This is a Daimler Fleetline with Park Royal Vehicles body, and from the sound of it, a Gardner 6XLB engine. Coded DMS by LT, (Double Deck Multi Door Standee Passengers)..The engines were manufactured in Patricroft, Manchester,-one man built one engine, and stamped his initials on the crank end. Not a good bus in London because of stop start traffic and disintegration of the trailing link coupling rubber doughnut, but very successful in other parts of the country, after Ensign of Purfleet, (dealer), modified them to single door.
Other DMS's had Leyland 0.680 engines with a conventional Hardy Spicer universal joint trailing link, (between the fluid flywheel and gearbox).
    Were they a bad bus?
