I used to make wedding cakes for a living. Whoever made that cake should have told the wedding planner/bride/whomever that having a cake more than 2 tiers on center posts is never a good idea. A cake is never perfectly balanced in baking, one side will always be a bit denser or lighter, or whatever and cakes are not a Jenga game, they need a good support system.

Then I just shrugged and picked it up....my sister was laughing so hard at that. My wedding was super low key and low maintenance....nothing went wrong, funniest things that happened. We did the ceremony on the front porch. My dog was just staring us down in the window....my ,at this point, drunk, husband just stopped and giggled at the dog in the middle of the ceremony. Then during pictures my dog proceeded to poop in the yard. My awesome photographer got a nice picture of it. We have it in our wedding album. My nephew still thinks it was the funniest thing ever. I was 7 years old at my cousin’s wedding and she decided it would be great to make me the flower girl even though I was a walking disaster of a kid. In the middle of the ceremony, I tugged on the maid of honor’s dress to ask her when it would be over (loudly, I might add). She said not quite yet, so I proceeded to sit down on the grass in my expensive little dress and take my shoes off. I played with my shoes for the remainder of the ceremony, which unfortunately has been memorialized in all of her wedding photos. Can’t believe I did that, but it is now, many many years later, my cousin’s favorite moment from her wedding, so... Sometimes the terrible moments at the time turn out to be the best memories. At my wedding we had a symbolic candle lighting ceremony where we each lit our own candle then brought them together to light one big candle to represent our love coming together to form one flame. Both of us burned our fingers lighting the bigger candle and yelled out the F expletive. Our wedding was super laid back so we both thought it was funny and laughed at our matching burn marks on our index fingers. Turns out the symbolism of the burn actually meant something when he left me and our 6 month old not even 1 year in to our marriage. For people who can do maths out there, yes that means I was preggers at our wedding. Not the reason we had a wedding though. We had been engaged for 4 years at that point and together for 2 years before. Because of endo we had focused on baby first and went through IVF. That just made his leaving once the baby came an even bigger shock. But those candles knew

I actually love looking back at the little quirks of our wedding. We had a friend who was insanely sweet, but not the sharpest knife in the drawer. He thought our cake was fake (like maybe just a decoration until they brought out the real cake? 🤷🏼‍♀️). Anyway, he poked it with his finger before we’d even had dinner. 🤣 My mom had insisted we get a wedding planner and this planner’s freak out over it was way more stressful than a finger poke in a cake. I did not care. We were going to cut it up anyway. My husband and I still laugh about it today. Even at the time, we found it hilarious. There were lots of other little things, but who cares? Everyone had a great time! If it had gone perfect, I don’t think the memories would have been as interesting. 😆

Man this reminded me how much I hated my wedding lmaooo. STORY TIME, STRAP IN: At the time I was struggling to balance my thyroid so I already looked like the creature from the black lagoon because it fucks with your weight and your eyes. We got married in the Smokey mountains; it’s great for visiting...not so much getting married lol. There’s one saloon that does everything, like literally everything. The way she did my makeup, made me look more fish like. We were instructed to be there with clothes at EXACTLY 1pm. My mom had my dress; she insisted that she’d be there on time. She wasn’t and the directors yelled at me. I felt awful from the jump. This is how the rest went: the minister yelled at my best woman because she took a selfie, my sister...whom I didn’t want in the wedding because she’s never on time but my mom begged me...was the reason they were late, my aunt spilled nail polish remover all over my notes fixing HER nails, the director forcefully took my glasses so I couldn’t see anything walking down the aisle. I really wanted to see my wife’s reaction which was her bursting into tears :/. I am very sensitive to sounds since I’m an aspie. I cannot stand the pterodactyl cries of kids so I said no kids on the invitation. My cousin decided to bring her 2 small kids who screamed the entire time. The reception was worse; we paid for a wedding/reception combo which included 2 hours at a beautiful restaurant. That’s not enough time for a reception which we didn’t know lol. ALWAYS PUT YOUR MONEY INTO THE RECEPTION!! This is how it went: my mom hand sowed the bustle on my dress which I used...but I forgot to take it down for all of my pictures...the beautiful train was never used, we didn’t know that they were setting up for an immediate party right after ours...they set us up basically near the bathroom and waiter station so they kept interrupting while walking past, we never got to dance really at the reception so no first dance...I stayed up all night putting the CD together that never really got used, not to mention I had self taught myself a belly dance routine (I’m a dancer) for my wife that I never got to perform, they kicked us out after 2 hours so everyone in the wedding party panicked. My mom and the photographer chopped up our cake and shoved pieces into to go boxes, We had to move everything outside and I was freezing as it was November and I’m anemic, my cousin managed to make her way to the front of our group wedding photos so her kids are screaming in them. We made it back to our cabin which was our honeymoon suite....my wife fell asleep pretty much as soon as she got back since we had the worst day ever lmaoooo. I really want to do something else as a redo anniversary type thing but right now there’s no budget for that. Lol omg....thank goodness I love her lmaoooo

Your wedding director and cousin sound like assholes!! My cousin is asking the same for their wedding in the blue ridge mountains! We are booking sitters to stay with my son and my nephew, it's in October so I'll start in September, if we CAN'T find anyone and my boyfriend doesn't go, I'll stay at the Vacation rental with the kids before I'd ever impose and bring my child. I'll be there for all the festivities before and after the wedding, and I wouldn't even tell the couple I couldn't find a sitter, because I'm sure they'll be polite and say it's fine. I wouldn't do it and nobody ever should act otherwise. I hate when people put their needs before the needs of others. Hope you guys have a kick-ass "renewal of the vows" for an anniversary or something!! 🤞🤞💜💜
