Hey Jeff, just picked one up and all is working. Question: How can I screen mirror my Android phone to the Tbox plus?
Honestly that's not something I've tried. I just run the apps directly on the Tbox Plus. I think if you contact support@autokitcarplay.com you can get carbitlink which I believe enables what you're looking for. I'm not 100% though.
Thanks for all of your videos on this. I just picked it up using your code! It was only $145 total which I think is a great price for this. I've been using my Motorola M1 AA adaptor which I had since it first came out. In the past I've been using AAAD to force certain apps to show up on AA but the experience wasn't that great overall but it was free so I couldn't complain. 😊 I'm wanting to finally try a full Android box now. I basically want an Android tablet experience now and not rely on my phone so much.
Question tho. So I'm assuming this has OTA updates? Are you having to manually update the firmware due to some beta features or so? I'm just a little confused with all of these updates. 😊
Nice! Yeah it's a great price and will definitely give you the tablet experience. Regarding the updates, I am testing a few with newer features, but yes it has OTA updates using an app that's installed on it called FOTA Upgrade.

Yeah I could've gotten the box on Amazon for next day shipping but I decided to support your channel instead plus it was cheaper. =) Now just the waiting period of up to 2 weeks or so. I do wish these China based companies do have US offices to store these at for faster shipping but hey saving money is saving money I guess. Amazon would've been around $200 and I just didn't want to spend that much on something that could be outdated in 2 more months who knows. =) I just need it fast enough to do most of the media things. I'm not planning to put games directly on it other then using Gamepass to stream games so I can't wait. Direct games will probably be emulation games if anything vs modern titles.
Yes please let us know if any valid firmware that we should be on. I haven't used Nova launcher in a while and still have my Nova Prime I believe. All I want is split screen and I'm happy.
Nice yeah this should work well for you. Thanks for supporting my channel. One of the reasons I worked with the company I did is because they provided at a better price than anywhere else I found and they have great customer service too. I know a lot of people have had issues with Amazon sellers not providing good service and you want to make sure that you have good service with a device like this.

Hey Brian - yeah I was a little apprehensive at first, but since it came from them directly I decided to try it out. It has been working great for me. I'm really glad to have the Split-Screen Presets again. An official update will come eventually, but they didn't know when. They did say this update will receive official updates OTA when they are available.
For what it's worth, they advised me the firmware I shared does work with the European version too. In case you wanted to try it out.

Thanks for your extensive video, here are a few questions from the Netherlands, Europe, I have had the box for a few days now, very satisfied so far. When I start my car, the system also starts automatically, so far, no problems. But every time during startup, all apps are mixed up. Is there a way to save your sorted apps? The box comes with a short USB cord as standard, but if I use a longer cord, the box does not work properly for me. then the screen goes black, is this a known problem? thank you in advance for your feedback.
I'm glad to help. Regarding the sorted apps, it should keep your apps in the order you set them on the home screen. Mine (and others) don't change unless you change the resolution or screen zoom. Yours change each time? As for the cable, it needs to be a high quality data cable. Some cables out there are not very high quality or don't transmit data well and won't work reliably. But a high quality data cable can be used. I've used it many times with a 3 foot cable.
@TechnicallyJeff which cord should I get? And how do I know which cords are high quality data transfer-able? I've been looking for one for a while on Amazon, couldn't find one that works better than the one the box came with

Hi Jeff. Do you happen to encounter problem with CZcams? Since day one. CZcams always straightly goes into full screen mode and my player can't seems to exit the fullscreen mode, be it by back button or that bottom right icon. Android 12
Hmm I have not had that issue. Try this - go into the settings and find the software build number and tap it a bunch of times to enable developer mode. Then find developer settings and find "min-width" and set it to 700 px. See if that fixes it.
Is this the same update that they quickly removed? The update is great but i wish splitscreen shortcuts would work on other launchers i still cant get them to work, would also be nice when activating the split screen you can get to the app list to pick an app instead loading them first to show up in the recent list.
I don't think there was one that was removed. I updated mine in October and it wasn't this one. I agree though, split screen shortcuts with other launchers would be nice and the app list.
So when I use CarPlay on my tbox I go into my Bluetooth setting and click the tbox on my iPhone which automatically launches CarPlay. Is there another way? Maybe in a newer version? I wish I didn’t have to pick my phone up at all to launch CarPlay and it did it automatically or just pushing the button in the tbox. But I always have to go to Bluetooth every time and choose it that way.
To use Carplay on the tbox plus you just tap the autokit app and it loads it up. You can set autokit to automatically load when the Tbox powers up too in the autokit settings.
Hi Jeff, great video. I would like to use a launcher but also use the floating point option for split screen and the other features. Does this work with this latest update? And what would be the difference between a North American version and an European firmware version?
With launchers the floating button works but for split screen, you go to task manager and then tap the icon above the app and tap split screen. As for NA vs Europe, I'm honestly not sure.
The firmware depends on the regional hardware of your TBox. European models support different cellular bands compared to North American models.
Is that the only difference?
@@TechnicallyJeff Yes I believe so, that's why the firmwares are different. They have to account for the different radio frequencies.

Downloaded the latest FW but now it boots automatically into Autokit (CarPlay) no matter what I choose as a boot up app, or even leave as none. Any info about this? Bug maybe?
Oh really? Hmm I haven't heard of that issue... You could try force stopping it. Or reinstall the old version
Hi Jeff, Thank you for the videos. They are very useful. Just wanted to say that split screen options are not available at some reasons. I just got my T Box Plus. It is updated by the last version, and there are no split screen options at all. Just have no idea how to adgust the split screen and have not only 50/50 split screen. Thanks
I'm glad they are useful! Yes, the presets are not there in the latest public firmware. You can change it from 50/50 though by going into the "factory settings" using password 4545. I have mine set to 40/60 personally.

@@TechnicallyJeff nova was actually already working for me.. I wanted the split screen presets from an icon. FYI you can still actually do it from the app switcher (which wasn't working before if you had a custom launcher but ideally this would be from an icon). What I really had about the interface is the fact that you need the "floating bubble" to go back, and open the app switcher.. I really wish this was just on the main interface, maybe holding the home button for a second should open a fly out with back and app switch on it.
@@i00Productions oh gotcha. Yeah this update brought full launcher support for the floating bubble, multitasking window, back button, etc. But yeah the presets would be nice to have with Nova. And you should send them that idea!
AAC codec is removed from Bluetooth audio in the latest version, now sound quality is really bad when playing from the phone.

Do you know if with an Apple phone the hotspot still holds when switching over between android OS and Carplay modes? My FW which is "up to date" according to their FOTA checker still drops the wifi hotspot when switching to carplay, and does not automatically reconnect when I switch out.
I don't know if iphones allow that. Do you have the "hotspot and wifi at the same time" enabled?

I have two TBox plus. One is used with an Android phone, and the other with an iPhone. Both are getting the hotspot message.
Did you "enable the wifi and hotspot at the same time" (or something like that) in the settings?

Hey yeah I have rearranged. I have a higher resolution set though though probably. I enabled developer settings and set the min-width to 700px. I'm not sure if that has an impact on it. Regarding voice search, do you have google assistant set as the voice assistant? Mine works well.

I tried it with Google assistant set and without, the ba-ding sound does come on and the little mic icon on the top corner also shows saying mic is being used. Permissions says allow when using for the core apps, but when I say anything it doesn’t pick up anything 😢
I’ll try rearranging again but if that doesn’t work might try flashing the firmware you’ve got on your link.
Forgot to say I have a Kia Soul EV 2016, so the screen is about as big as I can get it 😂 at least the other stuff works. I haven’t tried a phone call yet but the Skype testing service worked over a Bluetooth connection to my phone so the tbox does pass audio via Bluetooth, just not into the android environment selectively lol😂
There should be a new firmware if you check the FOTA upgrade app. The firmware at my link has been hit or miss for people due to different software variances.
Regarding google assistant, do you have a microphone button in hte car you can use to activate it?
Nice! regarding the screen size, I'm talking about the min-width setting (larger setting makes things smaller). It can adjust how things are displayed.
Hola Jeff, tengo un CPC200-TBox Plus y queria instalarlo en un Porsche Cayenne H-Hybrid 2024 pero no me funcion, sin embargo he probado con otro dongle generico y este si funciona, lo que pude visualizar es que cuando establece la conexion via Bluetooh con el dispositivo "Autokit Ambient" dice conectado pero no queda habilitada la opcion de Carplay . Hmm I'm not sure what the issue would be there. It uses the Carplay protocol to display on the screen. You don't have anything come up? Maybe try a new cable?

Does anything come up? I'm not sure how you'd update the firmware if you can't see anything. Did you purchase it from the company I recommend - autokitcarplay.com? If so, I'd email their support. They have been great for me and others.

@awensalphonse1428 yeah it's hotspot built in is decent. You'd just be limited by how fast the SIM data itself is.
Thanks Jeff for all the info! I just got my own device, but I'm having trouble getting android auto to work, the "tablet" works fine. What is the right way to share internet connection from a mobile phone? Is there a setting I have wrong?
Glad to help! Usually people enable the "mobile hotspot" on their cell phone and connect to that wifi on the Tbox Plus for internet. For Android Auto, if you have the new firmware I shared, you'd enable wifi and hotspot at the same time in the settings like showed in the video and then tap the "autokit" app and it should load into android auto.
@@TechnicallyJeff Thank you for your answer. Yes, I have followed your instructions, but it just doesn't work. When I have pressed the "autokit" button, a screen appears that reads "waiting". Any ideas where I'm doing wrong? Is there something wrong with the settings on the phone (galaxy s21)?

No problem! I found this worked for some people - "I went in to the Android app settings for Autokit and cleared cache settings. I also did the same for BT Phone. Deleted both the Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and CarPlay connections on my phone and started again"

I just updated my box to Android 13, but don't see the ability to turn on hotspot and wifi at same time. That option doesn't seem to show up in "other settings"
Are you on the very latest? Did you do a FOTA update?
@@TechnicallyJeff Just completed the FOTA update and option showed up. Ran into issue with quickstep starting and stopping, which caused a blinking screen. Any thoughts on that? in the meantime, i dl'd Nova and it at least works. Thanks for your help, by the way.

I'm not sure but they mention in the 2023.08.25 - 10.19 Upgrade Log that Hotspot and Wifi at the same time should be possible and also a fix for the vertical screen multitasking and split-screen rotation abnormality.

I'm also not sure what they mean with OTA in this version. Because it is mentioned in the name but not in the log. If OTA updates from this version on will be possible would be great.
Yes it is in that update, but only accessible from the advanced menu. With this OTA Jeff is talking about, it is integrated in the regular menu.

Hmm what vehicle are you using it with? Do you have the resolution at the highest setting in the Tbox Plus settings?

Hmm that's pretty high resolution. Try enabling developer settings by going to the software build number and tapping it a bunch of times. Then find the min-width setting and set it to 700 px.
is there a special technique to connect to Android Auto and keep the hotspot enabled on the android phone? i cannot get it to connect unless i turn off the hotspot on the phone.
also, has anybody been able to load and use peacock app on it?
I've used peacock. You may have to download the apk. For the hotspot, your logging will probably turn it off when you connect to wifi (Android Auto).

I actually tested mine yesterday and didn't have any issues with my S24 Ultra. It stayed connected to the hotspot while I connected to Android Auto.
Tried this morning and it bricked mine. Have the TBOX Plus 8-128. Purchased from your link. Not sure what to do....

@@TechnicallyJeff I do not know which firmware was on it before but I know it wasnt allowing me for hotspot and bluetooth at the same time. I have sent them an email, but like someone else commented, different time zone equals delayed responses lol.
I would revert back to old firmware but I cant even get it to turn on. No lights coming on the unit when plugged in.
Yeah some people have different firmware for some reason. Only 138 can upgrade.

Do you have the SC138 Tbox Plus or do you have the Tbox Ambient? I've heard a few people with the Ambient try it, but it's not compatible. You can reach out to Support@autokitcarplay.com and they should be able to help

It should, but I haven't tested it yet and haven't seen anyone use it yet.

My TBox Plus keeps crashing.That’s not reliable at all 🙄 5-6 reboots in less than 30mn.
When on the phone it’s just drops the call.
Also when using the car navigation it will take over when rebooting.
Not sure if it’s lacking power over USB …
I don’t have that many issues with the regular Carlinkit 5 adapter though.

No specific app is crashing. Just the full system reboots.

Any one managed to use Disney+ app and this type of split screen on the tbox ambient?
It should work like the Tbox Plus. You probably have to download the apk to install it.
