- Prasat Preah Vihear is one of Cambodia's most famous temples situated on the border between Cambodia and Thailand. It's a UNESCO world heritage site. There has been serious dispute between Cambodia and Thailand about the ownership of the temple. The conflict has led to periodic outbreaks of violence. During our visit (August 2011) the situation was calm.
Beautiful Preah Vihear. Very majestic and more grand than I imagined. How can one claim something that never belonged to them? Just shows you the evil and greed of humanity.
Cambodian people are proud of their nation.Because of civil war happened in their country in 1975-1979 so they forced themselves sadly to escape and live in other countries around the world .however Cambodian people in Cambodia&other Country do love their CAMBODIA!!!

Thanks for this quite amazing and brave video. It is both haunting and beautiful and somehow sad that the narrative of the temple has come to this. The contrast between the Buddhist monks and the visitor making merit and the Cambodian soldiers is quite stark. Without any commentary, this video says so much about the personal in such a deeply complex situation.

This temple was built right in the center of Khmer Empire, as you can see both side of the border are Khmer blood, even at the moment the Siam control the area. I would like to say to all the Thai or Siam blood, you country are luck, that Khmer did not push the France to get the whole lot.

@Khmaiiboy I was there around the same time. Crazy riding up the side of the Mountain to get to the temple. It sad to see parts of the temple destroyed already from the thai's. I was there for the water festival too when all those people died on the bridge. I took video on my iPhone4 it was hectic

As a khmer i am proud of our army that is very strong to defeat
our enemy aggression in 2008-2011 preah vihear war. this signaled
the emerging of a new khmer nationa that is strong militarily
to defense our land. As a nation we have come a long way and there are
a long road ahead as a nation we still struggle we are not there yet in
term of social justices and political freemdom.
These problems are the norm for a third world countries and cambodia is
not a special case. we need time to mature politically it is a dellusion
to think cambodia can have a political system like the major western countries
if other leaders replace our current one.
We must understand that cambodia is a poor country we do not have
enough money to solve all the social problems about corruptions they will always
be there with us no matter who lead our country.
This is a transitional period for our country it is very dangerous period
for our survival as a race, we do need a strong leader to steady the ship we call cambodia.
peace throughout our country is paramount with peace our people have time to multiple and
multiply we must and we are now 16 millions strong and if peace keep hold for another
30 more years our population may reach 25-30 millions strong.
With population of 30 millions and a very strong unify national army we will be safe from
our traditional mortal enemies east and west.
Somdech Hun Sun during his watch our population have multiply because the peace that
he have provide and maintain, he build our national army to great strenght an army that
have defeated thai army with great ease.
we have come a long way from pol pot era that almost wipe out khmer race from the earth.
Somdech Hun Sun Era is very important in our khmer history he is mortal and his time will pass
the legacy he will leave behind for us khmers are profound the two most important are our
population and a strong unify army.
And other faults that he may have are nonconsequential. Our future generation will take over
and they will be strong and our traditional mortal enemies east and west can not harm them.
let give them a head start by keeping multiplying our population.
Let us khmers agree to disagree we don't have to hate each other to the point
of committing a second genocide we are smarter and have passed that already.
