Whats to say the name THIEF is actually original name he gave at the beginning of the game? You cant accuse without evidence.

I'm surprised that he didn't show a trick called the roosterang. its where you throw the boomerang and grab the rooster, so that you don't catch the boomerang. then you can just hover over any monsters and the boomerang will kill them and grab any items.
Because that is actually not a glitch. It is a trick featured in the hint book (same as the bomb arrows).
Favorite glitch still has to be the map glitch in the original noncolor game. You stand at the edge of the screen and press select while you walk to the next screen, and you'll be at the next screen but at the same position as the last screen. It's a total game breaker.
Using that allows more glitches, like reaching the top floor of level 7 without breaking the pillars, or the secret room with stairs on the 3rd floor.

Congratulations. This wins the award for most black magic thing I've ever seen. I never looked into the glitches this game had. The best I knew was the screen warping one, which I couldn't do because I had the DX version, and stealing from the shop, which isn't a glitch.

You are required to clip through the block a little first. By going to the left of it, up a little and then to the right and stand in position.
This game had such an odd vibe. Played it so much in my childhood, and I never felt a greater sense of drama.
Versus the nightmare, the "arrow bomb" trick is a one shot deal too.

Remember loving doing amazing tricks with the feather and Pegasus boots, I even beated the 6th dungeon before the 5th one (or Something like that)
it's possible to get in and out of the 6th dungeon before you even go to the 4th one using a trick called jesus jumping

But yeah, you usually find glitches by accident. Though by understanding why and how they work in the game, you can think of new ways of doing them or find new glitches. You need a lot of outside-the-box thinking, patience and dedication =).

You have to be from another world! And I thought my glitch which enabled you to get beyond ANY barrier was impressive. My glitch was fun because it had you exploring all the possibilities that your mind could come up with!
@VenisRoxas The point is that you don't need to do the side quest at all. You are able to go directly to the egg and ignoring the ghost, which you can't if you get the ghost any earlier than the last dungeon.
The best glitch is using the dog house glitch to keep Bowow forever or if you are playing the original gameboy version use screen warping to keep him.

When I did the doghouse glitch, I got stuck in it, and somehow glitched out by dying, and got stuck behind the flowers at the swamp in front of the Bottle Grotto door (I was waaaaay past saving BowWow and had no hookshot) and somehow got past them by jumping at the side. From then on my game had glitches always.
Also, I've gotta say, you're real good at this game.
My favorite glitch is where you hit select as you're changing screens. Saves some time.

0:10 you can use the Dog-house Glitch to get the key early. If u are confused, I can show u
I am well aware. This is a very outdated video and there have been lots and lots of new discoveries since. The dog house one was however old at this time, too.
I've done the diagonal jumps and done some Pegasus Boots Jumps too. This games so freakin' fun.

@2cooliobeans You get it by finishing the trading quest, go to the beach and trade your Shovel for the Boomerang in a cave.

In the first version of the game, the one with the map select button glitch, try using it in the screen just below the entrance to Bottle Grotto. When you appear above the entrance, enter by pressing down. It’s a trip.
I found some of these, not all of them however. Mostly it is just by playing the game normally, coming up with ideas of doing things.
Other times it is because I went on a glitch hunt in the game to find useful things for speedruns. I found the Rooster skip (4:44) because I had previously found a way to skip the Power Bracelets lvl 2, so I also needed to skip the Rooster. I just got this idea to jump out and use the hookshot, spammed the button and managed to jump again on my first try.
The slime key trick isn't working on switch. I tried for an hour last night

The non-DX WRs are also nice and shows a lot neat things the DX run does not. You can watch those runs through this Twitch channel: twitch. tv/exosda.

you missed the first dungeon where if you jump when the first boss makes you go underground and you jump up when ur falling you are able to go through the walls to any dungeon
I didn't miss anything. There are hundreds of tricks and glitches that weren't included. This was just something I did for fun to show off "some tricks and glitches". Also only focusing on things that are useful for speedrunning.
A lot of things have also been found since this was made, which obsoletes a lot of the tricks seen in this video.

Hi! Long after I made this video, I discovered that that glitch is indeed version specific. It can't be done in any other version than 1.0 for the DX version.
For EU versions, they are all 1.1 or later (Though it probably says 1.0 on the cart, yeah). There are some other changes to that version, such as the Genie glitch I have in another video. You can also skip most text with the B button as in the Black & White version.
But for 4:59 and 6:33, they won't work on any EU version.

International censoring. There's a lot of it in gaming. In the original Japanese version, it's the bikini top

German version too then, apparently, which is hilarious because it's usually German games which are censored, but not this time.
Still not as bad as Wario Land 2. In Japan the enemies throw beer at Wario, making him drunk.
In America, it's a black ball or something.

This video is very outdated, and I didn't even show everything known at the time. There are so many more glitches around, both small and major =)
How DARE they nerf the Link's Awakening Boomerang in the reremake!
If you use the screen swooping glitch its much easier to get through the dungeons.
Yes, I know. It does not work on DX however, and I thought it was a too common and boring glitch to include here anyway.

What about the trick where you can go across the screen by pressing "select+start+A+B" as you enter another screen of the game
You only need to press Select to do it. It does not work on the DX version, I also find it to be too common and uninteresting to include in this video.
There are also loads and loads more of these in the game, this was just a sample I did when I was bored one day.

The thing at 00:45 happened to me. I was like ''Link, wtf did you do!?''
Once I accidentally did the glitch where you fall out of the hole made place on the 3DS vc version and I freaked out

5:40 found this out by myself (the potion trick)
I actually pulled off the Angler's Tunnel glitch myself before hearing about it. It was out of necessity because my game crashed when I encountered Marin on the beach. As a result, I navigated the glitch world to enter the Angler's Tunnel; however, since I was in the second half of the dungeon, I had to jump over the pits diagonally to backtrack to the start.
Once I don't know how, I fell through a hole in the mysterious forest and ended up in a different part of the world. Like an underground area that had caves near the water area. I didn't have all the necessary gear at the time so I was trapped there. So weird, I still don't know how it happened.

That has a lot of different results you can get as well and there are many places in the game where you can get similar Glitch Worlds. Other than that, no idea what could have happened to you.

I heard there's a glitch or a cheat that allows Marin to stay with Link for the rest of the game.
Requires the non DX version and it's call screen warping. I won't bother explaining how as there's likely videos of it all over youtube.

+Jeremy “Exas” Stradling There are hundreds and hundreds of glitches in the game. You can't include them all. These are just some, as mentioned in the description, that are helpful for speedrunning purposes. This video is very outdated anyway and some tricks are long obsolete.
Tompa A well as you said with speedrunning. It'd be useful for a 100% speedrun. I know how to do the glitch I'd just like so see some other people give it some attention. Mainly because I love glitching out games. But it doesn't really matter much I guess
At 1:17, I am trying this over and over and just can't make it to the object in time. What am I doing wrong? Is it a trial and error thing or is there something I am missing? What's the technique?
You'll need the Piece of Power to make it work properly. I mention that it is doable without, but it is very precise this way.
Tompa A I had a PoP and just wasn't able to make it over there before it goes off the first time. Through some determination though, I was able to make it through the first wave of it's repelling without getting pushed too far back and still managed to get to it. Thanks for the speedy reply, bud. when i was a kid i couldn't find the flying rooster becouse i didn't know how to read english. I remember that i had dug the entiare map in search of enything. Now i am 21 and i finally finished the game!
How? This is something I have attempted long ago but I have had nothing happened to me without killing one of them first. So if you can please show me this, I would be happy.
So I'm learning how to speed run this game but I can't figure out how to do the glitch where you push blocks another direction as you did at 6 minutes in. I've been at it for about 3 hours or so but I can't get the fucker to move the right way... if your're still there, any advice that can help me or am I just bad at positioning myself?

Your problem is probably that you don't clip into the blocks first before you do it. For the above picture on that page, you have to walk to the left of the blocks, go up a little bit and then walk right into them. This way Link will be a few pixels into the block. Then you should be able to get it.

Tomislav Dragić Those inputs are the correct ones no matter if you play on console or emulator with a rom. Though if you use your keyboard, it may be because you are unable too press too many keys at once.

Sure, google for VisualBoyAdvance, that's a GameBoy Advance emulator.
And for the game: google for Link's Awakening Rom
Like what imbaGoblin said, Visual Boy Advance is the best GBA emulator for PC, as for roms however, use Emuparadise. Not only do they have roms, but they also have emulators and guides available. You can even play said games online.

Have you tested to see if these also work in the 3DS VC version?
The 3DS version should be the same as the latest released version on Game Boy. All of these should therefore work, yes. But I haven't tried any of them myself.

All of these do, yeah. This video is also extreeemely outdated. There are a crazy amount of more glitches in this game in this game.

I probably won't try any of these myself. I just love watching videos. But this is my favorite Zelda game by far. I still have my original gameboy and the Zelda cartridge that it came with.

The way it says in the terrible annotations: Face up and press down+left at the same time. An easier way to do it is to hold your sword out, as it helps with the backwards walking.
