That sumbich looks real good!
truly was
🤣👍
LOL!! For 30yrs, every time we'd go to the breakroom at work, someone would purposely ask me what I was getting out of the sandwich machine, cause they always knew I was gonna say, "A Dirty Diablo sammich". I always added the word "Dirty" cause it came out of those machines. 🤣
😂😂😂
😂
There's no way, *no* way, that you came from *my* loins
"Put the evidence in the back"
That was filmed in an Old Hickory House. The Diablo Sandwich would have been shredded hickory smoked pork in a hot BBQ sauce. There is only one Hickory House left in Tucker, Georgia. You can get the Diablo Sandwich there. “Do they got any hush puppies, daddy? Junior 😊
Sure was. With or without peppers. I feel old.
Also, after watching this, this is a recipe not like the old house. Plain pork sammich, spicy sauce, pulled pork, old school bun, and regular jalps was an option. Zero olive oil, just a good ole greasy pork sammich, and with sauce on or off and peppers were an Xtra. Plus I don't remember pepper jack cheese. And my old butt ate this in the 70s. As what year were the cars? And especially the trans am?? Last year of that engine and mine has only 42k miles on her. The last factory year of that bad a$$ big block. 😎. I also have the movies in beta , VHS, and discs. Sorry big guy , but this ain't the sammich. Olive oil and dehydrated Mexican peppers 😂😂😂. I'm sure it's good though! I'm that Ole man that seeks a good "truck stop burger" at the " Choke and Puke" 😁10-4!
We ain't got time for that shit!

I worked at the Old Hickory House off of North lake Parkway in the 1980's and 1990's and one night Burt Reynolds showed up randomly with his Entourage and ordered a Bunch of BBQ to go. He was really nice and Tipped Well. Great Guy!
Im going bye what a Teamster driver who worked on the film told me back in the 80s
I Subscribed. Years ago I worked at Old Hickory House and Burt Reynolds showed up out of the blue with his Entourage and ordered a Bunch of BBQ to go. He was very nice and Tipped Well.
I worked in Hollywood in the 80s and 90s worked with Arnold, Sly, Cage, Robert Downey Jr, Joe Pecci, Belushi just to name a few BUT I always wanted to work with Burt and never got the chance.
@@BuzzCooks I only saw him very briefly that one time. But I was very impressed that even though he was famous he seemed like he was very respectful and the fame didn't go to his head. And strangely enough I met someone on the bus in North Carolina a couple years ago that told me he had a friend that worked with him and they had a Corvette that needed some work on it and one day it went missing. Well Burt had towed it taken it to the shop and paid for all the work that needed to be done on it.
@@markmower6507 so cool, btw if you can find it a great documentary on CMT called The Bandit about Burts life and his relationship with Hal Needham
Didn’t expect less. He was a class act man.
Good thing none of y'all were married to him huh.
The Diablo sandwich east of the Mississippi is bootleggin'. 😆 Thanks for the recipe, great video.
thanks for watching
You need to make this video fast, cause I'm in a GD hurry.
With a Dr. Pepper
Yeeeees!!! 😂😂
Fuggin classic🤣🤣🤣
Lol

Rest in Peace, Smokey and the Bandit
I LOVED that movie! I like Burt, I like Jackie, I like Sally, I like Jerry; heck, I even like FRED (the dog) !!
I worked with Sally on a film called Soap Dish what a classy lady
Who doesn’t like a hound doggy?
I grew up in Palm Beach County FL. Burt was a local icon. I was attending Palm Beach Junior College when Smokey and the Bandit hit the theaters. It would be difficult to over state the impact of the movie for the area. Burt and Sally were frequently seen around town. Everyone had a CB in their car/truck. So many great memories!
I'll have to give this a try!
I never got a chance to work with Burt, But I did work with Sally on a film called Soap Dish. Very nice lady
Any movie Burt was in he made it a point to film somewhere in Florida. He was a great ambassador for Florida.
🤩👍😎💯
We saw him quite often in Delray when I was in high school
@@boatlover2296 High school in Delray? How about that, I attended Atlantic High school. Class of 75.
And don't go home, and don't go to eat, and don't play with yourself. It wouldn't look nice on my highway.
Oh, you can think about it, but just...don't... do it.
He gone let's go....
You do what you want..Im stayn right here.
" It wouldn't look good on my highway. You can think about it, but don't do it."
"You punks look tuckered out too"
Hanahahahahahahahahahaha.
Love that line!!!
" we got no time for that crap"
"YOU WANT SOMETHING!!! ?"
"Hush puppies Daddy "
My dad loved this film. We saw it while we were on a multi state driving family vacation.
My sister called our Tomcat Bandit i think this movie was the reason!
He made that sandwich look so good
My family and I loved all of Burt Reynold's movies growing up. We even loved the out-takes with Dom DeLuise.
Gunna take those bleeds and shove them up your nose. These bleeds? Those bleeds! 😂
What a classic movie! Thanks man!
You chasin’ somebody, somebody chasin’ you!.. NOBODY chasin’ me boy! 😂😂😂😂
This sammich is the topic of discussion when the movie comes up. The catering truck would probably doctor it up like that for the movie people but the movie looks like plain meat with sauce and bun. I’m giving it a try. Thanks for sharing 👍
Think North Carolina pulled pork bbq. Kent Rollins gets this one right.
"Look daddy an alligator "
"That reminds me, I gotta call your momma"
No way you came from my loins lol
Love this movie.. Still watch All 3 of them occasionally..
cool recipes as well..
a Mexican twist on a pot roast sandwich. I love it!
That definitely looks delicious. Awesome video too. Thanks for sharing the recipe.
"Thank ya, nice lady."😂
Wwhoo....
Nice Ass...
This sandwich looks soooo good. Mouth wouldn't stop watering the whole time I watched you making it. 😋
you need to make it, thanks for watching
@@BuzzCooks I'll definitely try
Love that movie! Jackie Gleason! 😂 best part of it!
Get a sharp knife!
Thank YOU so much for explaining AND showing us what it is suppose to look like and how to do the recipe AWESOME 👍
So Cowboy Kent got it it pretty close without the actual recipe? WOW! Interesting. This definitely has a birra on a roll feel to it. It looks amazing.
yea, I never heard of Birria until the crew member told me about it. the sauce is so good.
Yes but no one danced in this video.
Thankyou friend...I always wondered what the sandwich was , but now I can make 😮❤
Thanks for sharing it with us.
The sammy looks delicious 😋
Thanks for watching
So it's birria on a bun. I'd eat that.
I was thinking the same thing
Called a torta 😂😂
Really, minus the cooking broth
I don’t care if this sandwich is real or not , but this recipe looks incredible!
thank you
Thanks for sharing the recipe, Sir - it was most thoughtful of you. God bless.
thank you for watching
Absolutely one of my favorite movies and I never thought to look up what a Diablo sandwich was!
I’ve always had the Diablo as almost a sloppy Joe but a little more spicy and it had canned corn in it for sweetness. I don’t think they had all this in Alabama in the 70s🤷♂️. The one in the film looks like the one’s we always had 🤷♂️
I'm going to try this! Thanks for sourcing the original recipe! I love that movie and I bet it tastes great!
That looks so good I’m gonna try that out one day thank you buddy that is one of my favorite movies of all time god bless
Great Movie, Fantastic Sandwich!!
Thanks for sharing this. Huge fan of the movie
"The Dad Gum Germans got nothing to do with it!"
Greetings from the UK, i love smokey and the bandit, unfortunately can't get a diablo here 😢 or sloppy joes😢 looks absolutely fantastic, truck stops are a rarity here, more's the pity
No sloppy joes ??
You should be able to Make your own sloppy Joe's, you should easily get these ingredients to make your own sloppy Joe's sauce: tomato puree, ketchup, brown sugar, chili powder. Add 🧂 salt. ( you can aquire those items at a ASDA or cosco right?) Cook the pound of ground beef separately from the home made sloppy joe sauce. Chop it up extremely fine. Then mix cooked meat into cooking hot sloppy Joe's sauce. Stir. Serve on hamburger buns. Injoy.
Why don't these guys ever use a sharp knife?
was already into the video, no worries it is now Sharpe as a. Razor lol
Sharp knives are banned under international law.
I reconstitute dried chilis in boiling hot apple juice, let cool till room temperature and then blend them in the ninja. Makes a great base for BBQ sauce too.
Excellent uploaded my friend! I’m going to check out more! 👍🏻
awesome thank you
Jackie Gleason. So good at what he did.
Ohhhhh I bet that's really good. Thx Buzz
This still looks like a great sandwich. Not sure I would strain that sauce so much. I’d also add a lot more of that wonderful looking sauce to the mix. Thanks for the video.
I always heard that the diablo sandwich was basically a sloppy joe with corn in it.
Thanks for sharing!!
One word, "ooooffff!!!!!"
Sounds awesome gonna have to try the recipe
This looks AWESOME awesomely delicious 👌👍 I would love to try making this myself. Great work Buzz. Jackie Gleason and Burt Reynolds are 2 of my favourite idols growing up as a kid Smoky and the Bandit was my favourite movie along of course with The Dukes of Hazzard TV show.👍💪 I'm subscribed.
thank you
Looks really good!
I always assumed it was a sloppy joe sandwich, very cool video. I lived in Meyersville TX for 13 years and I got very good at BBQ!
I think iam gonna toast my bun👍🏻, that looks so good I can't wait to make it ,, I think iam making it this weekend, thanks for the recipe👍🏻💯💯💯❤️
thanks for watching and hope you stick around for more
Great looking sauce. It really came together when you added the adobes
so good
Had an awesome BBQ sandwich years ago in East Texas somewhere south of Waco. I was 12 and my dad took the family to track down an old family grave site in an old cemetery with graves from around 1890s. The eatin' place looked like an old weathered wooden barn connected to a 50's style renovated gas station. The sandwich was shredded Pork, shredded brisket, and diced jalapeno kielbasa, they covered a toasted hoagie bun and topped it with two slices of pepperjack. the top roll had a brown mustard and two homemade pickle planks along with a bunch of hot jalapeno slices. They were wrapped in with wax paper and let the hot meat melt the cheese. Sweet tea and potato salad. I still think about that place 20 years later. I asked a friend about the place and he said it burned to the ground one evening after closing. We managed to find the cemetery and took pictures of the gravestones. We found sites where the Richardson's and Odell's were buried.
"There's only two things I'm a-scared of ... women and the poe-lice." --the Bandit (Burt)
That quote is actually from the movie White Lightning another great Burt Reynolds movie.
@@dertrommler2112beat me to it lol
Ned Beatty was another good actor
Does this guy ever sharpen his knives??????????????
My mouth is watering!
I want Jackie Gleason to testify to this sandwich . I watched the original movie.
I always figured it was pulled pork, with BBQ and some kind of hot sauce. I always did BBQ pulled pork and Chipotle Tabasco.
Usually I hate CZcams ads in search results, but this is a great vid
thank you
Thanks for the recipe.
Looks awesome! Can't wait to try it!
thanks for watching
Great recipe, always wondered about this sandwich. Also I wanted to say please do not lock down the crockpot while it's in use and cooking, it's only for transporting, and this comes from the makers of crock pot.
Thanks for this! I always imagined the Diablo sandwich was ground beef mixed with Old El Paso Taco Seasoning Mix; instead of into a taco shell it goes on a bun..
Sweet, I'm gonna need to make this also
I am East Bound and Down, you hosers, that is a big 10-4.
That sandwich looks delicious. It also looks like it'd give you the runs. 😂
Thank ya kind sir;-}
My dad took me and one of my older brothers when i was probably about 9. The theater was packed. And it was in the middle of the week. I bet ive watched that movie at least 30 times
if you can find it CMT put a Documentary out called Bandit and it is a great film not only about Smokey and the Bandit but also how Burt and Hal got into show Biz
Going to try this recipe once I get to the Farmers Market where I get my meats from. I picked up a cheap hand mixer from a thrift shop (paid like $2 for it) so I could use it to break my heats up in the slow cooker or pressure cooker just to save me a few dishes to wash.
That looks good I definitely gotta try this
I've always wanted know what kind of sandwich that was👍
Before I retired after 30yrs in Industrial Maintenance, every time we'd go to the breakroom someone would purposely ask me what I was getting out of the sandwich machine, cause they always knew I was gonna say, "A Dirty Diablo sammich". I always added the word "Dirty" cause it came out of those machines. 😆👍
I like that move, and always was curious what was a Diabolo Sandwich. Thanks!
Thank ya kind lady.
I was raised in Forest Park GA passed this Old Hickory House All the time good ole days
I remember someone doing a variation on this, but it looked more like a sloppy joe using cut up hot links for the meat, then covered in either spicy barbecue sauce or hot sauce. Wasn’t bad, but it was messy.
I like the story and the sandwich looks good.
It's wild how some people fancy up a simple recipe, thank you for breaking it down to the real deal, no frou-frou. The ones with ground beef and carrot are particularly ridiculous.
thank you
Both sound great
Looked like the knife didn’t want to cut that little red pepper. Might need to sharpen it. Nice video. Always wondered what a Diablo sandwich was.
one hard pepper lol
Looks great!! (Just a note - don't clip your lid. It can crack the lid during cooking. That feature is for transport only. )
Wow! That’s a good lookin sang-wich!!!
Damn, that looks good. Gotta try this.
Thanks for watching
Always thought it was a sloppy Joe with hot sauce. Can't wait to make this, yum!
it is really tasty
Sandwich looks good, but all I could think was that was if you have trouble cutting those peppers you need to sharpen that knife 😂. I will have to give that sandwich a try for myself though. Good video. Thanks.
that was the. hardest pepper in the world lol
That scene was filmed at the Old Hickory House restaurant off of Old Dixie Highway in Forest Park Georgia. Been there many times in my youth they made great Brunswick Stew too. They had several locations around the greater Atlanta area but sadly, like many local family owned real BBQ restaurants, they closed about 15-20 years ago.
Never been there, but I sure miss that world if you know what I mean.
Now I know how to make one. Thanks.
awesome and tomorrows video is how to make Hooters Wings since they are closing a bunch of stores
What a movie!
Hooper another great one
Ohhh that looks nice. I could definetly get inspired from this. Only I'd make it with a nice mayo or something and caramelized onions and a mild cheese on a toasted burger bun. I mean. Yeah it wouldn't be an original but I bet it would taste great.
good vid dood!!!
I always thought it was deviled ham lol that looks really good:)
According to the Old Hikory House where Smokey and the Bandit was filmed the El Diablo was basically minced pork sandwich doused in Texas Pete hot sauce - is now an off-menu item, but you can still get it if you ask.”
Well I am going by what a Crew Member who was there and worked on the movie told me way back in the 80s. Most likely Hickory House made the sandwich after filming. Script was written long before they shot at the Hickory house. Im sticking with the story as told to me.
About the burning peppers one time after pulling apart a Jalepeno I went for a wizz and felt quite a burn!
I remember renting the movie K9 from Movie Gallery or Blockbuster.
This recipe looks great and definitely one from the the Hollywood craft food wagon with all the sourced western US ingredients in that dish. I definitely hope to find it in print, I'd love to try it thinking this is today's new Diablo. However, my thoughts are, given the look of the rural GA movie location choke & puke, it wouldn't be in a 70's small diner budget to source the spices, peppers for a specific item. I do think the commenters talking about the Old Hickory's version BBQ with mass market hot sauce of some sort would be so much more likely this far east back then. No way picking on any diner, times were WAY different back then with spices/sauces etc to buy. Also, then and today's restaurant kitchen is going to use items their other dishes use, to save costs for the bottom line or guests pricing, still creative/tasty, faster for their line staff to make aka another way to save budget :) .
Junior…you want something???
Hush puppies Daddy
We ain’t got no time for that crap😂😂😂
That looks good as hell
@@hotrodder1968 thanks for watching
I would have never guessed it was a beef sandwich. All these years I just figured it was pork.
basically a pulled beef birria sandwich
