What does and does not change after Ganon [contains endboss spoilers and parts of the credits]

  • Additional notes:
    * Nago is a giant boar appearing in the movie Princess Mononoke, which has a LOT of interesting parallels to BotW. If you haven't seen it already, I strongly recommend it - but don't watch it with small children, as some of the scenes are a bit too gory for younger audiences.
    * An in-depth guide for the enemy/weapon scaling mechanic can be found here: / about_difficulty_scali...
    * The "Defeat Ganon" un-completing itself is the only thing that slightly annoys me. They wouldn't even have had to change the quest text or any dialogue - just the checkmark staying "completed" would have been enough. As it is now, you'll always have that annoying "X out of Y quests completed" even if you do everything else.
    * Two additional pictures unlocking in the Hateno Tech Lab are weapons instead of enemies: The Master Sword and Bow of Light respectively. I guess Nintendo didn't want to spoil what those look like, in case someone buys the full compendium before finishing the story. The same goes for the bosses not being revealed too early.
    * Blights fought inside the Sanctum are even harder than inside the Divine Beasts, as each of them gets a full 2k HP instead of the convenient health point scaling. Source: / psa_blight_hps_scale_d...
    * Kilton's "quest" is a bit confusing. It does not appear in the quest log despite being something that you can call a long-term goal instead of a quick fetch quest. And the "DEFEATED" star only shows up if you have killed the miniboss in question AND talked to Kilton about this specific enemy type. During this video I beat Ganon, talked to Kilton only about Moldugas and assumed this unlocked the markers for the other two as well, but none of the Taluses and Hinoxes gained that "DEFEATED" star until I talked to Kilton again and picked their dialogue options as well. (The markers then showed up retroactively, no need to defeat those foes again. It's just a bit confusing if they're not there if you expect them).
    * On a related note, the minibosses encountered inside the Trial of the Sword do NOT count towards this. The only minibosses you'll need are the ones that appear in Hyrule's overworld, as well as the castle and Eventide Island because while those may be "special" locations, they're still part of the overworld. TotS however is an "illusory realm" - everything in there basically only happens inside Link's head.

      Well that'd be kind of weird since Ganon would still be around, just offing him wouldn't work either since canonically, most, if not all, of the monsters and malice are tied to Ganon, there'd be nothing left to do except maybe the shrines and some npc interactions since the monsters and malice would go down with him (even in the sequel I imagine it'll be something like the monsters start off gone until whatever causes them to investigate the underground happens.) 🤔

      Zelda II: The Adventure of Link had a new game+ version where you start over but exp and spells carry over.
      Wind Waker unlocks a new quest but the changes are mostly cosmetic. Link stays in his original clothes. Cutscenes with ancient Hylian are translated. Figurines in the gallery carry over.
      Skyward Sword unlocks its harder Hero Mode. There are no recovery hearts so you must rely on potions, fairies, and places you can sit down. Enemies have higher health and hit harder. You do keep the fast charging Skyward Strikes.

If you raid the castle and kill ten of each, you're already at 1k points. Red Lynels are also worth 50 XP each, and the stronger ones even more. Obviously, the quest was so hyped to the point that I thought it would be an extremely difficult task with a massive reward at the end. So, I enter the Castle literally shaking as I am terrified of the final boss and blah blah get through to the final ganon stage. I defeat him and enter the cutscene, by god that was such a good cutscene. I would have expected Zelda to come back and make her interactive within game. When the credits role and I found I am back at the entrance to the castle I was actually bewildered. I thought that the game didn't save so I defeated ganon AGAIN only to find out that there is no reward at the end. Clearly, Nintendo has a knack for trolling players and making them do daunting tasks for no rewards - as you can see with 900 korok seeds giving you a golden poo. i wasn't that greedy and wanted to see a post-game, but i do want to see different cutscenes when you defeat ganon, depending on the level of completion of something, for example, how many memories fragment did you reclaim

      @Nat_the_Chicken Před rokem +5

    It makes sense for the game state to revert to not defeating Ganon, but they could have let the "Defeat Ganon" quest stay completed. I wonder if they only reverted it so you could use its map marker again. It also would have been nice if they let you keep the Bow of Light. Without it there's no reason for the missing inventory slot. Even if they were worried about it being overpowered (which wouldn't be a big deal since it's postgame!), they could have just given it durability/cooldown like the Master Sword

    the first two sentences was a direct attack, that's literally what happened with my own playthrough. i played on and off with varying levels of interest and intrigue and then decided i was too lazy to max out all my clothes (which was my original reason for not fighting ganon) after 5 years and went on to finally finish the game. i was disappointed with how little changed only because i wanted to see people free from worry in hyrule, but i'm not entirely upset about it really
