Funny, just got the extreme mp after loving the old extreme tour for some time....been a great switch. Glad you like it too, keep up the great vids 👍
I tried an new Setup in my pure aero. Strings Dunlop explosive speed ( black).I strung it 24/23,5 kg. Leathergrip. Little lead at 3/9/12. Very good confidence in my one handed backhand.
Loved this video. Head and Babolat feelings are two opposite worlds. For me personaly I always pick Babolat. Aero VS is my racket of choice but I also love the Pure Drive and I cant wait to test this new Pure Aero. Never been a Head guy, though the extreme MP specifically feels nice in my hands
Thanks Daniel!
Just got an Ezone Tour to do some long time testing.
The perfect racquet needs to play to your strength, to the date I tried to mitigate my weakness instead (backhand, one handed), which now feels wrong.
The Ezone gives me unlimited potential, I can break the sound barrier and still keep the ball inside due to generous control and spin both at the same time.
Can't wait to get my hands on a regna, but Yonex does not sell to Europe.
The Regna would be so cool. AC Tennis did a video on one and he really intrigued me. I think you made the right move to go for a racquet that compliments your strengths. I do the same.
I was using a Head racquet and switched to the Pure drive for a short time. Had a chance to use a friends Pure Aero and fell in love. I can't image playing with any other racquet now.
Beckett, help! I'm currently playing with an Aero Pro Drive 2013. Do you think that Pure Aero 2023 would be a good improvement? I noticed that swingweight in PA2023 is higher than in APD2013. Thanks a lot!
Hi Beckett,
I'm a mostly baseline but increasingly allcourt OHBH 4.0-4.5 player. Played with a Pure strike gen2 100 for 5 years with no arm issues using Technifibre Black code 4s 17, and it was a spin monster but still with good feel and reasonable control. Until a few months ago I restrung it too tight and I got tennis elbow. It was always a fight to stabilise that frame and always felt it was too slow for volleys once weighted to stabilise, so switched to a slightly weighted ET 360+ based on one of your videos. Love the manoeuvrability of the ET, and can play for hours with no pain, but sometimes I feel like it's a bit weak for OHBH. It came with Head Lynx, and now needs a restring. Before adding more weight, I'm going to put Black Code 4S which is stiffer than Head Lynx on it but not sure whether to string tighter at 53lbs or go softer at 48lbs. I want to keep the control of the ET but add a bit more spin potential and hopefully stability. Also concerned if Black Code being square will increase launch angle and reduce control. What tension would you recommend?
I actually have never tried Blackcode 4S so I'm not sure how that will pan out. I do like the idea of using you "go to" string in a new racquet because I think it helps to control the variables, giving you an opportunity to get to know your new stick. When switching strings, I really only expect the strings to adjust the launch angle and the contact feel. In my ET, I prefer a mild shape. Even Lynx Tour is a bit more shaped than I prefer. My goal is always to find a string setup that encourages me to use as much force as possible in every shot, which is why I've start moving away from more shaped strings.
Sorry for that vague answer.
That answer actually does help, thanks. I'm quite used to the ET already, just after just a little more bite on FH and stability on OHBH (head swing weight issue I think). I guess it's still worth a punt to see if BC4S works and keeps control but I suspect I agree with you it might be too much. A plain 18 gauge could be a better bet based on what you say (any suggestions?)
Also are the auxetic variants a major improvement for OHBH? I like the finesse of the Tour but might have to try the MP.
Hey Beckett/Tencomm team, just watched your video on the Grapplesnake Tour M8, and it answers so many questions ! Gives me confidence also coz you tried them all in the ET. Great content you guys are putting out, you gained a fan!. Especially love the subjective scale graphs :-). Some great ideas to try. I also tested the pure aero and whilst I played well with it, also agree your end conclusion, and the Heads just make you feel so much more connected. now convinced I must playtest the new Auxetic Extremes.... Ta!
Go for a navy blue shirt with the embroidered logo. The blue and pink combo would be 🔥
Great video, certainly one I've been waiting for as I am considering both the Aero and the Extreme MP, as well as the Speed MP. I pick-up a 2023 Pure Aero as a demo and after playing with it for 2 weeks I loved how much confidence I gained with my forehand. I really felt like I couldn't miss a shot. BUT my one-handed backhand felt very unstable and I haven't been able to figure it out. Next week I'll pick up an Extreme MP to demo to compare. My current racquet is a 2012 Blade 98. Any advice is highly appreciated
Have you tried the EZONE 100? Probably the best stability of the 100s I’ve tried lately but great directional as well.
I ordered the head extreme pro Auxetic.
It is available in italy only. I also own the MP and the new Aero. The feeling is absolutely different. In my opinion,I get more spin with the Extreme. Super flat long line forehand shots with the Aero. I have to spent more time with them. The Extreme feeling is special (nice). I put a leather grip on both and lead.
do you feel like the Pro offers you anything special compared to the MP? Or do you think a weighted up MP would play the same as the Pro?
@@TennCom actually the pro is on the way. I guess it is just more weight. The cpi might be different. I weighted up the MP, thats right. I will tell you after stringing and trying. Luckely I didnt pay more for the pro, than the MP. So it is just a nerd thing. 🙋🏼♂️
@@klauswinzig4997 So what is your opinion about Auxetic Extreme MP vs Pro ? Im very curious since Auxetic Pros are not available where I live.
@@hkim6876 unfortunately I had to sold, after to surgerys. Sorry, I cannot help you.
Bro I am also using head extreme pro 2020 and I am planning to switch either to the new 2022 MP or yonex EZONE . I hit long and deep with spin (near the baseline). Any suggestions. THANKS
We didn't get the old Extreme Pro in Canada, so I haven't tried it. I've talked with a few other users on the Tennis Warehouse forums and a lot of them seem pretty happy with the new Extreme MP and some lead tape added. Its stability isn't as good as the EZONE 100, but it swing much faster so you can hit big power and spin a little bit easier
A bit late on this vid but it helped my decision on getting the pure aero and keep up the good work
happy to be of service! glad you found your stick
Great video. One thing I wonder though. It is not often mentioned the type of strings and how many kg/lbs? I would think that the racket would feel very different if the recommended is on the lowest or hardest.
We had tested both of these racquets with a variety of string setups. We always start with our baseline of Grapplesnake Tour Sniper at 52lbs as it's a very neutral string that doesn't dominate the feel of the racquet. We also tested RPM Power, Signum Pro Polyplasma, Lynx Tour and I think a few others that I can't remember since its been a while. Neither of us found either of these racquets to be especially string sensitive.
How do you fell about the whiteout 290. I like to play every night and want something to step up my game a little bit. Any recommendations as well?
I haven’t tried the Whiteout yet. I just got a Whiteout XTD today so hopefully I’ll have some more insight in the coming weeks
Hello TennCom, i love your videos buat i want to ask about 100sq and 98dq. Should i switch to aero 100sq or maybe wait for the 98sq version?
I think just wait. It should only be one month before they are released!
Hi, how do you compare the Extreme MP to the new ultra 100 v4?
havent tried the Ultra yet!
Around three and nine o'clock I put a total of about 10 grams on my tennis racket and everything improved. The serve and volley all became more stable. Now I can not only hit spins with it, but also flatter straight shots. It is also an excellent racket for one handed backhands. I have tried a lot of racquets , this is Head extreme MP so it can do everything fine and rock hard. I suggest you make a review with this 10 grams plus, it will be worth it. (It was recommended for the Head extreme tour in the past, that's why I tried it here too.)
What weight and balance did you end up with?
@@voxshall The weight is 335 gr and the balance is approx. 345 mm. ( with 2 grip, head lynx tour string and head pro dampener)
Not sure if there should be a ‘lag’ when returning serve. Backswing is usually shorter, especially if the serve is fast.
Of course the backswing is shorter, but there is some degree of racquet lag in any modern forehand topspin stroke.
I agreed, the backswing on my backhand , must be shorter ( one handed).otherwise it goes behind the line.
please share why Yonex ezone 100 is not your racquet of choice? I play with aero VS currently and like it, but I want something less demanding in my bag for the next clay season as a backup.
I have the same issue with the EZONE 100 that I have with the Pure Aero. I can't develop the racquet lag due to the weight distribution of the frame. I think I'll do a video that specifically explains the problem that I have with high twistweights because its hard to write in words but i can explain using slo mo video.
@@TennCom that actually is fascinating.. as I am struggling with a similar issue .. .I want a racquet that is pure aero VS on the forehand and SW102 on the backhand :) which is probably impossible but is there at least something that is good enough for a wristy forehand and hit-through backhand. I hoped EZ100 would be it.
What 100 inch racket would you recommend for someone with flatter shots but who needs a lot more power than a prostaff? I’m thinking of head speed pro but I’m not sure
I love the EZONE 100 for flatter shots with lots of forgiveness.
Thanks! I’m trying out the Ezone 98 soon, I’ll give the 100 a try as well. Cheers!
what Pure Aero are you using in this video? theres alot of different Pure Aero's
100" 98 " what weight?
This was the base Pure Aero, 100sqin 300g. At the time of release, the 98 wasn't out, nor were the lighter weights in the 100 line.
Thx for a great review!
Becket: Will you be customizing the Extreme MP?
Best regards from Denmark
Yes I’m still dialing in a set up and I’ll do a vid on it soon
@@TennCom Great and THX!!
I've watched the out call at 2:13 a bunch of times, and I swear that ball on the baseline was in.
Hahaha yeah, during editing, Simon said, “I think I might have hooked you here.” We zoomed in and went frame by frame and there wasn’t anything conclusive.
The auxetic tour is not on debate? Great content man!
Thanks man! I didn’t find it to be that much more forgiving off centre yet I also found predictability was decreased. It’s a step closer to what I’m looking for, but I’m just looking for a little bit more.
I played a match this weekend with a guy who was using the TiS6 frame. He is in his mid-sixties ,4.0-4.5 singles player. I’m a 74 year old 3.8-4.0 singles player. I use the Head Auxetic Speed pro, strung with a gut/ rpm blast hybrid. He strung his racquet with Hyper G 17 at 58lbs. He won. He produced lots of pace and attacked my backhand. I was not happy with my one-hander: not a lot of racket head speed, no pace ( maybe because i’m trying to adjust my BH grip a bit) Anyway, I played a few games with his TiS6:Holy Crap, I was ripping the ball all over the place, especially my backhand. He challenged me to suck up my pride and give the TiS6 a shot. I think I will!😀Ciao, John
I am going to do a video trying to setup one of those types of racquets to see if I can make it viable for matches.
That's funny, my dad uses the s6 which we call the snowshoe. He's 64. I'm a 4.0 and he often beats me. I've used it before and felt like I had to play like a grandma with a slow swing speed, but I recently tried his backup which had a tighter poly setup and I was hitting amazing passing shots down the line and great serves. I was annoyed at how well I was doing compared to my prince beast 100. I think it's actually a good racket and I've given up trying to convince him to use a real racket
Hi, I've a question. if you need to buy new racquet. how many do you prefer to purchase? two or three or more??
When I was playing quite competitively for my college team, I would get 3 because I was breaking strings decently often. Otherwise, I would just buy two. These days, I’d probably get at least three because it helps a lot when testing new strings for review or weight setups.
@@TennCom thank you :)
Beckett, don't mean to sound like a broken record, but I really think you need to bring a couple Dunlops into the fray: the SX 300 Tour and FX 500 Tour. I know Dunlop is not as much of a click-magnet as Babolat or Head, but ignoring that, I think they merit a serious look. They retain the same 6-point HL strung balance as your ET, allowing for similar forehand lag and whip, but the SX300T also incorporates the same beam width from its 100" brother, for more power, and the FX500T a bit slimmer but more stiffness, for a similar result. Presuming either one gives you enough feel, you could find a winner there. I'd love to see you include one or both in an upcoming analysis, for your benefit and ours! All the best as you continue your journey.
You are right. I'm going to visit Courtside next weekend and do a big demo session. My buddy is a Dunlop sponsored player and he uses the SX300 Tour but its heavily modified to more weight than I can handle. I also want to try the CX200. The CEO of VT Advantec uses the CX200 and we have pretty similar taste in racquets. The FX500 Tour looks cool too, but I'm worried the twistweight is too high. New ones coming out soon I think as well.
@@TennCom That's great news. SX/FX higher TW's, yes, but as a benefit they're both more stable than the ET in stock form. As such, the FX500T mod I find most common is simply a bit of lead at 12 plus an overgrip or two, which increase centerline mass and effectively *lower* the twist weight, so you can very quickly get back down towards what you're used to with the ET. Just for kicks, I would try the regular FX 500 as well. And yes, the new FX series is near, including the 500 Tour with a lower 65-66RA instead of the higher 69-70. Also, for the CX series, the 200 and 200 Tour are pretty low powered, so increasing power has to come more or less via weight and/or stringing lower, which I'm not sure will be your cup of tea. You might try the CX 400 Tour as well -- 100" 23mm beam in the vein of a Speed/Speed Pro. Best of luck with the session!
I come from a pure aero rafa 2019, I want a little more control, without perferring that spin, which one do you recommend between the babolat pure aero 2022 and the head extreme mp 2022? Thanks a lot!
The Aero will be a more natural adjustment. If you love everything about the '19 PA but you want 10% more control, the '23 PA is a perfect choice.
@@TennCom Thanks a lot!!!! wonderful channel!!! Always pay attention to all your racket reviews, do you personally think it's better and do you think the pure aero 2023 is an improvement over the 2019? Will I lose that power and that overwhelming spin that the previous model had? I fear that the ball does not run well
Thanks man! I personally think that it is an improvement over the previous version. I prefer the feel and the tighter string pattern in the new version is a very welcomed change. The average swingweight is lower on this version so it’s got less power and spin potential, but you can fix this with lead tape
@@TennCom which side would you put lead tape on? more stability at 3 and 9 or 1 gram at 12? The good thing for this 2023 model is that you can use a power string like alu power rough 1.25, or tour bite at low tension (22kg) it would solve the problems of lack of power, instead I really liked the feeling of the head but I think that the Babolat is more precise... the head sometimes doesn't feel the ball because of the auxetic material... it's a pleasure to be able to chat and talk with you ❤️❤️❤️
I would just put it at 12 unless you have torsional stability issues. Then put at 3 and 9
If you were to go back and place the Extreme MP Auxetic in your 100 sq. in. tier list, would it be an S or an A?
Prob just A. I don't think it appeals to a wide enough audience to be considered S, nor does it do any one thing exceeding well that no other racquet can accomplish.
After seeing Simon's cake, I forgot what the video was about
can confirm his butt is very intoxicating
The review was like a movie, i though he was gonna pick the aero and then boom, unexpected turn of events. Lol. Did you try the pure strike vs 2022?
sadly i have not tried the Strike VS. I'm interested for the memes, but the twistweight is probably too high for me to feel comfortable with it
@@TennCom oh i see. I pulled the trigger with the strike VS since it was on sale on black friday.
Haha, yeah great vid twist. I thought we might lose him to the Aero but can see his love for the Extreme series is still there. Once bitten forever smitten lol!
Guys i have a same problem, im not able to choose a racket i want forgiveness and some control too im not able to decide between speed mp / extreme tour / radical mp /gravity mp/ezone 98 Any Help PLEASE?
Imo wait till next year. Lots of cool new racquets coming out from Jan to Marchish
@@TennCom i want to order before christmas So any suggestions between these racquets
Since I don’t know anything about your game whatsoever, I think you should get the Extreme Tour because Tennis Spin called it racquet of the year. If you want me to take a detailed look at your game, I offer a paid consultation service on my website.
Tbh I like all of the racquets you mentioned except the Speed MP so it’s hard to go wrong.
One last thing
Which one should i go with if i want forgiveness and some control EXTREME TOUR OR RADICAL MP
Did you guys do any customization?
The Aero is stock and the Extreme has 2g of lead at 12 o'clock just to bring it up to the average Tennis Warehouse spec
I find the Pure Aero is better for hitting flat shots and can also hit great controlled spin. The aero also seems to have more power but I have to get my technique right which is good my game. Interestingly I didn’t like the Aero when I first got it and left it for my Speed MP but I have come back to it as it has more spin than the Speed MP. So I am going with the Aero and excited to see how my game goes in the spring summer. Thanks for video.
currently i like the technifibre iso 305 plenty of power there
Yeah my buddy here just got one and I still need to try it
Damn good racquet, i play this stick as well. Grapplesnake m8 at 49 lbs
And control too!
I definitely prefer Extreme, which gets a fast racket speed.
have you guys tried the speed mp? sorry if i missed that vid but def worth a demo.
Do you find it different than the Pro?
@@TennCom def. it's way more responsive than the pro; the slightly more open string pattern helps. i'm not a fan of the pro but love the mp with some weight added at 3 and 9. i'll have to try the new generation extremes. the last one i tried was the youtek extreme pro, which i go back and forth on.
Isn’t the layup the same though? I think the only difference is weight and drill pattern
@@TennCom layup? speed pro is 18x20, while mp is 16x19.
Like the flex of the graphite. Ok really like the string pattern in the Pro, it was the frame and flex of the Speed that I didn’t like
Can we buy tenncom merch yet? My sister in law lives in Toronto and is coming over in a couple weeks. UK needs more spotlight on you guys
We haven’t quite found a producer that makes shirts of the quality/colour that we want but it’s in progress
@@TennCom 😟😟😟😟😟😟
Radical MP is difficult to use ?
more difficult that then racquets but in the grand scheme id say its easy
How does the Pure Aero 23 compare to the Ezone 100 22?
pretty similar. I think the Bab is more muted and the Yonex feels more solid. Yonex swings maybe a tiny bit faster, but this will vary depending on QC between units. Stability is a little better on the Yonex, but the Aero gives you nice feedback on off-centre shots so you can diagnose your misses more easily. I really like both frame and I don't think you can really go wrong here.
@@TennCom how do their stringbed performance compare? Probably more spin and higer launch angle with the Aero maybe?
@@esrf123 no, the opposite. The Extreme is slightly more open and the Aero is slightly more dense. I get easier flat balls and more knifing slices with the Aero, whereas the lightness of the Extreme helps me whip up the back of topspin shots for more topspin.
@@TennCom thanks a lot for your replies! How bout the stringbed performance of the ezone 100 compared to the aero23? I cannot decide between the 2 racquets as I dont have a way to demo racquets in our area.
They are pretty close. I don’t think you can go wrong with either of you are looking for a stability oriented 100 square inch racquet
Yes more butt footage of Simon! He can definitely rival with Marco Girons in the battle of the booties!
I think a Yonex test drive at 100 is in order?
New VCORE 100 coming soon
@@TennCom could that be my next stick?
As the Head MP didn’t fit your play, the Babolat racquets doesn’t work for me. I play really bad with any Babolat racquet.
Head speed pro is my racquet of choice. Perfect control and just enough power. For more power just lower the tension a bit and Voila!!🎉
racing green is tough!!!
how does Ezone 100 compare to the Extreme Mp In your opinion?
That would be an interesting comparison as i'm thinking about to get an Ezone 100 or 98 beside my Extremes
I’d say that the EZone 100 plays more similar to the Pure Aero than the Extreme. The weight distribution felt similar and I had similar forehand issues with the EZone. I found the feel on the Yonex to be more muted than the Extreme but also slightly more solid feeling.
Must watch!
Where I get your shirt - Ok maybe not yours directly.
are you sure? I can send it without even washing it
that was one hell of a twist from beckett for real
I am the most unpredictable man on CZcams
Beckett, coming from the ET 🐐, you have to expect nothing but a downgrade lol 😂 jokes aside, I thought it was interesting that Simon played so well with the Aero, specially because it’s a completely different racket comparing to his Gravity!
Tbh I played last night with a customized AEMP with RPM Power to tame the launch and I can still do a lot more with the ET on my forehand side so you might be right
Rafa’s influence!
Dunlop sx
Wait for the Radical MP Auxetic. It'll be better than both of those rackets.
have you tried it?
In an earlier video you guys praise the Extreme MP avocado to the highest. Now you put it down. Confusing.
I still prefer the Extreme MP to a lot of 100 square inch racquets out there. The Extreme performs worse than the PA100 in a lot of areas, from a top down "objective" point of view, but my game can't necessarily take advantage of those strengths. If you were able to catch the end of the video, you'll see that I still picked the Extreme as my preferred racquet. Its not that we are flip flopping our opinions, its that different videos have different contexts. The original Extreme MP review was produced before we had tried the new Pure Aero, and more specifically references improvements from the previous version, whereas this video is a direct comparison to a single racquet.
@@TennCom Thanks for the clarification. The Prestige Auxetic 2021 100" MP (former tour) CPI 400, should maybe suit your game quite well. A tad more flexi and control oriented than the Avocado Extreme MP (CPI 500). some reviwers with older playstyle have given it slightly better grades than the avocado. I think I would not play well with the pure aero. I was taught tennis in the 90's
I like pure Storm GT, now Pure strike and the innegra Prestige + auxetic Prestige. Some Prestiges in between are garbage.
The reason you cant get lag on your forehand is because you are always getting jammed up, way too close to the body. the reason you feel you need to get close to rhe body is because you are too western. you should aim to change your grip to be more semi western, and take the racket back like shapo, he creates amazing space.
gameplay was kind of a tough watch boys
now imagine you had to also edit it
Becket is a package playing tennis... terrible, this video is not serious... the extreme mp has a technology that Babolat would like to have... the auxetic!!!! babolat is a racket made in china! armbreaker and this version does not fire the ball at all !!! without power, a chestnut
Head is made in China too big boy
@@TennCom no friend… babolat in china, head in austria, 👍🏼
All of my Head racquets are made in China. It’s written in the frames beside the specs on the hoop. There’s also a label that says engineered in Austria, which only refers to the design. Babolat’s are engineered in France but made in China.
That review is clearly made from Babolat fan boys...😂
did you even watch the video lol
Aero is garbage. Plastic. Hollow. Overpriced.
You Feisty Bastard
@@TennCom There, I said it. I demoed the new Aero on 2 separate occasions. It's OK, but still a long way off from from the Aero Pro Drive GT. The thing I don't like about it is that it forces you to swing a certain way. It's not for flattening the ball out, etc. It needs to be swung hard with a lot of brush for it to be effective.
@@feistybastard I agree completely. I feel forced into playing a certain with the Aero which is why I didn't pick it to win this test. I don't think that makes it a bad racquet though, because if you already play in a way that suits the Aero, its a excellent racquet.
