Can't base it off of one hand. That's like saying you should've stood on 16 against dealer face because the dealer didn't have it and would've busted had you stood on 16. You play by the book and the basic strategy says to double soft 18 against dealer 6. Ofc it's not gonna work every time, but in the long run you'll be ahead more often than not.
