YES! It's the video I have been waiting for! Thank you for making this video. Very detail and easy to understand.
It’s good to see that Loupedeck seem to be looking at the flight sim world. With their knowledge they should look at creating an FS specific bit of hardware to fill the gap in the market for relatively inexpensive G1000 control and AP control in other aircraft. I.e. a mix of buttons and dual rotary encoders with displays for selected ALT etc…
Thanks for the video, Mark. After watching it, I have bought a Loupedeck Live unit and, after several days of using, I think it has indeed a lot of future.
Thanks again Mark for an extremely detailed review. This product does look impressive, however too expensive and a somewhat complicated in its use. Do appreciate the time you put in to keeping us informed with new products. Thanks!
you said "please excuse the quality of the photography". you are the nicest man on planet earth
Dear Mark, your video’s and tutorials are the best. They give me inspiration over and over again (and have cost me money also😅) Thanks!
Thanks for doing this. Our Twitch-streaming Daughter went off to college and I (perhaps temporarily) inherited the LoupeDeck Live that I got her for Christmas last year. Great little bit of kit. Found the MSFS profile and have enjoyed it. Immediately thought ‘why aren’t more people talking about this use-case?’ Planning on a alpha/beta/touchscreen setup but in meantime this has been very helpful. The one main thing that I’m missing is being able to use the rotaries to control knobs (inner/outer) on the G1000. Thanks again. Well done.
I was lucky enough to get one for Christmas last year, after seeing this video and asking Santa nicely 😅 ... A year later and it's still my favorite Flight Sim hardware or software addon by far. Love it! Thanks again for this great review!!
Good on you Mark, always enjoy watching your video creations :)
Very nice. Did my own solution with an Arduino. But if someone doesn't want to build their own, this one is amazing.
I bought this a very long time ago with the idea it would be great for MS Flight. I have tried and tired. Could never get it to work. I am very excited to try what you had in the video. Thank you Mark.
Excellent video, thank you. I have ordered one!
This sounds awesome! Thanx for the information 👍
I was so waiting for this video
Fantastic review Mark, I’m totally sold. Thank you 🎉
Review on the smaller cousin .. Loupedeck S coming up soon!
Loupedeck ordered today. I have a feeling this video will get a lot of watches.
Thanks for the video! Sometimes i have to select the screen MSFS for the Loupedeck works good. I have 3 screens!
Wow....what a useful tool...Thanks for sharing...best regards from Brazil
Being a flight sim nerd has never been so fun. Thanks for the demonstration
@AmericaIsWorthIt nice - I started flight simulator 95.
Great great video - many thanks👍
I'm using streamdeck and the Behringer X-touch mini with AXIS AND OHS, amazing combination.
Thanks for the review, spending most of my time in vr now having bought an Aero. Regards J .
Enjoy 😊
Thanks for this video - this looks great. Pricey for me though. Maybe one day. :)
Excellent
Very cool
Thanks for the video. I was unaware of this product. I like the physical knobs, but you didn't mention using the buttons as analogue gauges. In my 24 button Streamdeck I have a gauge 4 buttons tall for AGL and another 4 for VS. Both handy for landings where the software is grading you. EG: Neofly. I know the dash has a VS gauge, but most don't have AGL. The VS gauge is EZer to see while you are watching the runway. Which button is active gives you a coarse idea of you VS, or proximity to the ground (AGL). I am giving each of your knobs credit for two buttons, as we are using two buttons for heading and 2 more for VOR1 course, 2 for altitude and more. I am sure I can find uses for all 6 knobs! As I already have the Streamdeck, (recommended to me by Arashona who also gave me most of my settings), this would be an add-on to that, and I _might_ just get it for the knobs. Our Bravos have one knob shared by 5 or 6 things to set. I use it for VS mostly. Atltitude is on the Streamdeck. We weren't able to find a way to set the G1000's map range though. I haven't searched lately, so maybe they have added that, or perhaps it was there already under an obscure name. Twiddling the on-sceen know while in the flying view is a real pain, as you mouse doesn't jounce in sync with the plane jouncing. (all is good when you select the zoomed in dash view). Arashona also gave me dual gauges for fuel, Aileron/rudder trim et al. And single gauges for other stuff like elevator trim. Also, most of my button settings too. I just added the stacks of four to what he gave me. I also recently added AOA 0 - 2 degrees and AOA 0 - 6 degrees. I think I may have found the AGL on my own... after he trained me. ;)
Thanks for the video Mark, very interesting and it looks great, but at over £300 with VR support I think I'll stick with Voice Attack.
There's also a cheaper version of this device called Live S: czcams.com/video/MPLahUndwKM/video.html&ab_channel=Loupedeck
Same, same. VoiceAttack is essential for VR Flying.
Easy to use product😁
Lol thanks for the brilliant video.
Greetings Shark
And thanks for your help ❤
Interesting but does seem a bit expensive. I'll take a look at this again if my bravo throttle quadrant crashes. Thanks for all of your videos!
I bought one, Loupedeck had a sale a few days after this video came out, managed to get one for £199.99
I love it, using default profiles at the mo, but will be using SPADnext to sort some out for my 737 600 soon
Bargain!
I make use of the MIDI output and SPAD.next to control the G1000 knobs, buttons etc.
Thanks Mark, you must have put a lot of time in to prepare this excellent review.
An interesting device but expensive especially in the current climate. When my Saitek switches and panels give up I may look at Loupdeck but for the present, thanks to SpadNext I can't see a need.
I have to agree..once my saiteks give up the ghost, i'd probably go the same way
Excellent as always. You might wish to 'gild the lily' by highlighting a little more the amazing flexibility of [button press] switching between workspaces, dial and touch pages. To the new user this incredibly useful flexibility is not initially evident. And it avoids spaghetti button collections. Just a thought... 😎
Hi Mark...thanks for your review. Have bought one. Will you make a video about using Loupedeck Life with Spad.next?
VR USERS NEGLECTED, as usual. It would be nice if VR developers would work with companies like LoupeDeck to make their devices VR-Friendly. For example, the LoupeDeck device could have some indexing LEDS or markers on each corner of the device that could be sensed by VR headsets which would have in-app software overlays that would draw a virtual LoupeDeck in VR so that the device could be located/used with VR headset on. I think these are missed opportunities all around. Granted, the LoupDeck is not a dedicated game controller, but there seems to be no practical reason why it cannot be tailored to do the job, and the fact that MSFS profiles and icon libraries exist should be a clue that a demand exists. Great review, as usual, Mark. Thanks!
With SpadNext (complete edition) you can get the Loupedeck to use voice, so when you press a button or turn a dial it tells you what action your doing.
@@SimHangerFS that’s helpful, for sure. It’s also helpful to have the tactile rotary knobs to give you a sense of where your hands are (in real world) when flying hooded. I use a 10-key style gaming controller and am able to find my controls pretty reliably most of the time using touch. Still, this is the year 2022 and augmented reality is a pretty well-know thing. We should be putting all this technology and knowledge to better use.
i am a guitarist and loopdecks are used for navigating our recording studio interfaces and i had this epiphany in the shower that this would be perfect for flight simulations / raced to google to see if i was the first with this idea / lol i love the internet
Thank you
Thank you very much for this brief introduction!
Is there any source, where I can download compete profiles for example for the Fenix A320 or PMDG 737 so that I don't need to invent the wheel again 😂
Great review and tutorial Mark! I'm a Streamdeck owner and this was still an instant purchase for me, thanks to those rotary dials! Arrives tomorrow :). Hey could I trouble you for a couple of things? Would you mind sharing your KAP140 profile? And can you tell me more about this Streamdeck bridge for MSFS?? Cheers!
Hi Nick, join the Simhanger discord and send me a personal message and I’ll drop the profile for you to download. Discord link in the notes below the video.
Greetings! Have you used this gizmo for setting up your camera views? If so, ist in complicated to do?
What are your views on the Loupedeck Live? Something your interested in? Let me know by dropping a comment below. Thanks for watching!
Great video as always mate......Interesting piece of hardware here...Just out interest, are you still using this currently?
Thank you for the great content and detailed explanation, probably the best FS VR chanel on youtube.
Do you use loopedeck live in VR. I am hesitating between the loupedeck and the streamdeck+ but I want to use it in VR as once trying FS in VR its very difficult to comeback to flat sreens.
Have a nice day
I have used it in VR, the buttons are a bit problematic however….keep using the wrong ones, and quite sensitive, great for 2D, cautious on value in VR, limited options unless you program it to use voice.
@@SimHangerFS I had a try of stream deck plus, its ok to use in VR buttons are fairly big the only problem is that FS handle badly the behaviour of the nobs, this can be corrected by SPAD but i heard that we need the cmplete version which is a bit expensive 😏
Thank you for a great review. I've been having some trouble adding custom keyboard shortcuts to the Loupedeck Calibex profile. I've created a duplicate profile. I've ensured that the active keyboard profile in MSFS 2020 has the same keykboard shortcut as the Loupedeck custom keyboard shortcut, but they don't work. The loupedeck does not even "buzz" when you press the shortcut. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!
Ok so for the reverse which I am really interested. I was wondering if it is possible to have the logitech pro joystick or other flight sim gear be used a midi controller in order to control hardware music gear such as the MPC one. I have seen many videos on using PlayStation controllers to control midi in software DAWs such as Ableton.
My imagination is running wild here haha. Any ideas?
I purchased the loupedeck and it is very very helpful. I hope somebody will make profiles using Spanish so that we can use the dials to control the G 1000 dials. Anybody heard of someone working on this?
Looks good, and is probably good value for money, given its versatility, if you're building a sim cockpit, but it's a bit steep for my pocket. Good informative video, though
Mark, have you taken a look at Elgato Stream Deck Plus? That is cheaper than LoupeDeck ans I was wondering if you have tried that one too.
Dear Mark, thanks for a great review. love your channel!
I was wondering if you can actually feel the physical gaps between the squares on the screen. (looking at the beginning of the video when the screen is off it seems that those gap exist, but it is not that clear). as a VR user would love to know... Thanks
Yes (there's a physical plastic grid that could assist in feeling your way to the proper button) HOWEVER, the "buttons" are actually super sensitive touch screen locations and as soon as you fumble your fingers across them (counting to get to the right one), you'll activate each along the way. In this sense, it's huge fail for VR.
I am trying to make the loupedeck work with DCS. How did you rename the keyboard ?
quick question, do you need the software to daily run it?, or can you run it as stand-a-lone, and swap from pc to mac?
Thanks for the nice video. Looks like a great product but a bit on the pricey side.
Hello and thank you for this great review and all your very interesting videos!
After watching it, I have bought a Loupedeck Live S (version with just 2 dials) and I'm trying to map the dials to the autopilot controls for the Flybywire A320 NX. The altitude dial works perfectly, but the airspeed (autothrottle) mapped to the other dial does nothing at all.
Could you please give me some advie on how to map the speed to a dial with the A320 NX?
Thank you very much!
The FBW doesn’t use default bindings. You would need to map these via a third party app such as SpadNext,
Great video Mark be nice to have this for the Xbox X I have the Turtle Beach velocity one, one of these mounted next to it would be great for us console pilots
There is something close to this- search for
AXAIR MIAP X-Box Controller 😀
@@SimHangerFS Thanks Mark, I'll have a look at that
hope your all good sir
In your video you mention Icon City MSFS Icons Package and you showed a few free icons available from the LoupDeck Marketplace.
I decide to purchase the full package that include 477 icons. The icons are great, but they do not include an install package and cannot be used until manually installed via a long tedious process.
In order to use them one must manually create 24 files and customize each for each of the 24 different directories which the icons come in based on their usage.
It's a very tedious and time consuming process to manually install them. So, I do not recommend this product for the the LoupeDeck until they create an install script/bat file.
I reached out to Icon City but they weren’t helpful at creating an install package. The only thing they did was add a comment that Additional Work would be required for it to work on LoupeDeck.
Hopefully in an upcoming review you can mention this problem.
Thanks for the feedback.
Hello Mark, thank you for this very good review. Just one question: Does the Loupedeck work on an USB Hub or has it to be connected direct to the PC:
Works great via USB hub. That’s how I use it 👍
Nice video, thanks. Between this and Loupedeck Live S, which would be better for MFS2020?
See Live S here czcams.com/video/gQ8TQDt2Eq4/video.htmlsi=nIiV4yW-KBstCJ55
Thanks for sharing. Is there a way to set up custom cameras on those buttons, or the ability to start MSFS replay recorder coming out with the 10 update? I would definitely us it as a a camera toggle!
Yes it can be configured for cameras with Spadnext and short cut keys.
Yes Yes I do want it but am not getting it just can't afford atm. Of Course another Good video Thank You and not heard from Huddison lately I do Hope he is well :)
James is fine as far as I know, all good.
I have all the Saitek panels and switches, along with the Stream Deck XL with the payware plugin. I really like the look of the Loupedeck, but don't know if I can justify it since I use the multi panel for autopilot functions. I am tempted because of the rotary encoders though. Great Video, I can hear my wallet goading me, LOL.
You should go ahead and get it and let me know how you handled the top usb-C port that pops right out of the top like a chimney.
@@dabneyoffermein595 I see what you mean mate. I think for my use case it would be okay though. As it stands I have my keyboard and Stream Deck XL on a swing mounted laptop stand, which sits under my second monitor, both to my left and fully repositionable. I watched the video again, and although the encoder is nice, I can't justify £250 when the Stream Deck covers most button functions I need to use.
@@Drewboo1968 -- Yea, i totally understand. This unit is called "The Razor" at Best Buy and is $269.99 (USD) which is priced out of anyone's range.
Thanks Mark for the explanation of LoupeDeck. I use the Elgato Stream Deck XL and feel having the knobs could be useful for a second controller. One question, I assume you cannot "display" data (sim variables) on the LoupeDeck buttons like you can on the Stream Deck. Is that correct?
Yes that is correct, no bridge has been created yet. To see sim connect variables you need to use SpadNext.
If you already have streamdeck then I'd recommend the Behringer X-touch mini to compliment it, great combination.
@@billB101 yes good combo.
@SimHanger Flight Simulation Mark, thank you for this video. How do you install the full purchase pack from Icon City? There isn’t a pack to install from when you purchase this. So do you have to browse each icon separately? Lastly, would you recommend the CT or the Live deck from Loupedeck for simming? I think I prefer the extra functionality of CT, but debating whether this may not actually add any functionality to FS?
Hi, the full pack doesn’t install. However you can just browse and select icon. I have never used the CT so am reluctant to say one way or the other, however I feel it is more orientated towards video editing.
@@SimHangerFS I really appreciate you taking the time to reply on this! Thank you so so much!!
Thanks for your video. One question, will it work with X-Plane 12/11? TIA
Yes, but you would need to use SpadNext to configure it.
I went out and bought one of these having seen your video. It is a great piece of kit! For some reason I cannot get any of my keyboard shortcuts to work. Have you seen this before? I have added the keyboard shortcut in the default MSFS profile, replacing buttons like Pitot Heat where I am happy to use the switch in the cockpit, but they have no effect in the sim.
Sounds like the profile is not the active one ?
@@SimHangerFS ah sorry, should have posted again. Yes it was active and the presets worked, just not the keyboard shortcuts, however I reinstalled the software and the sim recognised the keyboard shortcuts. Odd....but it fixed it lol
I prefer the Stream Deck via SPAD.next. No extra key bindings and stuff. And you can display real simconnect data.
Fair comment, this unit works with SpadNext too.
Hi Mark, Not sure if i saw it in the video, will the knobs also control FMS knob on the G1000 ?
Yes they can, but you'll need something like spadnext to configure it
Hi Mark very well explained, can you control views with loupedeck in MSFS 2020
I haven’t tried, but can’t see why not.
I've FINALLY managed to completely program the entire cockpit of the c172. It was worth it. Mixed with another little macro pad (Megladon DOIO - very inexpensive, highly recommend) and the Track IR, I am now taking entirely mouse and keyboard free flights. It's amazing. Did you manage to get around the limitation of the 16 channels of the knobs? I cant work out a way to program more than 16.
No I too am limited to 16
Megladon doesnt have icons projected on the keys -
opaque keys kinda of a deal breaker
Yeh, that one is just as a VR add on so the opaque doesnt matter cos I cant see it!@@marcw.5492
I attempted to do the same with Stream Decks. In some respects the Loupedeck looks like a better fit, mainly because of feedback of information and of course the rotary. Simulating rotaries with buttons is a terrible idea, but what do you do on a Streamdeck? I'm curious as to how profiles work on the Loupedeck, as I use these instead of folders on the SD to avoid page hierarchies. Very helpful demo - I'll look into acquiring one. Thank you
The new stream deck now has rotaries !
Thanks - yes must've realised they were missing a trick I suppose. I just ordered a Loupedeck with 6 rotaries. I don't much care for the appearance of the Elgato version.
Thanks for your review. Looks impressive but seems to me like it only adds an unnecessary/overkill gadget to flight sim. Seems to me closer "realism" is already available in the cockpit via mouse. If one prefers to physically touch a control, a standard keyboard can be mapped to most controls. What am I missing?
Depends on your set up and expectations I guess. Different folk different needs.
A quick comment regarding the cable length. My Loupedeck arrived today, and the cable is 2 metres long - more than adequate for my set-up. Mark, was your cable shorter ?
2m would be perfect, mine is about 1.1m
@@SimHangerFS Ah, okay, they must have had a few people contact them about it. As you've inspired at least three sales that I know of, they should send you a long replacement one. ;) Keep up the good work.
Touch Portal is much cheaper, only £12 in app purchase. Really useful piece of kit for us Simmers and you can program ANYTHING
Looks awesome ,,, Does this work with X-Plane 12 ?
Yes you could but only via SpadNext.
Can anyone comment on the Razer branded Stream Controller? Just discovered it at Best Buy. I think the Razer might not have the software support/capabilities that the Loupedeck has?
Hmm. There must be a way to replicate the functionality of this device on an iPad (which I'm currently using as a second screen). Any ideas?
You've just cost me £225 lol
Definitely getting one of these for myself, Early Christmas present I think
Just snapped one up as Amazon had them at £30 off
Should be here Sunday
You set 29.92in... if you were flying in the UK we use Hectopascal's (hPa).
Very informative video, nice job 👍
Thanks, the Hpa setting was shown in text at the bottom….😊
Hi Mark. Can you test this on the Fenix? I can’t get the rotary dials to work with the AP. Actually the rotary dials don’t work on most of the airliners. They work fine on ga aircraft. Thanks
Fenix use bespoke simconnect commands, (as do PMDG) you would need to configure via SpadNext I believe.
Ok that’s what I was afraid of… Guess I’ll have to wait for a tutorial. The rest of the functions work fine. Thanks for the fast response. Your videos have helped immensely.
how do you remember what’s what in VR?
Mark, another cracking Video and my bank manger is starting to love you, as i keep buying the stuff you feature LOL! Mark do you know or does anyone know if anyone got this device to work with the FBW (Or Fenix) A320? (Or will settle for the PMDG 737) or can point me in the right direction to download a Loupedeck profile for that aircraft in MSFS2020? As you can imagine I am mainly a Airline simmer in MSFS 2020, got it working for GS, but would dearly love to have a profile for the A320 (Or 737).
Thanks again Mark, and hoping your next Flight Simmer 'MUST HAVE Gadget' is a few months away to allow me to save up LOL!
I am not aware of anyone having done one yet.
For now I experimented with SPAD neXt and configured the Loopdeck Live as a MIDI device for SPAD neXt. I was able to configure the FCU of the FBW A320neo on the Loopdeck Live as that was what I needed most. I bet you can configure the whole Airbus Cockpit into the Loopdeck Live.
@@18hourgaming66 wow…that is amazing 👍 you should share your profile!
@@18hourgaming66 I would dearly love to try your Profile for the A320, even if it half completed. I have no idea where or how to start, but if i had a profile that was under build i could try to build on that. If you could contact me I would be very willing to work with you to get something going. It would be Unique as Mark said above, there is nothing out there at the moment.
@@richardswede It is mostly configuring SPAD neXt after you configure the Loupedeck buttons and dials as MIDI divice buttons and dials (see the last part of this video for configuring Loopdeck as MIDI device). Its kind of easy once you get the hang of it. I'll try to make a video.
The Behringer X-TOUCH MINI has two more rotary switches and costs less then 1/4.... Maybe it's worth to make a video about it....
I use the X-TOUCH MINI with streamdeck, perfect combo.
The Loupedeck has six physical rotaries at a time - you could have different modes that switch those six to control something else, they are not fixed.
I guess you couldn’t use this in VR very good or just use VoiceAttack in VR.
You can, advanced features include sound and voice so it can tell you what key/action you pressed!
Can this be used for the buttons for a nxi g1000.?
Yes sir, via SpadNext
I purchased the loop deck and it is very very helpful. I hope somebody will make profiles using Spanish so that we can use the dials to control the G 1000 dials. Anybody heard of someone working on this?
I will be showing how to set up midi for SpadNext…and a few examples of how to configure etc. video coming as soon as I can find the time
Hi Mark. Can we move windows like Garmin or MFD to this display
No you can’t, the unit is buttons and dials, capable to display icons. You can of course, using something like SpadNext to program it to operate as a GPS…buttons and dials only.
What you can do is use right-alt and click on the display screen to pop it out and move it to a dedicated monitor - I have one that rests on the desktop above my yoke that will show the PFD and MFD or perhaps the GTN 750 screen etc, You can then use that in conjunction with an external device like this
Mark...I accidentally deleted all my files saved for new thrustnaster one for xbox s. I reprogrammed it but it won't recognise it! What happened lol???? I may have deleted the original default setup
Suggest uninstall TM drivers completely…restart …attach TM…MSFS should start up with default config.
Hi Mark, thanks for this Video, after I bought my and got it yesterday. I also download SPADneXt trial, but I cant find the LOUPEDECK in there. What I do wrong?
Another question can I use also airliners, like Fenix and PMDG 737... with Loupedeck, and how I can use the knobs to use HDG, ALT, etc.. Maybe you can help.
Thanks again for your Video
For SpadNext to see the unit you need to set the dials and buttons in the Loupedeck software as midi outputs. Set different notes to each button and dial. For dials use CCset. You can configure the Loupedeck in SpadNext for whatever you want.
@@SimHangerFS Thanks Mark, but I cant see the Loupedeck in SPADnext, there is just show my TCA, T A320, T-Rudder and Trust Gamepad. In your Video I see the Loupedeck Live .
@@SimHangerFS Thanks I found it
Hi Mark, I have another problem, after I have the LOUPEDECK installed and I open it there is nthing as a white page , with no buttons as shown in your video. You have buttons, any suggestion for me?
@@wdoormann make sure you have downloaded the app for the Loupedeck live…suggest uninstall and reinstall
Anyone set this up to use with the 530 Garmin?
I am confused 🤨. After all of the efforts by the aircraft developers to make the simming 'as real as it gets', Loupedeck appears to be trying to duplicate the cockpit functions unnecessarily and not in a cockpit-real style. What am I missing ❓
This is designed by a company for other things in mind... he's just simply saying that you can map it out and use it as a peripheral, but that's not what the company designed it for.
If they were all dual rotaries it would be damn near perfect.
whats a dual rortary?
Does Loupedeck work with XBox aeries x?
Unfortunately not.
does it work through Apple Mac + Xbox ?
Apple Mac…yes…Xbox….not yet.
@@SimHangerFS There is one that will work for xbox though if you're interested. Same idea, different company.
@@Foxtrot_EW yes I know. 👍
Does anyone provide a more expansive payware plugin for MSFS 2020. One that will control both comm and Nav frequencies. IMHO that would be extremely attractive. At 79 I don't have enough IQ Cycles left to do this myself. Anyone can point me in the right direction?
I think we all are expecting exactly what you say.
Loupedeck or the new Streamdeck with knobs ?
Things are heating up big time in this market! 👍
Bought the loupedeck and am running vkb sim joystick and Virgil mongoose throttle once I plug loupedeck on I loose my throttle
I have no idea why that would be the case. It is simply another usb device. Via device manager check usb power management is not activated. Load an empty profile on Loupedeck to see if conflict remains.
@@SimHangerFS you were right it was a power issue thank you for the help
How come it works without the Arm button ?
Subject to how it is configured. The arm assignment in MSFS is not fully functional in my experience.
Hello. Does this work on the xbox x Flightsim too?
Unfortunately not.
@@SimHangerFS my luck again 🙂
….piece of cake…..
I’ll wait for a version 2 because I think they missed a key opportunity: had they used dual rotary encoders instead of single encoders there would be a lot more hardware you could emulate. For both VR and non-VR users dials are frustrating to use with the mouse. That is even more so for dual encoders such as found on GPS units. This could have resolved much of that. Maybe they’ll consider that in an updated/expanded version.
You can emulate dual rotary, using the button on the dial to change etc.
