As others have commented, the water tank really needs fixing properly. Either get it welded up or fit a new tank. If you've removed the bow thruster then maybe there's room for a stainless steel or plastic tank but that would cost more; better still, have the thruster tube removed to give greater room, but the boat would need to come out of the water to weld up the holes in the hull.
yes maybe a bladder, we tried re painting it last year, what a waste of money, would love to get rid of the bow thruster and put a lovely new stainless steel tank in there
The glorious hatch now glows in splendor. The kitchen re-do has reached a 10 out of 10.
You two work great together. We were so surprised to see Sopranaella mama duck come aboard. She's apart of the Crobot family now.
Until we see you guys again, take care, be well ~ Hugs Lacy, Mike & Hamish🤗💕🐾
Hi guys, so chuffed with Beccas work on the hatch, doesn't the floor look amazing now. Sopranaella always surprises us...we like to think its to see us when really its just because food comes first over any fear 😂😂Take care😊🥰😀
Maybe look into a flexible bladder to puy in the tank.
Maybe get some of the spray rubber to use from the inside of tank. Scrap the rust away and put something over the top of the hole.
Maybe drill a new overflow hole.
We would love to get a bladder put in, maybe its something we need to start looking into, drilling a new overflow could be an idea but I feel the tank may sit too low
@@TheNomadicCrobot i was gonna say the same. just plug the hole and put a plastic bladder inside . let's be honest it's not drinkable like that , at least with a bladder you could drink from it. and they are cheap .. 240l bag for £45 - £50
A job well done with the hatch, the kitchen is finally finished. Slowly getting there guys
slowly....but we are getting there, Thanks 😊🥰
Have you looked into fiberglass patch over the hole .and loving your content. Everything looks so nice. There is a paint used for pools you can maybe use to line the inside of the water tank
That would work ell, maybe a bladder??
Hi Chris and Bex. Well done for getting the hatch finished. The wax finish looks really great. Hope you get the water tank fixed. Some good ideas from other comments. Take care. Nick
Thanks Nick, everything on these boats seams to be an on going project, part of the fun I suppose😂 take care
Hello Becca, Chris. How nice to see the Babies come and visit you a couple of times. They are so cute.
Loving how your floor-hatch has turned out Becca. So nice to see you having a moment with it, which is very understandable after all the love and care you have given it. Chris did a great job polishing it.
The hatch and floor now look amazing.
Your water tank must be annoying for both of you. I’m sure Becca will work out a solution. Becca was so-on-point in explaining how the water tank and overflow should work. I believe everything Becca explains to us.
Good to see the Titan came out to play.
Chris your editing this week was excellent, as it always is. So much attention to detail, and it must have taken you ages to do, I even heard a snatch of Dramatic music (that’s my equivalent of a Becca’s Floor-Hatch moment!).
Loved every moment of this week's Vlog. Thank you for always delivering such high-quality Vlogs. Have a great week. Spoolbox
Thank you so much for watching and supporting us time and time again, it really means alot and makes it all worth while, The hatch and Kitchen have come out so amazing. We only finished the water tank a few years back so its frustrating that it looks like its not really going to be good enough, but I also feel we could probably sort that once were moving. Thank you and have a lovely week 😊🥰
Chris’s exceptional camera work makes me want to have a go at to buffing Bex’s immaculate hatch!
exactly 😂😂 thank you so much for the lovely and support ❤️
@@TheNomadicCrobot 😂
Great Vlog, Great kitchen floor!, you are getting there!
Thank you 😊🥰
You guys make me smile. You have done so much work on your boat.
we have spent a long time on this project, it will all be worth it fingers crossed
The kitchen floor looks really good, well done both of you. As for the water tank, well i wouldn't like to drink water from it! I would definitely go for a bladder to go inside it 👍
no I feel a bladder may be the way to go, thank you so much 😊
The floor looks gorgeous and that hatch is amazing! Well done guys and good luck with the water tank. And as usual - yr mad antics had me laughing and cheered the day up. Love you two loonies to the moon 😝😝🤗🤗🙌
Thank you Estelle, doesn't it look awesome, Bex has done it again, not quite sure what is going on In that water tank...to be continued like everything else haha Hope you have a lovely week
@@TheNomadicCrobot
Oh she’s a bloody marvel Bex is Chris that floor and hatch look like they’ve been fitted by a professional. I can’t wait to see yr boat all finished it’s going to be absolutely awesome. Have a lovely week. Big hugs 🤗
4 options - a flexible liner; fibreglass - small car kit one would do; cold weld; get some one in remove the tank, make all good and either new plastic tank or make a new stainless steel one; replacement means you end up with potable water on board.
unfortunately the tank is part of the boat so cant be removed, but we can put a bladder in it, it would be lovely to be able to drink fro it, thank you Sue
@@TheNomadicCrobot I'd be a little bit cautious about a bladder. Condensation forms on them like the dickens and will be trapped between the bladder and the steel.
Hi, Could you not just use an epoxy resin to bond a small sheet of metal either side of the hole. Its a bit of a bodge up but might work. Good luck.
we love a bodge here 😂😂😂 Thanks
Personally, I would cut out the old tank, as it is rusty anyway, and replace it with a plastic one.
Sounds hard but once all the rusty metal is gone, you will be surprised how easy it will be to plumb the new one in.
It’s had its day so bite the bullet.
Hire a plasma cutter and it will be done in no time. 🎉
id love to cut it out, but it seams like a really big job, its something we are thinking off though, thanks 😊🥰
Best Chanel on CZcams by a mile, well done guys, makes Mondays into best day of the week. 🦆🦆🦆
Bless you, Thank you so much for your lovely words 😊❤️🥰
The hatch looks marvelous. Good job!!! You two have the worse luck. I hope Papa Crobot can fix the water tank. Chris your relationship with Sopranaella….hope I spelled it right……is hysterical. I wonder if she will go cruising with you when you get everything done? 🦆 Fingers crossed all goes well this week. Whatever happened to the dark stained floor? Was that the kitchen or where the wood stove is?
😊🤗 Kathy
Thank you Kathy, Hasn't Bex done amazing, the floor looks mega posh. we do have an odd little relationship with sopranaella...I feel its probably very angled at food more than her love of seeing me 😂😂 the dark floor is in the living room, though we have taken it all back again and will be re coating it, have a lovely week 🥰
The hatch looks brilliant, just fantastic, great job guys. Now that hole. I must admit I wondered when I saw it with all that rust “how do you fix that” as you can’t weld onto rust, at least I don’t think you can. You can buy this stuff in a tube that Henri use to put on his tinny (boat) for holes and it was really strong BUT, this is your water and you want to drink it and shower with it, I don’t know if that stuff is poisonous. I look forward to the outcome of this. Another fun episode, thanks guys for the laughs, and stay safe. See you next week. 💕
Thank you Pauline, Bex has done so well with it, so nice to actually walk across it now. yes the tank has always had a big rust problem...maybe one of these bladder tanks is the best option if we want to ever drink from it. Thanks for watching time and time again😊❤️
@@TheNomadicCrobot . I’d never deliberately miss one of your videos. 💕
tank needs emptying for a proper look ,might be other areas rusting away, one way for a repair is to fibreglass the inside of the tank completely ,or make a bigger inspection hatch ,to loose the rust area
Thats so interesting thank you for your wise words
Bloody brilliant. U guys made my evening. Carry on Crobot. Love it. Hatch looks great btw. Best wishes 🎉
Thank you Trevor for all your support, it means alot 😊🥰
THE HATCH IS DONE! Applause! Crowd doing the wave! Blushing maidens fainting! IT'S DONE!!!
Thank you so much, so lovely to have the floor all finished off, so proud of Bex with her lovely hatch
@@TheNomadicCrobot That's a job well done.
Thank you 😊
Your floor looks so moooch better, and the hatch of course.
woawwww...so in love with Beccas hatch 🥰🥰 thank you
Incredible editing guys, I'm sure the camera added quite a few hours onto the job.
Thank you so much, what a lovely comment
Jb weld.Waterweld or marineweld underwater adhesive should sort that no problem 👍 5:29
Thank you,mum actually suggested this too
Hey Chris / Becca
The floor is incredible!!!!
Hey Chris haven't you come along ways with your DIY skills.
If you have not fixed the water tank hole there is a simple solution. Clean off the rust and apply some fiberglass cloth and fiberglass resin, rather like fixing a rusty car. Becca I think that this might be a job for you due to the patience required, sorry Chris. if you have any doubts as to the rest of the tank then do the entire thing in fiberglass cloth and resin. BE SURE THAT YOU CLEAN DOWN TO BARE METAL before applying the cloth and resin.

Thats so interesting Mark, im wondering if a new water tank bladder could be an option? My skills have come far actually...from someone that knew nothing....especially my roller nose skills 😂😂
Hi Chris,
The bladder will be much more expensive but will be a good overall solution if you can get one of the right size.
As for your "roller nose" skills, you will go down in history along with your "How To" buffing video lol. Then there is your "How To" domesticate a wild duck thing as well.
Supran Ella reminds me so much of the wild rabbits we had at Bears Backyard so adorable and trusting.
Thank you so much for the continued laughs,

There is quite a lot of rust on this boat. I think you said it had been too sea? I wonder if the salt water has made things a lot worse. The access is horrible but it could be welded up.
yes the boat had quite alot of rust issues, were on top of most of it and have treated most of to thankfully, the tank was always going to be a big problem
Wow well done you two, the floor looks really good. Sorry I can't offer any advice on the water tank as I'm thick as #uck. Look after each other and stay safe and I will see you both on the next one. 😃😃😃
Thank you for the support, another day another problem, thats what boat life is all about I suppose, maybe a bladder tank could work
That hatch is a work of art, true craftswomanship. My water tank is much worse than yours!!!!
Thank you 😊❤️🥰
Floor looks great. Cant believe overflow works off of pressure. Have you taken those fittings apart/off to see if its plugged.
Thats just a guess really, we should probably test that really haha
I think it's a breather tube not an overflow normally when filling the tank the water comes out of the filler hole when full.
You might actaully be right , thank you
Stick a bladder in it, you could glass fibre the hole but once rust starts it will keep going in a damp environment like that and you will have another hole and another patch 6 months later
yes id love to get a bladder, Thanks 😀
No worries Chris cheers for the reply
Clean the area and fiberglass it up.
great idea, thank you 😊
Wow i was absolutely amazed Chris allowed Bex to use Titan, im not sure if Bex has completed the mandatory 20 hour Titan induction course usage there of, Great work guys, as always putting a smile on us mere mortals faces lol
im normally quite strict with allowing Becca to use the Titan...he was also hibernating.😂😂 that made him extra angry 😂😂Thank you Graham
I think the best option you have to sort out the water tank is to not use the tank as a tank instead use the tank as a housing for something that is nonporous and won’t rust. Removing all of the rust applying some red oxide, and possibly some sort of rubberized lining paint to smooth it all out and protect it, and then put in some sort of plastic or flexible bladder tank. Having a water tank using just the structure of the boat is typically something that a ship or boat would use that has a water purification system. I can’t wait to see what you decide to use!
P.S. Great job on the floors!
Yes I think that could be a good idea, especially if were planning to drink from it, its been an on going problem from the start so the plan was to possibly use bottled water for drinking , thanks for watching
Thank you 😊
@@TheNomadicCrobot That whole tank top is just a rust waiting to crumble. I am not sure how you'd access the water tank to install a rigid plastic tank. Perhaps cutting & welding would be required? Filtration could also be added if you have a good pump to get the pressure needed for filtration. One added benefit of having the water not literally contained by the hull is that it will be a bit less chilly in winter & not take as much energy to heat. Another thing to consider is ballasting the boat so you get predictable handling and a stable wind/water line. Most boats with water storage in the bow sit low in the stern when the tank is low or empty. Lots to consider!
epoxy resin cut plastic a little bit bigger put underneath the hole and epoxy on top then get yourselves some Gorilla 84756 Waterproof Coat & Seal just to make sure or look for a bladder to go inside.
both great options Simon, Thank you for your ideas
That water tanks is amazing. You can see everything inside ….
What if you guys build a fiber glass box thing
That could be a really good idea, thank you 😊
Hello CroBots - That tank looks completely dead/naff or other rude words. Why not line it with polystyrene 1" sheet - Then go and buy a suitable sized/shaped WATER BAG from a Marine Chandler. The water would then be cool from the tap, insulated for winter. The bag collapses as it empty's So the water should stay drinkable. Periodically a dose of Milton (Chlorine) then empty it and refill it to wash the Milton out. If you leave an access to the bag you can take it out and clean it/inspect it easily. I used to have a bag on my yacht it worked perfectly and they last for years, if they are in a cushioned box as above. Another gem from an old salt. John
it really does, I would to get a bladder really, the tank is actually 1 part on the boat the previous owner was very vocal about, so we knew we would have to sort it at some stage, thats a great idea, it would be lovely to be able to drink from it, Thanks John
I think I would cut off the top of the tank, measure the space and see if there was a plastic tank could fit in the hole. otherwise as I have already cut of the top, just get a new top welded back in place.
I actually suggested just this to Bex, seams like quite a job but well worth it
@@TheNomadicCrobot It's always best to do the best job you can afford. As your going to places where it get harder to fix issues quick and easy.
Check to see if overflow is not plugged
thats a really good point
I approve the beer down the hatch too :) 😂
now were talking 😂😂
Absolutely love the floor good job
Thank you 😊❤️
Loved the duck visit
isn't she so cute ❤️❤️❤️
Did you seal the bottom side of the hatch? If not, it'll still absorb moisture from the bilges and swell up in the summer.
no we haven't actually I don't think , ill have to confirm with Bex
I’ve had no water on my boat since Feb due to the tank rusting up - would Becks be available to pop round sometime soon 🤔😂🦆💕
aww bless you, unfortunately Bex cant so your lumbered with me 😂😂
@@TheNomadicCrobot Will have to think about that one 😂😂😂😂🦆💕
your going too have to bite the bullit and get it welded or get a bag fitted inside the tank remember thats your drinking water you really really don't want rust in it ..i feel your pain we've spoken about rust before on a prevoius video's comments my boat is rusty also 😆😆
I think so, the Tank it pretty naff, we decided after painting it that we wouldn't ever drink from it, Rust seams to be an on going issue on these things 😂
LOOKS GREAT
Thank you 😊❤️😀
Your Warter tank can't you line it with fibreglass then that way it will seal all the holes
That could be a good idea, maybe a bladder tank if we could work out how to get it down there
Why don’t you drill a new overflow bellow the level of the hole, this way it will never overflow through the rotting top deck
thats a good idea, but they may be a tad to low near the water
Love that Ramones shirt 🤘
yayyyy we love the Ramones 🥰🥰
Hi guys. Would that overflow pipe also double up as an air admittance valve (for when you are draining down ie using the water) or is there a separate thing? Floor looking very good.
Thats interesting, we never thought of that, its all a bit of guess work really, maybe the next step will be to plug it, narrowboats are weird
@@TheNomadicCrobot If it's an overflow don't plug it. If it's a vent don't plug it. If it's neither, drill a hole for an overflow in the correct position. Nothing to do with pressure, it's about gravity. Greetings from Bali.
I reckon youre overthinking the complexity of a water tank! The water tank overflow cant work on pressure because the water hose going into it isnt sealed, its just pouring into an open pipe into the tank. Youve just got water leaking out of the big rustholes when the tank overflows because the overflow pipe is blocked maybe? Have you tried jabbing something flexible up the overflow pipe to clear it out from the inside or the outside? Good to see you finally got the hatch done, and nice work from the duck department!
quite possibly, were just guessing, yes maybe first port of call should be to see if its actually blocked, our overflow goes up through the top of the tank from a tube so wonder if it even is the overflow?? what an odd design
Floor looking very nice. Great idea calling in someone that deals with narrowboat tanks. Best wishes as always, D
That seams like the Best option I think, Thanks
Just thinking i'm sure you can you get water bags that would fit inside the rust old tank?
now that would be a cracking idea

I think so , thank you 😊🥰
Definitely try checking out a thick rubber flexible bladder that you can put inside the water tank. To save you having to cut off the whole tank lid and re welding a whole new lid in place. Hopefully you’ve finally found the pesky leak source that has been tormenting you both for so long 🤗ps: I would oil your beautiful new living room floor with the same oil, it will look amazing…. Especially after seeing how epic the kitchen floor looks 🤗
A bladder is something we always wanted, I think it may be the way to go at some point. yes the cutting off of the front seams like a big old job. yes the idea of the floor would be good too...a bit lighter ...its well worth considering , Thank you
I appreciate you want to do the job at the lowest cost but I would at least seek some guidance from a marine engineer to get their opinion of options available.
The rust really is too far gone and I’m sure chopping it out and welding back to good metal would be an option, then re coating the inside with a suitable drinking water safe sealant…….just putting a bladder in still gives you the problem of expansion so you would need to engineer the overflow from / out of the bladder…..
The tank appears to have many shapes and angles which makes it more difficult.
yes I thought the same, the whole top is pretty much rust, it needs a whole new plate really, maybe a larger job than first expected and something concentrate on after we get going, we were always going to rely on bottled drinking water anyway, Thanks for all you advice
Absolutely brilliant you are both doing a fantastic job considering all the shit you have put up with fair play to you both. And I love the humour 😅terrify.❤❤❤😅
Thank you for joining us again, will get there soon 😊🥰
You could try fibreglassing the hole.
thats good idea, would still to get rid of the rust though first I think??
Yes, the rust would have to go first, then paint it over to protect it again and then fibreglass it. It'll be cheaper than hiring a welder to do it, unless you can weld yourself that is. Phosphoric acid is great for rust removal according to the guy from Sailing Melody. I'd also try and put a bin of some sort underneath the hole if you can whilst working on it, to try and catch all the rust etc.
Good luck.
Tell you what, even though your purchase was a complete and utter mistake, the amount you have learned on the way, not to mention the footage that we all enjoy watching, has proved to be an invaluable goldmine. HowEEver...I fear the worst for that water tank hole cos its so badly rusted.....will need a lot o removing old plate to get back to the good stuff and re-plating and welding. Problem is that corner flange. Yes...FLANGE!
it has been one thing after another but were getting there, and were learning skills which was always one of the positives to take from it , yes the corner 'flange' is going to be a real problem, maybe a new bladder would solve the water tank problem? the story continues... Thanks 😊
Hi Guys 😊 Fantastic job on the kitchen floor and the Hatch😊

we dont drink from this tank, only bottled water
Thank you! Re-mantle. Its got to be a real word now! Not just Daveglish!
😂 thanks for watching 😊❤️
We know we have brown sludge in the bottom of our water tank and haven't dealt with it yet as we're leisure boaters. Just been on the nsbc boat maintenance course and they recommended once we'd cleaned it out and treated any rust to install a large plastic water bladder to hold the water rather than refilling the tank which we can never be certain won't have chemicals etc leach into it especially as we dot turn a tank of water over that often
May be something for you to consider
That's so interesting, thank you so much for your tips its well worth looking into, we also had some sludge in the bottom originally
That television aerial will never work in that position.....
well spotted haha
You're very trusting letting Chris get his hands on your hatch.... 😮
who knows what could happen 😂
Harry Belafonte had a song about all your leaks. He called out for Mathilda, to cover the leak with a straw.
Have you tried that method?
😂😂 love this method....we need to try that one day.... does it mean the whole boat will be a straw bail??

thats not a bad idea

yup....seams to be the way 😂😂

I wonder of the solution to the water tank would be to cut out the deck and lower in a made-to-measure stainless tank? Would that be cost prohibitive? If so, maybe a go fund me campaign could do the trick. A stainless tank would be effectively sealed and definitely spider-proof. After all, you wouldn't want to ingest spiderlings in your drinking water!
The hatch looks marvelous! The finished floor is really transforming the boat!
Thats exactly what I would like to do, it does seam like a big old job to take on but could be the best way, it would be lovely to have drinking water , Thank you so much 😊🥰

It's a sort of putty that you can get in different grades for different jobs. Be it mending porcelain or your hull. They sell it on Amazon but I don't know if it's ok in your water supply.
