     @züleyha ceylan regardless of any potential joke or insults, I am not sure I agree as there are several flaws in your argument. If I remember correctly, there are at least 3 types of bilingualism, depending on a) time of language acquisition and b) proficiency and competency. Beside, based on the dictionary you cite, when "childhood" ends, i.e., what is the time benchmark of a chance to be truly bilingual?
    Given the language acquisition is a life-long process, essentially, most of it happening prior the age of 6? (happy to provide references but as this is a general chat...;-)...)
    So regardless whether the comment was funny, I am not quite sure you have an argument here. Apologies if I am wrong!

      @@MultiKarola what a stupid comment,check the dictionary,bilingual means growing up with two mother tongues at the same level, her English is so good that's why I asked, people who learn a language after childhood and speak two languages are not called bilinguals. You thought you were funny but you are not.

      @pinkkangaroo Před 3 lety +1

      @@zceylan wrong, you are considered being bilingual if you are able to use two languages fluently. You don't have to be born into a family with two mother tongues, you can master other language later in life. Source: Cambridge Dictionary.
