  • The downswing delivery position is one of the most important positions in the golf swing. If you get the delivery position right then impact and a good release are more than likely going to happen.
    When looking at the best golfers on the planet we see a very common delivery position. This position is where the clubhead is level to slightly behind the hands. This ensures the clubhead is trailing the body and helps you deliver the club with shaft lean to help you compress your golf shots.
    The drills and tips provided will help you hit the ball better than ever.

    Hi everyone, what’s your swing thought that helps you achieve a good delivery position? (We all feel movements differently)

    Excellent reminder Giles to stay "tension free" in the golf swing! I'm always working on relaxed wrists and supple forearms. I've just recently adopted the two arm forehand style of swinging. I liked your suggestion of the chest being ahead of the clubhead at impact with the right shoulder and clubhead meeting at the ball at the same time. Well Done Giles!

    Hi Giles, thank you as this is a great example to achieve a tension free swing shot that will enable golfers to drop some shots. Can’t wait to replicate this drill. Feel vs real. Love it. I must say that since subscribing to your channel my passion for golf has increased. Cheers.

    For me the swing thought is bowing the lead (left, I'm right-handed) wrist at the top of the backswing. But, I like your thought of "turning the steering wheel" clockwise so the trail hand (my right) rotates downward - which does the same thing, bow the lead wrist. I do like the alignment stick drill at the end, which I will definitely try.

    Could you please cover,
    1. Club face at address from the players’ POV. I struggle to keep it square while moving from club to club. They all look slightly different.
    2. How to open the hips before starting the downswing in the correct sequence. My hips are open at impact, buy only by a few degrees and not as much I would like to.
    Thanks in advance
    What’s the way to reach you? Skillis being the only option?

    Was working on this only today…got most of it nailed, but I do think any video discussing this motion has to also address the impact it has on the club face. Without any adjustment, this move opens the club face up and sends the ball right. Bending the wrist as shown in the video, doesn’t close the face.

    • @TheSailingChannel
      @TheSailingChannel Před 17 dny +1

      Make sure you are bowing the lead wrist, not cupping. You can either bow the left (leading wrist) or rotate the trailing (right wrist) 90 degrees downward towards the ground. Keeping that bow position drops the club (shallows it) during the downswing. If you maintain the bow and freeze at the ball you should see the club face squared.

    • @Gilesgillgolf
      @Gilesgillgolf  Před 15 dny

      Don’t have to bow the wrist. Multiple ways of squaring the face & I would say bowing the wrist is the hardest option

    Hey Giles - question - on your analogy of turning the steering wheel upon starting the down swing. For me, I notice when I do that (and I think you had a video on this) that it opens the club face a huge amount - requiring a much bigger need to sort of return the club face to neutral by impact. This is really hard to do especially in longer clubs. What am I (or us) doing wrong that when turning that steering wheel, we're really opening the club face, making it much more likely to have an open face at impact?
    Does that question make sense? I feel like I'm missing something there between doing that steering wheel movement but not laying the club off so much that the face becomes massively open.

    The concept is only hard in golf because of the 2nd hand on the club. 2 hands fighting over for dominant.
