Sinaloa cartel hands over surfer murder suspects: Report | NewsNation Prime

- The arrests of suspects in the killings of three surfers in Mexico last month reportedly happened with help from an unusual source: the Sinaloa drug cartel. According to The Daily Beast, the people who tried to rob the surfers but ended up killing them were not part of the cartel, but low-level robbers acting alone. NewsNation’s Jorge Ventura says the cartel handed over the suspects to avoid unwanted attention.

That's not a victory for law enforcement. It's just the cartel saying they didn't want the bad publicity & hope to get back to business as usual. It's basic business strategy
Exactly. Don’t p off America, cuz they r making billions off border shuttles.
Finally someone who knows what’s boomin
No shit shirlock
That's what a nation state that wanted to continue good trade relations would've done too if a tourist was murdered on their land, regardless of how bad it is for citizens there.

Shhhh we don't talk about it.. 😊
Thats the conclusion they want you to have, the the DEA is definately involved
We already know who runs every criminal level, including the mid-level bureaucrats and elected officials. No matter how incorruptible the higher level may be
It's that way since the Clinton days
If you were going to steal a truck, what is the point of murdering people and then burning the truck? Something does not make sense here.
Right
i think the guys were trying to buy and the lone wolves took their money and killed them and the Cartel didn't want US heat
Terrible, but they wanted the tires, and the men resisted. How little life is regarded by some people.
They probably fought back. Should haven just let them take the car lke they do in the U.S
They wanted the tires.
Such a nice humanitarian gesture from the cartel, helping out the authorities.
what a organization!

If people knew anything about the cartel they would know people in Mexico actually love them because they help the people. The only time they kill is when it’s a rival or they get crossed and it’s All part of the business. They dont participate in random burglaries or killings despite what most people believe
@@ImAyBeastyou’re so wrong I’m Mexican and I have family in Mexico who have been robbed by cartel members stole family truck and took all their money on them so yep they might not kill just to kill, but they will rob you if they get the chance they aren’t innocent bro their is plenty of videos out there too of them robbing innocent hard working citizens.

We went to Mexico a few months ago. I asked one of our tour guides if the area we were in was controlled by the cartel. Asking if I wanted the honest answer he said it was, stating that the cartel in that area makes such a large portion of their income from tourism that tourist are often considered protected or off limits because they have to protect their income stream. If things start happening to tourist and people stop coming they stop making money.
they probably reinvest some amount of their money in legal businesses
They are more reasonable than Mexican politicians
This is like buying a broken car, and afterwards asking if you should have taken it to a mechanic first. It's too late.
This is the same for many countries
The cartels own everything including major tourist related businesses. It's just one of many things they have their hands in.
And yes, they don't like their money getting messed up and they don't like killing Americans and giving our government a reason to send forces into Mexico. They fear someone like Trump who might be willing to use American forces to actually wage a war on the cartels.
They don't want to give America a reason or risk a public backlash from Americans demanding it.
Dude is arrested in another country and they still blurring out a criminals face.
I am an American who have lived in Mexico for over 5 years, the rule of thumb is , never travel to remote areas of Mexico that you don't know, this is a major no no. It is best to stick to tourist areas in major cities throughout Mexico.
Also, folks need to leave their American attitudes in America. Remember, though we share a border with Mexico, you are in a foreign country that play by a completely different set of rules and customs.
Remember, bad things happen in Mexico but equally in the United States, no one is immune from crime and misfortune, always keep your wits about you and travel only during the day with people you know.
This is a terrible situation but hopefully a major learning opportunity.
How’s tijauna ? Staying downtown. Solo
Easy for you james bond...
Anyone else think they just handed over random scapegoats?
They probably turned in politicians that are against the cartel. Great way to get rid of your enemies.
My exact thoughts
Possibly
Probably offered the scapegoat(s) a lot of money to take care of their families while they’re in prison, and to provide protection for them while in prison. Once the dust settles, they’ll probably be set free. It’s all just publicity, or at least it appears to be
Yep
Guess the cartel decided to take a break from helping old ladies across the street and going to church to catch this guy.
LOL Good one!
Nope. They just know when something is both bad for business, and also recognize a way to hold power over those who PROBABLY decided to make moves that they had no authority to make. In other words, whoever snuffed out the surfers did NOT get permission. Huge mistake.
Why would anyone believe that is the right suspect? It’s probably some sacrificial lamb
You saying that's what the cops do? Lmao
@@AntoineWilliams7118dude they have a history of this. When that brother and sister were mistakenly kidnapped last year, the gulf cartel handed over like 5 members since they fcked up.
It's far from shocking. The Cartels wanted the guy gone as he had caused unwanted attention by committing an unsanctioned (by the cartel) crime. I can imagine their "interviews" with the girlfriend and the suspect was intense. The Cartels run Mexico. The cops could never have pulled that off without the ruling party.
Cartel should just start a political party and run Mexico as a single party state. At least it would be honest image of what it is.

The good ol "winning hearts and minds" strategy
Most of the cartels have a "don't kill Americans" rule to avoid a direct conflict with the US and the DEA. A few years ago, cartel members kidnapped and killed 4 Americans. The Jalisco New Generation Cartel figured out which members did it and then turned them in with a note basically saying "These guys killed the Americans, we're sorry"

I traveled in Sinaloa cartel country in and around Culiacan years ago. Once the local kids scouted me out, found out who I was, and told me where not to go, I was not bothered. The cartel does not want to mess with American tourists. These killers went against that rule.
I was thinking the same thing so they may have some sort of honor amongst them.
That's why they turn them in !
Generally speaking they dont, but if they do its also no big deal.
I'm from Sinaloa and kidnappings for Ransom comes with a death sentence
These killers were random meth head robbers, they do not work for “the cartel.” Believe it or not, not all crime in Mexico is cartel. There are still rouge actors out to do shady stuff to the unsuspecting, just like in the U.S. All crime is not organized.
It was an unsanctioned murder. Only Sinaloa can authorize killings in that area. It's a PR thing. Like when Hell's Angels did toy drives for kids.
