I remember listening to the John peel show and he was talking about the fighting between the Aberdeen fans and the Motherwell fans because he was at the game and was astonished at the fighting

McGhee gets a lot of stick because of his time as Manager of Aberdeen and fair enough he didn't do great there, huge defeats in Europe and the 9.0 off Celtic so he deservedly got the sack, but he was a top player and a very successful manager in the 90s and early 00s. He scored goals everywhere, he done well at Morton, had 2 spells at Newcastle, even played in the Bundesliga with Hamburg but at Aberdeen he was part of their most successful ever team winning titles, 3 cups in a row and 2 European trophies as well as winning titles with Celtic.
His managerial career was impressive too, especially early on down south and his teams played very good football, he won promotion with Reading, Millwall and Brighton as well as taking Wolves from near bottom of the league to 3rd and Motherwell from the relegation zone to European football. He maybe didn't do the best at Aberdeen as Manager and was laughed at after his time at Dundee, but he deserves a lot of respect, and this is from a Rangers fan.
