    In this episode, Dom D’Agostino, one of the smartest people on all things related to ketones, digs deep into the research and application of these molecules. We discuss ketone esters, diesters and monoesters, racemic ketones, medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs), C8 (caprylic acid) on the exogenous ketone (EK) side of things. We also cover a lot of Dom’s fascinating work with hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT). Dom also discusses the strategy and tactics of the metabolic management of cancer, which includes, but is certainly not limited to, a ketogenic diet (KD). Cancer is covered throughout this episode, but if there’s one section to listen to, skip ahead to the 2-hour mark and listen to what Dom has to say about the Press-Pulse approach.

    We discuss:
    -Dom’s early medical training in hyperbaric chambers [7:00];
    -Effect of ketones on cancer cells [20:00];
    -Ketones and oxygen toxicity seizures [32:00];
    -HBOT & its many applications [40:00];
    -Ketones, MCTs, and exogenous ketones [59:15];
    -How ketones affect blood glucose [1:20:00];
    -Ketone esters, salts, enantiomers vs. racemic BOHB [1:38:00];
    -Dom’s ketone tolerance test [1:56:00];
    -The metabolic management of cancer using a Press-Pulse approach [1:59:45]; and
    -More.

    The first time it was difficult but after listening to a plethora of these talks by these guys, Rhonda Patrick, Tim Ferriss, Lew Cantley, Jed Fahey, It's starting to make sense and I started a biology course to help my future interest. Keep up this groundbreaking work and research guys as for sure between that collection of minds.......something goods gotta happen. Good Luck, Good Work & Goodnight. Thank you for your efforts.

    Wow! Great talk. I have recently started an Atkins/keto diet after a gtt showed 2 hr glucose of 141 and 4 hr glucose of 46; in addition to hyperlipidemia that occurred since the previous normal test 1 year prior. A few weeks after starting my diet I did the cardio IQ for IR and got total insulin of

I took my ketones on my other hand and still registered HI ... I stop my fast and drank some juice to bring my glucose up there was nothing on utube to say if ketones are high what you do to bring it down ... now I’m out of the extended fast my ketones level 5.8

    The reason Dom lost weight (while diving) was indeed higher metabolic rate which was a consequence of forming brown fat - due to cold waters- which is very energy demanding and takes glucose out of the blood. Listen to Susanna Soeberg, she’s done several podcasts lately, one with Dr. Andrew Huberman.
    It’s interesting to hear personal experience of someone confirming her results without knowing of her research 😁

    Another brilliant episode. I just wish someone had brought up the issue of apoB on keto. I assume this was recorded before the day of Dayspring. As an LMHR, I am mourning the loss of my wonderful keto diet, which I quit after seeing my apoB numbers double. Now I’m hoping that exogenous ketones can come to my rescue.

    I have a question about antioxidant use: I understand what you’re saying about normal conditions, but if one were either a smoker, drinker, eating the SAD diet, wouldn’t they be experiencing much higher levels of oxidative stress already, my tent then antioxidant supplementation be a good idea?

    What if you are a super fat adapted cancer patient. Your body snaps up ketones like a Crackhead at a Crack party, I would think you have to do exogenous ketone supplements to keep up with the demand during exercise before the liver kicks in with glucose. Would a ketone crackhead have to do it differently?
