Coulda refinanced the car for a lower payment a couple years ago which made the payments lower monthly, but extended the length of the loan. Just a theory.
I am not a mechanic but I know for a fact that modern cars with their "GDI" crap need to be maintained a lot differently than regular fuel-injection cars. My guess is Phil brought it in well past the "maintenance interval" and they are having to tear down the intakes to walnut blast out all the carbon that built up on the valves, especially if the thing never has time to warm up that's going to be an issue. So they either gave him a loaner, or Phil's spending $_$ for a rental car in the meantime. This is all speculation, but given his history with the BMW, none of this would surprise me.

Either something major is wrong with the snortmobile, he has an extended warranty, or he is an idiot for bringing a 7 year old corrolla to the dealership for service. Anyone can work on those easily for a way cheaper rate. All those little short trips his wife makes to and from work are no good for the engine.

Coulda refinanced the car for a lower payment a couple years ago which made the payments lower monthly, but extended the length of the loan. Just a theory.
I am not a mechanic but I know for a fact that modern cars with their "GDI" crap need to be maintained a lot differently than regular fuel-injection cars. My guess is Phil brought it in well past the "maintenance interval" and they are having to tear down the intakes to walnut blast out all the carbon that built up on the valves, especially if the thing never has time to warm up that's going to be an issue. So they either gave him a loaner, or Phil's spending $_$ for a rental car in the meantime. This is all speculation, but given his history with the BMW, none of this would surprise me.

Maybe a brand used car (used but new to him) but unless he leased it there's no way he bought a brand new one, but it makes too much sense for him lease because he rarely goes anywhere anyway so if he was given a set amount of miles per month he would get butthurt and think he was getting ripped off because he's paying for miles he can't use because he streams 6 days a week.
