Black Bear Pass. Overland Trailer and Ford Bronco on slick mud

- PART 2 of our Colorado Black Bear Pass adventure! We made our way back from Telluride in the rain to discover our camp spot had been completely rained out. This spot was roughly 2500 feet down in a muddy valley which proved challenging and stressful to get back out. We had to use our 2021 Ford Bronco Wildtrak to pull our Expedition Trailers Offtrax Feenix Overland Trailer back up and out without sliding off the mountain or into a wall.

You two make a great team. There's no way my wife would have been that calm.
First time I did that trail was in my old ‘94 Jeep YJ. I tore off a front brake line at that first sketchy switchback and had to come down with the emergency brake, crawling at idle in low range and moving through rest of the switcheroos with the starter. It was a manual trans rig. Had it been an automatic I’d have been stranded at best. I had no parts, or tools onboard, just camping gear and all my photo gear. Learned 1) never do trails like that alone, 2) carry spares & tools, 3) join a club and learn from the experiences of the members. Our club sponsors that trail, treat it with respect!
Oh man bet that was sketch!!
@@ChaseGentry ‘Y THINK! 🤣 I made it into Telluride and the Floradora. I probably had four beers waiting for the tow truck. The tow truck ride home was another mail biter for another story time.
Great job Jackie you did very well! Awesome job on that mid slicked road chase!
🙏🙏👊🏻she did great!
Super cool girl!
Another awesome video!! 🤜🤛😉😎🤟🎃🤟❤️🔥
🙏🙏
Great drama and great cast 😊
😊 thank you!
Just got my Bronco, I can’t wait to go use it!
Congrats!!!!
This is one more reason in a list of many, why he is Our Brand Ambassador.
I only work with the best 😉😈💯🤘🏻
Chase I am really really happy with my front and rear detachable RokBlokz XL flaps - I bet your wife would be happier, your Bronco cleaner, and your exterior paint more durable. Ask her!
Mud can be sketchy. That feeling of sliding sideways is no fun. Awesome video!
Thanks!! And yes! So unpredictable!
Such a fun adventure!
Good call on getting out when you did! Although I could think of worse places to be stuck lol hahaha. Going downhill in the mud always feels less in control then going up to me; especially in that Kentucky clay.
So unpredictable!!! Thanks for watching 🙏🙏🙏
Your wife is a trooper. That music in the background is hilarious.. Like a horror film. :)
Yes she is!! 😂😂😂😂 I thought the Music was fitting too 😂😂 thanks for watching!! 🙏
the only way to learn wheeling is to wheel it, good job!! you lived to do another pass!! keep it up!
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
So glad we decided to leave and not wait it out! 😅
Same!
Excellent job, Jackie!
Great video! My wife and I met both of you at Bronco Super Celebration West. She’ll get a kick out of watching this.
Oh awesome!!! Thanks for tuning into the channel we really appreciate the support🙏🙏
Great video guys !!
Thanks !
Love hearing ya’ll laugh at the end! 🤘🏻👌🏻
🙌🙌🙌
On super extreme mud you could air down your tire's 20psi to get better traction. I was stuck trying to get up a muddy tail, air tires down and it worked.
My tires were at 16psi 😉
She’s doing great
I’ve noticed that doing trail turn to the right works intermittently for me too. Going left seems to work perfect.
Also, I fell into that hole too. The only thing that stopped me was my arms sticking out and those two rocks catching my elbow. 😂. And I’ve done this trail like 5x 🤦♂️
Man!! Glad you caught yourself!! Holy smokes that coulda been bad!!
Kool 👍 . Still waiting to be able to order are Bronco
You were never STRANDED. You engaged in shameless clickbait. Girl drives mountain road dangerously distracted by someone yelling at her or I pulled a trailer on a muddy road would be ethical titles that fit the video.
Looks like you took the bait 😂 🎣
You guys make a cute couple
👍🏻
Kudos to the Missus!!! 🎉
Mud is super sketchy. My wife and I had a similar experience over the summer in our 4Runner. Going sideways most the time. Even slid into a small ditch on the side of the road and got stuck. Eventually was able to get it out. Very scary
Definitely a super unpredictable trail circumstance! Definitely reminded us to pay closer attention to the weather
I always get worried about the creaks and groans trail turn assist makes and I think I’m binding up the 4WD. It’s hard to commit. Way to go.
BTW, she did great!
Love your content! (also a comment to enhance your CZcams algorithm performance)
I appreciate it🙌🙌🙏🙏🙏🙏
We’re you folks camped up at Alta Lakes? (I’m local)
Great
🙏🙏🙏🙏
Nice driving from her, but change your seat position to keep it far from the steering wheel, airbag can kill her that close.
Airbags won’t go off at the speeds of off roading. Doesn’t work like that
I'd recommend not kicking rocks down the mountain. You never know when there is a hiker or another vehicle down there.
👍🏻 yep
Thank goodness she is such a cutie and willing to learn. Otherwise you would have to be looking for a new partner. Lol.
Just not a huge fan of ripping up trail dragging a tire. Have the option to do it on my wrangler with the Tazer.
It is not new to the bronco. . it was available before the bronco on a different manufacturer. Yet we see jeep owners abuse trails all over the place? Get a clue... There is no tread lightly for some time.... People have abused nature and made their own trials for many years now. Just sickening. Well before the current bronco came around.
It’s not ripping up the trail of you watch when the tire starts to bind a lot it releases the tire and slows it to roll the soft sand does plow a lot but hey your probably one of those guys that rut the trails when it’s supper wet and muddy going hell yeah brother we’re mudding
How close are you to putting 50k on the Bronco? I am sitting at 44k in 11 months.
I got my bronco in March this year .. mine has 46,2xx on it currently 😉
@@ChaseGentry I am slowly catching you... I don't drive for a living either, I have a full time job... wait until I retire next year 😂.
Any competent driver in a properly outfitted vehicle will find that black bear pass is an easy trail, unless you are truly afraid of shelf roads, you don't need any fancy trail turning systems on your vehicle, from your video that system looked to make the turn worse slipping and pushing a tire, those turns on black bear have room for crew cab f150s to make the turn, they jocky around a bit but i have seen it done, btw you can go to jail for hurting people below you when you kick rocks off the edge, black bear is 4x4 at the top and hiking trail at the bottom to bridal falls and 1000 feet in vertical those rocks can kill, now I'll get off my soap box

Way too many ads. You had an ad one minute in and every couple minutes after that. I couldn't watch.
I don’t control the ads…
A Toyota would’ve given you more confidence to pull that trailer. 😉
Lol I’ve owned 3 yotas..
Dude. You worry worse than 10 women. Stay on pavement
🤣🤣🤣🤣😘
