Yesterday I was on a one day trip to Gothenborg in Sweden, I brought a Sony A7RIV with the Zeiss Loxia Distagon 21mm 2.8 mounted and a Sony A7RIVA with the Sony Zeiss Sonnar 55mm 1.8 mounted, it is an excellent combo for walking around in a large City, I had a spare battery, spare memory cards and a dust blower, all in a small shoulder bag.
Okay, I’ve always scratched my head about the obsession around the kislux book totes and their practicality, but this one is adorable!! Congratulations
😂😂 I died at the deadcat cutaway! Great vid Em, love the little cheap camcorder, so right about everything not needing to be 6K crispiness 🤣 I also find Lower resolutions to feel more nostalgic now, so it can actually be more of a creative choice too!
I'm hooked on your drone! Wow the auto circling feature is the bomb! Lovely video. So happy you took advantage of this beautiful location to shoot it. Cheers!
Thanks, Emily. Always nice to see what other photographers pack. By the way, I have glued the dead cat on my Rode first gen transmitter. Doesn't come off any more😀
Go Hawks!! Super excited for this season! Can’t wait to see what Gino/Lockett/Metcalf can achieve. And also excited to see what we’ve done with all that lovely money we had to spend this off season!
Just found your channel as I was researching a new lease for my LUMIX GX8. Love the camera and have been wondering about getting a second shooter that was even smaller. Thanks so much for the great content and inspiration!
Favorite travel kit: Olympus EM10.2 with the Lumix 20mm f1.7 pancake lens. It fits in my jacket pocket. Pretty fast and sharp and inexpensive. Great for street photography.
My bag is packed, ready to go... Bag: Vanguard Havana 41 with... Olympus OM-D E-M1 ii, Olympus 14-150mm, 9-18mm, Lumix GX80 (backup camera and/or video camera), Lumix 12-60mm & 14mm. Insta360 one r, 4k mod, 360 mod, selfie stick. Plus Gorillapod, spare batteries, memory cards etc. ASUS Chromebook, usb c hub, 1Tb SSD. Edit: plus a Peak Design 3L Sling/Capture Clip for carrying some of the gear when I'm out & about (along with a 10L Lowepro backpack for Gorillapod etc. 👍 All set... I hope! 😁
No tales of woe fortunately! I sold the Mavic to get the Avata, and while I do love flying FPV I find the goggles etc to be really bulky for travel. I’m super happy with the Mini now! 😁
Great videos, love your photos. If you could make a short video ‘how to’ do back up copy with the iPad mini it would be greatly appreciated. I was looking for such an option but might be limited due to a lightning connector iPad. Does the camera USB adapter and a standard usb hub work?
I'm a fan of mixed light: I call it "dapple-o-graphy" and for close shots it's often necessary to fill the sharp shadows a bit. Especially when shooting flowers since bracketing for HDR results in un-matchable frames from wind and dapple variation. For such close-up nature work, my indispensable item is a small (45-50 cm.) collapsible silver / white reflector. When "folded" it tucks easily into any flat pocket on a camera bag.
I use a lot of the same equipment for my bicycle trips thru Europe. (GH6, 12-60, Insta360 X2, the 3m stick for drone like footage in places where you can't fly anyway). My additional lenses are the 12mm/1.4, 9mm/1.7 and 7.5mm/2. I like to film in cities in the evening and those lenses are great for this purpose. Very important for me is a very good clamp to mount the insta360 on the bicycle and the Ulnazi PT20 that attaches the Rode wireless go to the Insta360 in an invisible position.
You're so ridiculously talented. I love your channel. My travel gear is super simple. A first gen EM1 with the Oly 14-45 Pro, and extra batteries of course, in a Tamrac "Superlight" (style #5401) bag. I love this bag because it's small and looks like crap, which makes it less of a target to steal. My camera of choice is a Pen F, but for travel, the EM1 is weather sealed and less fidgety.
I heard you mentioned mains powered lights for your videos. If you search for a light called the softy or softee light. It's really great. If you buy one you may well buy a second.
Nice video. Next month I’m making the annual pilgrimage home to NYC. I use a think Tank 6 or 10 liter bag. One camera body and two, maybe three lenses. One water bottle. Spare battery and memory cards. That’s it. I’m a street photographer. When I walk it is 10-20km a day. No unnecessary gear. My mantra is small and light. No backpack for me. If I have the space I’m tempted to fill it. I’ll be 71 during the trip. Extra gear makes my neck and shoulders cry. A ND filter for my lenses is possible though. While in NYC will purchase a NY Giants wool cap to accompany the Seahawks one that you wear. Go Gmen! Mask On Nurse Marty (Ret)
Watching this has added to my wish list. I now want an Insta 360 X3 too. The footage looked great. We have the Mavic Mini and its very noisy I would agree with that. x
3:20 Looks like the new Insta 360 3 meter selfistick/monopod? Does that new handle reduce/stop handling noise? I've the original one and both with the Insta360 camera and as a mic boom for a Zoom H1n it pick up a lot of handling noise from the checkered grip if you change hand positions (I'll probably just put some bicycle handle bar grip tape on it rather than buying the new one)
Awesome video, as always! 😊 I also love tech and travelling, so I totally understand and share your channel philosophy! If I have enough space in my bag, I also like to take my Anker Nebula Capsule for watching Netflix when in bed, and it's so much more affordable nowadays! Give it a try one day 👍
Very similar travel lens philosophy... Only I go with 12-35 f2.8 (rather than 12-60) And 45-175 (rather than 35-100) I embrace the 35-45 gap to get the extra reach 😂 Wider aperature up to 35mm, but worse aperature past 35mm... everything is a trade-off. ...also seems the 20mm pancake seems to slip in there... What's one more lens 😂
It's funny how every time I watch a video of yours I unlock more photography needs 😂 I would love to start droning but I'm not sure how much of a commitment it is, did you do a course or did you learn to pilot drones yourself? I'm really lusting over that GH6 😍😍😍
Haha sorry not sorry 🤣 I did a 3 day course in 2017 for commercial flight permissions, that Brexit basically made useless, but it was good to learn formally. Otherwise I think the DJI drones like this little one are really intuitive and fun. I believe you need to register the drone and have insurance before using them for work, for a wedding for example. But because this one is under 250g you have the right to fly it in a lot more places
Why is no one mentioning the 14-140mm? This lens is just SOOO versatile (and small)...it's my always-on lens. I know....not particular fast but who cares.
That Panasonic camcorder is really a Sanyo. Panasonic bought Sanyo for their battery recharging technology. And then they rebranded the Sanyo camcorders to Panasonic. They made good cheap camcorders back in the day.
I never actually owned that one unfortunately - I would have in a heartbeat if I did! Another contender is the Laowa 6mm f2 that I’m testing at the moment. Much smaller, faster, and wider than the Meike!
A mate and I both bought Rode Wireless 2 mic's a couple of years ago and we both had battery issues around the same time with a Transmitter/mic. One of the mic batteries just went up and died for no reason. I sent mine back to Amazon for a replacement and, so far, touch wood, I've not had any problems with the replacement kit. Just a thought in case you have any battery issues with a transmitter. I've also just started watching Star Trek Discovery. I'm five episodes in and loving it. I needed something to replace finishing Picard, last week.
Picard season 3 was ASTOUNDING! I showed it to my dad while we were away! If you haven’t yet, definitely check out Strange New Worlds. I’d say that’s the closest second. (Tho I do also enjoy Disco!)
@@MicroFourNerds In the words of Meatloaf, "Two out of three ain't bad" I'm having a brain fart moment experimenting with exposure. Yes I know, after all these years I should have nailed this by now. I'm in LOG with my GH6 and I am doing two test shots of me and a xRite Video Passport because I don't have a life. Test shot 1, I have the zebras at 55% and getting them to just about show on my face. Test shot 2, I have the zebras at 75% and I'm exposing for the brightest thing in the frame which is the sky and White Chip on my colour checker. Both zebras give very different results. When you play with your GH6, and assuming you don't use a Grey Card to zero in exposure, what do you set your zebras to please to get a quick and dirty exposure? My brain is going pop on this simple test.
Love videos like these! I'm currently working out what to pack for a trip in October, and i literally purchased a 3 meter selfie stick like yours today to use with my insta360 camera (X2) 😅. As for photo cameras, i'm still undecided which camera(s) to take, but i like the idea of bring ones that can be charged by USB, so i'm not having to bring multiple chargers. Do you bring powerbanks with you at all?
I do have a big power bank, but more for my handheld gaming device (ROG Ally) and phone. I do love a camera with USB-c though - you can charge and record, or just leave it going from the car as you move about. So handy!
Ooooh, I do like a peek into other peoples bags, even if I do end up green with envy. Have you been able to compare the Meike 8m f2.8 against the Laowa 7.5mm f2?
Great video. I have that exact same bag in that exact same colour and regretted it after my second shoot 😂 Great bag, stupid colour choice, but as you said, machine washable and looks great again for about 6 minutes 🤣
Technical question with the ipad do you back up to an external drive of some sort as well or just the ipad??? I would love to do this for travel rather than my 14" MacBook pro
