My favorite part of the bold joke is that everyone was wrong. They were all convinced he'd get himself killed (which I suppose they weren't really wrong about) but he also got promoted and became closer to the senior officers. In all honesty, the Bold Boimler bit is really working out for him. But regardless, this is definitely one of my favorite Mariner lines.
Just carry on the theme from Tapestry. "If you want to get ahead, you have to take chances, stand out in a crowd, get noticed." "[Lt Picard] learned to play it safe… and he never, ever got noticed by anyone." Thus one is a dreary Lower Decker in a tedious job instead of a Legend.
I think it's an important character aspect all the same. They're allowed to be wrong, and in this case Mariner's past insecurities about losing friends are making her overly protective of Boimler. It's understandable, but it's also not what's best for Boimler.
It's kinda weird but Mariner in the "realistic dimension" has the same body type as D'vana... the funny thing is Noël Wells, if you see her, has the same type of Mariner in his dimension.
I just realised what it is (at least in part) - It’s Workaholism, and it’s being sustained by the fact of that the whims of Fate are temporarily conspiring with him in his favour, making him (somewhat) successful. So, they’re right - he’s gonna get himself killed.
Mariner is being very sexist, considering that she wants Tendi to do the Orion "Mistress of the Winter Constellations" thing. Which would basically be bold!Tendi.
@@daniels7907 yes but again has nothing to do with gender she wants them to actlike that because that's how she has viewd them this far and dosn't like change because when people change they leave

I love how he STILL kept with the bold boimler when being promoted, with his insecurities being from different things.
I love bold Boimler.
I don't think Mariner does. Or at least, not when he's apparently almost getting himself killed.
The dude who said “fortune favours the bold” got his head crushed in by volcanic rock.
And was standing at ground zero of a power station explosion
Fucking metal way to go🤘
I suppose you speak of the elder Pliny?
This is my favorite part of this episode. I love it.
Bold Boimler, scared Boimler live action Boimler.... they are all great.

Of course Tendi enjoys the slide.
I had to sell my first born to a Ferengi because Boimler said "fortune favors the bold" and I lost all my fucking latinum.
I just spotted the Verucca Salt joke, there.

Y sad?

I really should watch Lower Decks.
Yes, yes you should.
Right now Season 1 is free on the Paramount+ CZcams channel
@@victorialawhon2251 Thank you for this head's up.
After the Star Trek Brave New Worlds episodes, they should do this live (not a cartoon)
What's the matter, Mariner? You prefer it when Boimler was under your thumb and passive?
To be fair would you trust him not to get him self killed I mean he ownly ways 61 kg or 135 pounds so an alien can throw him like a rag doll
Yes.
Deep down Mariner is just as bossy as her mom.
Neanderthal DNA.
Some women like that sorta thing lol

Neanderthal DNA...
its alittlle hypocritical but not sexist she dosnt like boimler being confident because its boimler
@@aawallace98 - But, again, she would like Tendi to be more assertive. Whereas she prefers Boimler and Rutherford be more passive and nerdy.

@@aawallace98 - Then why encourage Tendi to change back into "The Mistress of the Winter Constellations"?
