    I just bought a 2021 ES250 and my sales rep provided me with the link to your tutorial. He used to be the automation specialist at his dealership before moving up into sales so he knows his stuff. I am hoping your tutorial will get me to the few things i am interested in understanding how to operate.,especially the overall 12.3 inch infotainments screens etc. This is my 3r ES over the past 30 years and my initial impressions are that it is as spectacular as i expected, if i can figure out all the gizmos! Thank you for this effort.

    Hello from Pebble Beach, CA
    Thank you for the excellent tutorial. What a great resource! My wife and I bought a Lexus ES350 Luxury this week and found your video. We’ve both watched it completely through and I’ve used the index to refer to specific topics a number of times. You organized and explained the wealth of information in a way that will make this video an ongoing resource for new owners. This is the video Lexus corporate should have made and I recommended it to our local dealership.
    You reflect the true Lexus spirit and your dealership is lucky to have you. Much appreciated.

      Just curious why you purchased a car with such uncomfortable seats? I have the same model as you, only one year newer. Personally, I love the fit and finish on the seats. I don't like the lumber set to hard, that's not comfortable, but I just hit the button and BAM, totally comfortable again.

    It is the best tutorial how to use the new car, I think at the end, turning everything ON, automatic climate control and use voice control, then just drive and enjoy. Regularly check message alert for service, check fuel, heat, tire pressures, safe driving rules, wash your car weekly, clean your car daily, park in the garage, no trip to shopping centers, will be fine for a long, long time. Oh! it is so elegant however I wish the LS/ES size is made smaller and a bit higher fit with V6hybrid or V8hybrid and AWD.

      Hi John! So glad you like the videos and are enjoying the channel. If you are seeing Red and Yellow on the Map screen, that should be the NAV Traffic information that is provided through the HD radio signal. Green: moving well, Yellow: slow traffic, Red: heavy traffic, often bumper to bumper. Does that sound like what you're seeing? If you would like to have a passenger take a picture of your screen when you see it, feel free to email me and I can look into it more for you. Please don't take a picture of it if you are driving. 15:25 - Not sure if you knew, but recently discovered you can “associate” each key with a particular seat/mirror setting by simultaneously holding the number you wish to associate (1, 2, or 3) and the unlock button for 2 seconds. You must have only one key nearby for this process. That way, the car will recognize my wife’s vs my own key and adjust automatically depending on who enters the vehicle.

    I own a 2021 ES and watched the video tutorial which is great. • @NorthsideLexus
      @NorthsideLexus  Před 3 lety

      Hi Ralph! Thanks for watching! It's tricky when you see the Range for a brand new vehicle, because it is only averaging based on a very few miles on the odometer. There are also learning mechanisms in the powertrain (it learns your octane rating, driving styles, etc.) and that impacts the fuel Range too. The range that shows on the first tank will not usually ever be duplicated as the averages become more realistic. Also, if you change fuel octanes (like going from Premium to Mid-Grade, etc.) it will take it three full tanks to make the adjustments. I hope this helps!

      Hi! I would check your Dynamic Navigation subscription in your Lexus app first. The 2021 ES uses a type of NAV called Dynamic Navigation. It's not quite cloud based nav, because it still has data on a Micro SD memory card, but it uses cloud-based overlays and connects to the DCM for time zone and state line changes. First see if you need to renew your services and if that doesn't solve it, have your service team check it out for you. Thanks for tuning in!

Some required a paid hotspot that the customer had to have, others are free, but lag whatever connection they are using to move the data is not very robust. Hopefully this will mean that Lexus has figured out the issues before bringing it to market. The first Lexus with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will be the 2022 NX coming later this fall. The UX is a small sport utility and the IS is a small sport sedan. The ES is designed to be a junior to the flagship LS. Hi Larry. I sure wish I had a crystal ball for that. Since the technology doesn't exist yet for the vehicles, it is not possible for me to guess if Lexus would release a retrofit update. In my 22 years with Lexus, I can tell you that there has only been a retrofit update for Apple CarPlay in the US and Android Auto in some other countries. Frequently when they make changes to technology they change hardware and software and retrofit updates are not compatible. That's the issue with not being able to do the Android Auto update in the US, for example. If they have to update hardware, they don't do it. What you'll typically see, is a model redesign that would introduce new tech, etc.

      Hi Mimi, The ES does not have that feature yet. It requires a different electrical setup that is being introduced on some other models beginning in 2022. Currently the 2022 NX is the first to have it. We should start seeing more of that capability as the models receive updates and changes. Hope this helps!

    My 2020 ES 350 NAV volume is too low. How do I raise its volume ? - I usually have music playing, so if I raise the volume to hear the NAV, it also blasts the music...
    Is there a NAV preference just for its volume? - Most vehicles 'save' the NAV volume if you turn the hard-knob volume DURING a command...

    • @NorthsideLexus
      @NorthsideLexus  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi y2ktube! All of the voice volumes are separate. Here are some tip that will hopefully get your settings more to your linking:
      1. for NAV: Menu - Setup - Voice - Voice Volume (This will adjust the NAV volume and other Voice command volume)
      2. The volume will save for each audio source (AM, FM, SAT) and will go back to the last selected volume for that source when you change sources.
      3. Any app, including NAVi apps, will have their own volumes and they are first adjusted form your phone. Get the app content playing, then turn the volume all the way up on your phone, then adjust it on the car.
      4. There are other volume and voice volume customizations you can play with in the settings that I mentioned before, but I recommend making the other changes first. Then explore: Menu - Setup - Voice and look through the other customizations.
      There is a lot more information about all of this in the NAV Owner's Manual as well and it can be found in pdf format on lexusdrivers.com at: drivers.lexus.com/t3Portal/document/omnav-s/OM06175U/pdf/OM06175U.pdf I hope this helps to answer your questions.

    How do you get the navigation system to talk ONLY when you are going to a specific location? My Nav operates all the time the motor is on even though i dont need to use it. I cant find out where to silence it when i am not going to a targeted direction.

    • @NorthsideLexus

      The NAV should only talk when you have a destination programmed in. If you mapping system is continuing to give you directions, then you need to clear what ever route is still there. On a 2021 ES, look for Dest. on the map screen, then Del. Dest. to delete destinations. Thanks for checking in!

    IS 350 or RC 350 or ES 350 which would be better?

    • @NorthsideLexus
      @NorthsideLexus  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Christina! Thanks for being here. SUCH a great question. They are all amazing, but very different vehicles. Here are some things to consider:
      - IS & RC are sports luxury vehicles with sport tuned suspension systems, sportier seats and a tighter more "cock pit" style front seat area. They will both have a zippy sporty drive feel.
      - The RC is a coup so if you need the back seat a lot, or big trunk space. I would look at a 4-door (IS or ES).
      - The ES is more of a family luxury sedan. Very open and spacious interior. Designed to be a junior version of our flagship LS vehicle. Lots of trunk room, soft quiet luxury drive feel.
      - The ES uses regular fuel. The IS and RC will require premium fuel.
      - Pricing varies depending on the powertrain and package you select.
      - Whichever you choose go with 2021 or newer to get the latest technology and connected services. If you are shopping pre-owned and want Apple Car Play/Android Auto make sure it is listed on the window sticker. There is not retrofit for Android Auto in the US. The IS older models are not compatible for the Apple CarPlay Retrofit in the US. The RC and ES are compatible for the Apple CarPlay retrofit in the US, but only certain year models.
      - See if you can test drive them back to back and make notes after each drive. Take a picture of the window sticker for each one so you can go over all of the equipment. It can all start to blend together when you're car shopping and you want to make sure your final decision has all of the features you want. I have seen a number of people who thought a feature was standard, only to realize it was part of a package they didn't select. Not fun. You want to be confident in your choice and informed about the equipment.
      I hope this helps! They are all amazing so you can't go wrong. Chose the one that works best for your lifestyle, budget and the one that makes you smile when you're behind the wheel! Happy shopping!

      @NorthsideLexus  Před 3 lety

      Hi @Jeff. I haven't gotten to drive the AWD version yet. We don't get a lot of AWD in my area. I think they added the option, because so many consumers ask for AWD even if they live in an area that doesn't need it. What I like most about the ES is that it is really designed to be a junior version of the LS Flagship vehicle. You get a ton of safety and technology with lots of room for a family and a very large trunk for cargo. The only thing that bugs me is the USB location for Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. I don't mind that the phone is plugged in, and I like the phone holder slot at the front, but I don't like that the cord can be a bit all over the place. A small complaint, for sure. What did you not like about the AWD?

      Hi @Ayman. The ES is a great family car. The back seat legroom is very generous and the trunk is a great size for cargo. On the other vehicles where Lexus has Rear controls, there is usually a "Rear" soft button the the menu for that item on the main screen at the front. 1. Definitely customize the Touchpad so it doesn't give the "feedback force" pops under your fingers. That can get annoying. Menu - Setup - Feedback Force - Take that down to zero or Off.
      2. You could also consider making other adjustments like slowing down the cursor speed if you want as well.
