  • In this video I replace rear brake pads and discs to 2016 Renault Kadjar. Kadjar shares platform with Nissan Qashqai so the procedure is almost identical in that car.

    Thanks for the video. It was really useful. I used it to help me replace the pads on the rear of a 2016 Kadjar. I was a bit worried about the EPB problem but taking note of this video and a couple of similar ones I went for the option of turning off the parking brake with engine on then stopping the engine with the "brake off" button still pressed. That way the parking brake is not applied and you are able to remove the calliper ok. I then disconnected the power cord to the motor so that the EPB could not be reapplied. I wasn't confident about putting power into the motor with an external source- as some have suggested - so went for the method shown here of taking the motor off and rewinding it manually. To be honest it isn't that much more work than putting power across the motor and you don't have to worry about frying the motor. I didn't have a torx bit big enough so found a socket adaptor that fit in the hole well enough to wind the EPB part of the piston back. (It takes very little effort to wind it back so a good fit isn't critical). I then pushed the main piston back with a screw clamp. When it all went back together, as shown, the EPB resets and recalibrates itself just by pulling the EPB button. It can take a couple of extra seconds but it worked perfectly.

    Use a torque wrench, not a power bar to tighten all the bolts, plus use thread lock.
    Except on wheel nuts..
    Power bar in wrong hands will break bolts..

    Computer is not needed to do the brakes. All you need is a 12v source and connect to the motor to unwind it (it will stop if fully compressed against the pads). You need to hold it on the motor for about 10 seconds or so. Then press back piston as you would with a front brake caliper. Easy 😁 PS thanks for the video!

    Just had my rear pads replaced on my kadjar with my local garage. But for some reason the electronic handbrake won't engage and there is a fault on the diagnostic computer have you heard of this problem? Thanks in advance

      Hard to say but it sounds like there might be losen connector. Connector has to click in and it requires quite a lot of force to push (at least in my case). But as local garage did yours, it might me worth asking them to fix it.

    • @hartpower
      @hartpower  Před 3 lety

      It is copper grease, helps the pads to move freely on caliper.

    • @hartpower
      @hartpower  Před 2 lety

      No, it wasn't necessary because I used torx to loosen the electric handbrake. After everything is done, handbrake will adjust automatically when you pull it long enough.

    Hello
    which method you use does not create a fault on the dashboard for the parking brake?
    thank you again for this video

    • @hartpower
      @hartpower  Před 3 lety +4

      Well I did not use anything, because the parking brake motor will automatically adjust its position. In the video I just used hex key to loosen the parking brake mechanism to be able to fit new thicker pads. After the replacement is done just pull the parking brake button for a while until its stops. After that test the brakes in a hill to ensure they are working. Hope this helps
