  • In this video I replace front brake pads and discs to 2016 Renault Kadjar. Kadjar shares platform with Nissan Qashqai so the procedure is almost identical in that car.

    You worked like a pro. There are few car mechanics who work so well. Congratulations!

    A great moment of car mechanics. 5/5 !! I have never seen this done at the best garage... To get such a great service, you have to do it yourself ! Thanks for sharing. The list of the different products used (copper paste, ceramic paste...) would be a plus... On my side, I add : for my Kadjar, the minimum thickness of the front brake discs is 24 mm.

    I think you and i could be good friends by just seeing how you work with your car. The effort for all the details! 5/5! :-)

    One big mistake is that you didn't put the springs behind the brake pads, they should help push the brake pad back away from the brake disc.

    Serge

    That little clip which fixes to the edge of the pad which is only on the back pad. Should it go at the top or bottom. I see you fixed it to the bottom but on mine it was at the top of the pad. Thank you.

    Did you release the electric handbrake before you started this job?

    • @hartpower
      @hartpower  Před 3 lety +2

      I did both the front and the rear at the same time so yes I did release it. If you are going to do the front only it is not needed to release handbrake.

    Great job! I also plan to do mine. Do you know the torque ratings for the brake caliper bolts. I see you use anti sieze copper grease for pads and another anti-squeak white grease. What grease is the white one? What brands are the break discs?

    • @hartpower
      @hartpower  Před 3 lety +2

      Thanks! Unfortunately i don’t have torque specs but it is about 90-100 Nm as in most cars. The white grease is Crc ceramic paste. Discs are from Vector, it is basic aftermarket brand which is sold by Motonet in Finland.

    the most important thing about a brake service is to clean and re grease the sliders on the carriers, this guy missed them totally. nice clean job though.

      Good point, I actually checked those pins and added some grease. Unfortunately forgot to film it😅

    at what point did you bleed the brakes?

    • @hartpower
      @hartpower  Před měsícem

      It was not necessary to bleed brakes because no hoses were disconnected

  • @emil9208
    @emil9208 Před rokem

    What is that orange stuff and is it absolutely necessary?

    • @hartpower
      @hartpower  Před rokem

      It is copper paste, it prevents seizing and helps pads to move more freely. If you don’t have it no problem, it is not mandatory

  • @rehab2007
    @rehab2007 Před 2 lety

    If i didn’t find copper grease can i use any thermal lithium grease ?

    • @hartpower
      @hartpower  Před 2 lety

      I wouldn’t recommend because it could trickle to friction surfaces and cause problems

    Is there only one screw holding the disc?

    • @frickers1000
      @frickers1000 Před 2 lety

      There is only one holding screw although there are two holes in both hub and disc. The unused hole in the hub does not have a thread though so to use it you have to use a tapping bit of the correct size to put a thread in it (takes 2 mins). I ended up needing this when I replaced my front discs as the holding screw was so tight that the head was stripped trying to remove it. So it had to be drilled out. I then bought a new screw (£3.50 Renault or 50p from breakers yard) and used the other mounting hole instead. Job done. Just make sure that there is nothing of the old screw sticking proud of the hub. By the way, be prepared for a fight to get the old hub off! I needed heat, some big hammers and a lot of patience. If you can get something in the slot between the two disc faces (the vents) it helps as you can apply a twisting motion- provided that the car is in gear to lock the wheel.

      Brake caliper was resting on it so that is why I did not remove it, I know it is blocking access ;)
