On Dinosaur, I’m pretty sure the reason she hits him is because back when he wrote the song, she told him the notes were too high and so he told her that she would never have to sing it live…. but it became a huge hit!

25:17 Chanhyuk (brother) composed the song that Suhyun (sister) has to sing live and this part is not easy, as you said, she has to focus as well. Thus the punch... 🤣 ("Dinosaur" is actually very emotional song, the lyrics tells about their childhood and the bad dream they had, as children, they saw debt collectors like dinosaurs)

the fact that he composed all of these songs!! all of their songs!!!! they're just incredible
uniquely enough, AKMU is considered musical prodigies in the Korean music scene. Lee Chan-hyuk is a musical production genius, he composes almost all of their music. He also produces for other musicians but prefers to be a silent producer for them. Lee Suhyun on the other hand has almost perfect pitch and as a wide vocal range. Both of them are creative geniuses in their own right, together and as solo artists. Od and new artists actually approach them discreetly.
AKMU is one of my favorite singer groups. They made their debut through an audition program, and when they won the show, they were only 13-16 years old. One of the reasons why they are attracting attention as singers is that all the songs they sang at auditions and released since their debut have been written and composed by the brother, Lee Chan-hyuk. Of course, there's a beautiful voice of sister, Soohyun Lee. Also, Lee Chan-hyuk's lyrics are not conventional and have a lot of unique ideas, so they have the power to captivate listeners and make people remember for a long time. So anyone in Korea who knows this team loves this 'love-lee' team. (Furthermore, what's more surprising is that Lee Chan-hyuk started composing about just a month before they went on the audition show.)

Chanhyuk also released a solo album recently, and as you predicted, singing solo, his songs are a lot different sounding than songs he composes for AKMU.
Meanwhile, Suhyun’s solo “ALIEN” is more her arena ~ very upbeat, and fun to listen to (this is also composed by Chanhyuk)

They are really a musically genius duo!
The brother is responsible for all of their song. He can compose a song in just one sitting, and also widely know as a lyrical genius, as their song usually contain fun, creative, even emotional lyrics.
The sister is famous for her angelic, disney princess voice that is so pleasant to listen to.
Both of them are known for their ability to harmonize into everything create melody right away to almost everything. And they are amazingly always in sync. Akmu really impressed me beyond words everytime I watch and listen to them

25:04 this part is funny when you know, as does all of their other songs, her brother wrote the song and she complained about this song being too hard for her and said that they refused to sing this again. even during their promotion, they didnt go to tv shows for the sake of her vocal chord. but this song was so iconic for that part and people loved the song so they had to keep singing it anyway🤣
also the one thing about akmu that kept me watching their live more than their recorded song is that you can find them singing one song with 10 different ways. they constantly put new arrangements, notes in some part and it kept the song refresing every time. thats what makes them so great and enjoyable to listen to
Their concerts are INSANE. I'm privileged to have been to their concert once and it was amazing!!!
The fact : All of the AKMU's songs are brother's own songs.
AKMU는 2012년 케이팝스타 시즌2 라는 공개오디션에서 우승한 남매 듀오이다. 오빠 이찬혁의 작사 작곡 능력과 동생 이수현의 음색과 보컬 능력이 매우 뛰어나다. 이 두 사람이 남매로서 한팀으로 활동하니 너무 좋은 시너지를 낼 수 있었다. 그래서 이 당시 오디션에서는 상상할 수 없었던 자작곡으로 대부분의 경연을 이겨낸다. 그리고 이것으로 인해 센세이셔널한 반응과 대중의 관심을 이끌어낼 수 있었다.
이후 2014년에 ‘악동뮤지션’이라는 이름으로 정식 데뷔한다. 이 당시에는 잘 볼 수 없었던 자작곡으로만 채워진 정규 1집 ‘PLAY’ 앨범을 발표한다. 모든 음원차트를 올킬함과 동시에 수록곡을 포함한 전곡을 1위부터 줄세우기를 한다. 이 당시 또 한번 한국 가요계에 엄청난 영향력을 미친다.
그들은 이 이후에도 본인들의 자작곡으로만 채워진 신곡들을 발표한다. 더불어 좋은 성적들을 보여준다. 그럼에도 불구하고 한가지 장르에만 국한되지 않고 다양한 음악 스펙트럼을 가져가면서 ‘AKMU가 하나의 장르다’ 라는 대중의 평가가 줄을 잇게 된다. 그래서 현재까지 한국 가요계에서 유일무이한 존재이자 특별한 위치를 가지게 되었다.
*2019년 3집 정규 앨범부터 공식활동명이 AKDONG MUSICIAN(악동뮤지션)에서 AKMU(악뮤)로 변경되었다
AKMU is a sibling duo who won the public audition show K-pop Star Season 2 in 2012. The brother, Lee Chan-hyuk’s songwriting ability and the sister, Lee Su-hyun’s voice color and vocal ability are outstanding. The two were able to create great synergy as a team as siblings. Therefore, they won most of the competition with their own songs that were unimaginable at the time of the audition. This led to sensational reactions and public interest.
They officially debuted in 2014 under the name ‘Akdong Musician’. At that time, they released their first full-length album ‘PLAY’, filled with their own songs that were rarely seen. They topped all music charts and lined up all songs including the tracks from first to last. At this time, they had a huge influence on the Korean music industry once again.
They continue to release new songs filled only with their own songs. They also show good results. Despite this, they do not limit themselves to one genre and carry a variety of music spectrums, leading to the public’s evaluation that ‘AKMU is a genre’. Therefore, they have become a unique and special existence in the Korean music industry to this day.
*From the 3rd regular album in 2019, the official activity name was changed from AKDONG MUSICIAN(악동뮤지션) to AKMU(악뮤).
Yes! Please do go listen to ‘time and fallen leaves’ (the fourth song in the medley). It’s so beautiful and one I’m my favourite akmu songs for sure!
Also, I’m not sure if you already know but Chanhyuk (the brother) writes and produces all of akmu’s songs so even though he doesn’t necessarily take center stage in performances like this where Suhyeon (the sister) sings more, a lot of the vocal arrangements and mixing of different genres and styles that perfectly suit their voices is down to him.
The song after Dinosaur is “How can I love the heartbreak…”. Definitely worth its own reaction.

Soo Hyun is one of my favorite female voices in Kpop. Her voice is so comfortable to listen to yet carries delicate emotions.
Also Akmu is regarded so highly by everyone in the industry because of Chan Hyuk's songwriting ability. Almost all of their songs are composed by Chan Hyuk and he is truly a genius and a generational songwriter.

Thank you for your reaction. I learned about how hard Suhyun techniques by a vocal coach's view. I didn't know that her voice requires complicated head mix ,runs and dynamics because when i listen to their songs its always just sound effortless and perfect. Wow! I should really appreciate Su Hyun's voice more.

Chan-hyuk is the composer and lyricist of all the songs they have released since their debut. And he produced most of the recently released songs. Suhyun has been famous for her genius vocals since her debut. And over the course of ten years, she became an incredibly high-quality vocalist, delivering deeper emotions in a more refined tone.

A fun fact also on why the last song 후라이의 꿈 (Fry's Dream / Fried Egg's Dream) is that this was originally written by Chanhyuk and gifted by AKMU to IU when she guested at their concert in 2014 HAHAHA so the high range is def written a LOT for her and in her style which is why Chanhyuk always says that even Suhyun has to work really hard with her voice for this song LOL

The way you describe the difference in their voices reminds me of Chloe and Halle. It's the exact same dynamic. Chloe uses a more husky, breathy singing style, while Halle's style is more bright and clear.
