works (why would you be, system is about to change completely): In cs go time that passes between your games matters. There is supposed range which corresponds to *accuracy* of your current rank. With time you don't play competitive, this accuracy window grows larger(cz data is not up to date anymore, you could have became worse after the pause or grind faceit non stop), and you can rank up and down easier. So what does it mean. If you play consistently, every day and your win lose ratio is 50/50, with every game system confirms that your rank is correct, so if after this you immediately go into win streak, it must really be huge to have an impact, like 7-10 games sometimes. On the other hand, if you make a pause, don't play competitive for a week, and then you have win streak, rank up is really easy. Cs go developers disclosed several years ago that their rating system is modified version of glicko-2 algorithm, how it works is public, though how exactly they modded it is mystery. Rank accuracy parameter is really the core concept of the alorithm though.
There WAS 1 trick to rank up in CS:GO, it was playing no more than 1 game a day and ofc win it. The CS:GO ranking worked through a spread, and the more you play, the less the spread becomes. Which in turn also "Locks" the ranking more. So 1 game a day, win it and never more than duo queue. Will take average of 2-3 games per rank up. Helped multiple m8s reach supreme and global and above was the fastest way (In gametime) to achieve rank-ups. For CS2 it is not like this, so it only counts for CS:GO.
I just came off a 15 win streak with one tie in the middle and I ranked up on the 13th game. most of them we're against like Gold Nova's and MGs for some reason though, for reference I was LEM. I think who you're playing against is the biggest factor, like if the game predicts you're gonna win and you do the ELO gain is butchered.
Short matches are always super sweaty, super tryhard. If you wanna rank up fast go for 3 or 4 long matches per WEEK. You dont have to win a lot of matches. When weekly exp boost expires you play for (almost) nothing.
I'm probably biased but spacing out my games helped a lot with ranking up. For example I would play 2 games and win both in a day. After that I stopped playing for like 5 days or a week and played another 2 and won both. I ranked up in these situations more times compared to grinding games in a single day. My logic behind why it works this way is valve recognizes that if you can come back to the game after a break and still win, then thats more impressive than nonstop playing.
I can say without a doubt in silver and gold elo takes me 10+ wins in a row even if im top frag every game, someboy im playing w bot frag will typically rank up first
mOe once said on stream that he had to win 15 games straight to rank up to global from supreme, this was back in like 2017-2018 though so im not sure if its been updated since.
easiest way was(maybe they fixed it after 10 years) that you had to wait one week, then win game ans you instantly gdy rankup. it takes time but you have guarranted global after few months
It’s happened to me before where I won around 10 games in a row, no rank up then lost 2 and deranked. I cannot fucking wait for cs2 where it tells you what elo you gonna win/lose coz the current ranking system is grade A bullshit.
I’m between LE and LEM at the moment and I swear to god it’s silver lobby after silver lobby in terms of skill, also placement is everywhere, I’ll see a MG2 and a global in the same team
I won like 8-9 games in a row recently and went from silver elite to gn3 in one day. I wasn't even playing very good cuz I haven't played the game in a year or so except a few games here and there after a couple of months.
Say that to me a few years ago when I dis 24 consecutive wins wirh 0 losses every game around 60 score to rank up from GN1 TO GN2. That shit pissed me off. And I deranked in 1 loss.
I got 8 wins in a row and didn't rankup , then lost 3 games in a row and ranked down 😂

It’s not really a secret, it’s called the Glicko system and I’m pretty sure it’s outsourced thru a separate company and not valve. Either way if you can understand the formulas they use then you can predict rank ups
"it's not really a secret". "if you know the formula, you can predict rankups"
So, do you know the formula? Otherwise, it's a secret. What a nonsense comment lol
@@BoomerSimpsonAnd the glicko algorithm is free to look up yourself online dumbass
it really depends how you perform in your games and the difference in score. if you streak as a bottom frag, eight-nine games. as a top frag 3-4 with a large disparity in rounds won. some ranks are just easier to pass through because there are less people in them. when i went through dmg it was only two games. to hit global it did take like eight, good streak games
Sat on a 70-win streak on smfc, lost 1, and deranked.
Here lies the best example of, “This did not age well”.
For those who are still curious how cs go rank up works (why would you be, system is about to change completely):
In cs go time that passes between your games matters.
You rank up when you do things that are “outside of the box”
I just came off a 15 win streak with one tie in the middle and I ranked up on the 13th game. most of them we're against like Gold Nova's and MGs for some reason though, for reference I was LEM. I think who you're playing against is the biggest factor, like if the game predicts you're gonna win and you do the ELO gain is butchered.
Was gn3… took a break and won one to get MG2 😎… it has been 2 weeks with roughly equal wins/losses, still MG2
Short matches are always super sweaty, super tryhard. If you wanna rank up fast go for 3 or 4 long matches per WEEK. You dont have to win a lot of matches. When weekly exp boost expires you play for (almost) nothing.
4-5 win streak to rank up. Me with 14 win streak to rank up and 3 losses to derank..
i love the 12 round in cs2 so much better
It took me 19 wins with a few losses in between from SMFC to GE
If u never reach a certain rank, it needs more win to reach that rank.
I can say without a doubt in silver and gold elo takes me 10+ wins in a row even if im top frag every game, someboy im playing w bot frag will typically rank up first
I won 15 Games as a Supreme and then ranked up when i won the 16th
It usually takes me around 3 to 6 in short matches
Normally I would win 4 game - 3 and throw 1 so the system wouldn’t think I’m a Smurf then I would rank up the next game
Well Wingman ranks are a whole different story. Once won like 13 Matches in a row on global, lost 3 and deranked
16 win-steak no rank up from LEM to SMFC.
This was back in 2016/17. We queues only canals but it caused me to quit
mOe once said on stream that he had to win 15 games straight to rank up to global from supreme, this was back in like 2017-2018 though so im not sure if its been updated since.
once I got around 13 wins in a row with no rank up, then lost 2 games and deranked
That’s why I think I’m yardstick Nova haha
12 games won in a row, no rankup. Then 2 losses, 2 times de-rank 😂😂
won 5 in a row, ranked up, lost 1, ranked down. gg volvo
easiest way was(maybe they fixed it after 10 years) that you had to wait one week, then win game ans you instantly gdy rankup. it takes time but you have guarranted global after few months
Funny story... I won 12 in a row as supreme and lost 1 then deranked. I then lost two more, and then won 1 and ranked back to supreme...
I was dmg, won 13 games in a row, and still didn't rank up, but that was 7 years ago
It’s happened to me before where I won around 10 games in a row, no rank up then lost 2 and deranked. I cannot fucking wait for cs2 where it tells you what elo you gonna win/lose coz the current ranking system is grade A bullshit.
Didn’t expect nade king to have Scottish pals
It doesnt matter how many wins, but how well you play my god
all up to supreme rank ups are 4-5 wins, Global is like 7-9 in total. Atleast for me any my friend back in the day.
I’m between LE and LEM at the moment and I swear to god it’s silver lobby after silver lobby in terms of skill, also placement is everywhere, I’ll see a MG2 and a global in the same team
,,Usually it takes 4 games to rank up''
Meanwhile me after winning 11 games in a row just to lose 1 and derank
I won like 8-9 games in a row recently and went from silver elite to gn3 in one day. I wasn't even playing very good cuz I haven't played the game in a year or so except a few games here and there after a couple of months.
Bro it took me 13 wins 1 loss and then 1 win again to go from LEM to SMFC.
My friend just got 5 loss row, and then won 3 games in a row and went 3 ranks up lol
CS2: Im bouta make it 2x worse
Say that to me a few years ago when I dis 24 consecutive wins wirh 0 losses every game around 60 score to rank up from GN1 TO GN2. That shit pissed me off. And I deranked in 1 loss.
And now cs 2 shows you all what matters
I ranked up in csgo 5 times in a row up to legendary eagle this game was crazy
