    If prices are no issues then its great, but for smaller cost a basic button and dial box with a Raspberry pi screen will do same job.. If your budget start to ramp up into the 1000s then I think it will be cheaper to fly in RL 😉 btw there's no lag because its a pop out screen, and the buttons are mapped to do the same as mouse clicking on the virtual cockpit.

    This looks great Mark, I'm definitely going to get one this year. A couple of questions. In VR I wouldn't want the screen connected at all. My PC is several feet away from my cockpit and I'd need to run probably a 5 metre HDMi cable across my carpet to the back of the PC to use it. I'll be in VR anyway so I don't care, I just want the functionality of the buttons.
    I did ask flightsimbuilder last year if it worked without the HDMi cable plugged in and they said yes, the cable was entirely optional.
    Do you mind testing that if you haven't already? Also, I'm wondering if you don't use the HDMi whether you don't need the power supply either and it will work via USB only like my other peripherals?

    Loved the Intro Mark you missed your true calling. I'm slightly confused. If each unit requires its own power plug, USB Port and HDMI/Display port, how do you do all that from a single Graphics card? Love the principle just don't see how I could run the units. I'm referring to the FlightSimBuilder section of your presentation Mark. They had at least 5 screens showing, 3 monitors plus 2 1000's. My system only has 1 Display Port and 1 HDMI outputs on my graphics card. How does that work.

    Mark: Does popping out 'any' window (even/particularly the VFR map) have a severe impact on FPS for you? It still does for me on 13900K/4090 at 4K TAA with Frame Generation whether moved to a secondary screen or even just left in place. Closing the 'popout' instantly restores FPS. The WASM mapping for the 530/430/1000 would utilise the large amount of spare CPU capacity and hopefully would have no impact on FPS as long as popping out the window doesn't. A G1000 review would be much appreciated!

      @ColinDyckes Před rokem +1

      @@SimHangerFS Yes, I did notice that Mark. Would you be willing to popout the VFR map to both your main screen and also move it to a secondary. I'm running 4K main and 1080p secondary and just can't work out what is causing the almost halving of frame rate on even the most powerful machine. An artifact of MSFS, or what? It's genuinely got me stumped and I'm retired after a lifetime in the computer industry! Frame Generation offsets the loss, but such a simple popout shouldn't have such an effect if your 430/530 gives maybe 15% loss.

    • @ColinDyckes

      @@SimHangerFS EDIT: I tried the popout windows (VFR map and G1000) again today for the first time since before Xmas, and with very latest video driver. They have negligible effect on frame rate now. MSFS updates must have fixed it. Pity the buttons at the bottom of the G1000 don't popout as well for use on a secondary screen. FS Traffic looks good as well.

      @Tristan.J.C Před 2 měsíci

      Hi, not sure if your still having trouble but I have just purchased one after watching this review. I use pop-outs and originally I had the same performance impact. I'm leaving my fix here for you and other people in the hope that maybe someone else is searching for a fix method. (NOTE: This fix is for Nvidia Cards ONLY)
      Go into your Nvidia Control Panel and select 'Set up G-SYNC, G-SYNC Compatible'' and make sure that 'Enable G-Sync is enabled but the most important thing is to make sure that the option is selected for 'Enable for windowed and full screen mode'. Then make sure V-Sync is 'OFF' in both FS2020 and also in the Nvidia Control Panel Settings, also in Nvidia settings and FS2020 make sure you don't have any limits on the FPS/Refresh Rate. Give everything a nice restart and boot up the SIM. Now if that G-Sync windowed option wasn't selected this should fix the FPS issue.
      Hope it helps anyone and good luck.

    Well, it certainly works in X-plane. In MFSF 2020 I seem to have it stuck on the 430 and can't figure out why. For some reason I can't seem to popout the 530 screen where as the 430 is fine. I can drag the 430 screen over as directed, and all the controls work, but it's controlling the 530 in the sim. The 430 screen is unchanged unless I use the sim controls. I'm sure it's because I can't seem to replace the new display with the 530. Also, I uninstalled the flightsimbuilder app and when I restarted everything it still works, meaning the device controls the 530 but shows the 430. Any ideas on how why I can't popout my 530?

    • @martygenska8117
      @martygenska8117 Před rokem

      Sorry Mark, ignore that rambling post from above. Turns out that when I tried to popout that 530 screen, it did actually work, but it was just a tiny box down in my bottom left-hand corner of the screen and I never saw it. All is good now. I did discover, as you mentioned, that if you swap from the 430 to the 530 you pretty much need to restart everything. I also noticed a small red light on the left side of the screen (not sure if you have it on yours) that was solid red. I'm thinking that was telling me there was some fault with the USB connection because it went away after I rebooted and restarted the sim. Anyway, thanks again for all the time you put into this.
